Considering Hufnagel's track record of having quality players, I don't think it's that unbelievable. They have a pretty damn good defensive backfield even without Randle.

Arland Bruce sues CFL over concussions
TBieber replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Nobody wants him, so he's gotta get his name out there somehow. -
Riders haven't signed Will Ford as of yet. I'm sure they just had to make room... perhaps tomorrow.

Great News for TV viewers: Dunigan doing color Thursday

Indeed. Can't imagine CC and Suitor are missing the Ottawa game, so Black/Forde will be in Calgary Friday night, and likely jet over to Vancouver for the Saturday game. -
Comparative analysis - How bad is the Bombers OL?
TBieber replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
2-3 seconds is what you want. Should be 1.8 to 2.6 for short to mid range plays, and 2.6 to 3.2 for longer plays. -

I don't even think I have seen something like that in all the NFL stats I follow or look at... a likely reason being that it would be opinion. A coverage sack, for example could simply be a QB not making his reads. In the CFL with our limited camera angles, it would also make that difficult. NFL.com you can watch coaches film. It is sweet. -
Comparative analysis - How bad is the Bombers OL?
TBieber replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Danny McManus was barely touched for six years in a seven year period from 1998 to 2004 in Hamilton, with a large part of that being due to his quick release and quick decisions. Of course, he also threw a lot of interceptions because of it, with five of those seasons having thrown more picks than sacks taken. Masoli has a quick release, so I would expect Hamilton to develop a short to mid package for him to pass out of, because he is quite inaccurate on mid to long range tosses. -

Yes obviously there's more to it than just sacks given up when evaluating an OL, but this gives a pretty good indication of a teams ability to protect the QB. And obviously a QB with a quick release and a mobile QB will make an OL look better too. The Bombers OL gets a lot of bad press, when in reality it's middle of the pack...other teams give up sacks too. Very true. One of our members, TBieber, has taken to timing the seconds from snap to QB release during some games this year. I wonder if he'd have the results saved to share here. Admittedly, I did that to help build my case against Zach Collaros at first, so I haven't done it for all games. I will time out Willy tomorrow though and post results. -
Toronto has league worst pass defence, surprised?
TBieber replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
They have three sacks from their defensive line... six defensive linemen have that many themselves. Between his resistance to blitz, and the wide turnover on the D, it has been an obvious disaster thus far. -
Ryan Phillips was an all-star last year with 36 tackles and 2 interceptions (lowest since 2008) That comes despite guys like Dwight Anderson and Jerald Brown having 5 INT's. Korey Banks was an all-star in 2011 and 2012 even though he only had 2 INT's combined.

They lost several key members of the defence and haven't exactly replaced them well. -
Jokinen Ribeiro Fisher Roy Gaustad. Scary depth at centre..........................................said no one. Ever. Their forwards are embarrassing.

Footwork would be the bigger issue for me. Accuracy is almost always a direct result of poor footwork.

Riders average 6.6 YPC on first down. Has gradually gone down since Week 1. 19 carries, 117 yards 13 carries, 104 yards 12 carries, 71 yards Hugh Charles also provided them with their first 20+ yard rush of the season.

If you follow the CFL Twitter account, you will notice that if you tweet #schedule to them, it produces an automatic tweet. Exiling players gets you fired. Chamblin needs to put his ego aside. If Charles didn't produce much, fine, bench him - but you're talking about a guy who had 86 yards in a half. There is no trust, and it will break them if they don't figure it out.
-
Seriously amazes me that the Riders have twice removed the running game outright because of a fumble. Especially worse tonight with Charles having a near 100 yard first half. I have said and will continue to strengthen my stance that Darian Durant is not the QB who can win you many games without support. Second week in a row.
