The team is 9th in the league in puck possesion. That's a good thing. They are bottom of the league in PK PP and Goaltending (PAV/HUTCH) The difference between them being good and bad this year....PK, PP, Goaltending.
-
Ondrej Pavelec 20 games played. 2.86 GAA 9.00 save percentage Connor Hellebyuck 26 games played 2.34 GAA 9.18 save percentage We don't have a goalie issue, we have a Pavelec issue.
-
Pavelec was not very good last year. He had a 1 week or so stretch where he played better than normal which inflated his numbers significantly but then the Ducks series came and yeah it was just 4 games but he had the worst GAA and save percentage of every goalie who started in the playoffs. PAVelec sucks. This team goes nowhere until Pavelec is off of it. That's the bottom line. 6 years already with him. Enough is enough.

Sam Katz Implicated In Police HQ Scandal?
Goalie replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in General Discussion
I hope Katz goes away for this, The guys a criminal and it's obvious. It was obvious a long time ago. -
Lipon, Petan, De Leo and Comrie will be on the Moose. No doubt about it. The only guy i could see possibly making the Jets is Petan or Lipon, depending what they do with Thorburn. (Lipon would take his spot IMO). Petan would probably best be used on the Moose also, unless he can steal a spot.. it's possible, i'm sure there will be an opening for him. It will come down to what he does in camp. What do we need? Offensive D man? No thanks, I'll take the defensive d men any day, we already have the ultra offensive buff. We need more defensive d men, a guy like Hamonic would be perfect. Helle is the goalie of the future, get used to it, he is. There is no doubt about that. He will be on the team next year and possibly even be the starter 3rd line center? That's where Petan comes in, he could push lowry down to the 4th line. It's hard to say. Again, theres 20 or so games left in this year and then the draft and then free agency and then all this stuff so really, right now it's 2 early to say. lol at trading a top 10 pick for Drouin, not gonna happen. Maybe Chicagos pick but definitely not our own. No chance. Trade Dano? why? cuz after 2 games and 2 practices he hasn't scored a goal? Makes no sense. Drouins value right now is pretty much non existent. No way i give up a top 10 pick for him. Not a chance. No team would.

No. Enstrom won't be. He had a falling out with Swedish hockey back in 2008 and hasn't played for them since. Some speculate on the reasons for that.. I'm not gonna go in to that stuff but let's just say that there is probably some truth to what those people are saying. Pavelec won't even play a game for the Czech team. He's the third goalie and that's only cuz theres basically 3 czech goalies in the NHL and this is pretty much an NHL only tournament it seems

I think it's more likely they trade for a young player like Drouin than sign a veteran to a 1 year deal. I also think trading for Hamonic is more likely than signing a veteran player to a 1 year deal. Did you watch Chevys press conference on feb 29th? It's on the Jets site. Maybe you should, cuz basically, i'm just repeating what he has in regards to free agent signings. He also talked about how he was trying to make some hockey deals this trade deadline... Trades are much more likely for this team than signing free agents to 1 year deals. It just is what it is really.

The benefit of buying him out is simple... he's not on the team anymore and we can move on finally from the worst starting goaltending in the league the last 6 seasons. Jets won't be a cap team so buying him out doesn't mean much to them. I'd agree with TUP, he didn't even want to go to the Moose on a conditioning stint. There's no way he's happy playing in the AHL. Not a chance.
-
Lots can and will happen between now and next season. Who knows what happens really. Just a crap shoot but, all these free agents people are talking about... let it go, it isn't happening, Jets will play the kids.
-
He's easy going but he takes no responsibility ever. If i was a team mate of his, i would get sick of it. He never takes the blame for himself. It would annoy me after a while. He's been here 6 years now and has consistently been the worst starting goaltender in the league, i see no upside to keeping him at all, I'm honestly not even sure another team picks him up if the Jets buy him out.

Oh boy, someone else thinks Tebow could make it here
Goalie replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Tebow seems like a good down to earth guy, good head on his shoulders.. It would be interesting to see. I think he would help sell some tickets in some places, however with that being said, i don't think his skill set translates very well to the CFL. He can't throw. That's the bottom line. I think he'd come up here with tons of hype and i think he'd flame out pretty quickly. Would i like to see him come up here? Sure why not. Do i think he'd be successful? Probably not. -

McDavid is good but they need to move some players off that team and build around McDavid. The culture of losing can't be fixed by 1 guy. McDavid is good but he can't do it on his own.. I like how the media made that in to a McDavid vs Eichel game tho, Both guys pretty much said they don't know each other at all and that it's all media created. -
I don't know, I think buying out PAV is a legit option, I'm not sure if they do it but... i think they will consider it. It's so hard to say, cuz PAV shouldn't be around anymore, this team goes nowhere until PAV is off the team, that's my opinion of it at least. He's the biggest problem right now with the team, we out shoot teams somewhat consistently when pav plays, yet we end up losing, It's gotta be pretty disheartening. I almost want to say with them playing PAV so much recently that it's almost like a test run for him for next year, for them to decide whether they should buy him out or keep him and right now, if that is the case, no doubt, a buyout is coming.

I think both Trouba and Scheif sign long term, I'd prefer one be 6 or 7 and the other be 7 or 8 year deals... For Scheif, something around 4.5- 5.5 seems fair. For Trouba, It's tricky, i think 5 - 5.5 is fair for him also, Keep in mind, you are buying some ufa years here so... who knows how much that is worth. Lowry would be a bridge deal, 2 years max... not sure how much, not much more than he is making now probably, let's say 1.5 per year. Armia? same thing, 1.5 a year on a 2 year deal Hutch? Depends what they do with PAV, i think Hutch is the better goalie, i think he is more consistent than pav, Pav has a losing record in his career I don't know how much of a market there will be for goalies so, Let's just assume pav is traded or bought out, both options for sure... Hutch would be a good back up to Helle for a year or probably 2 until Comrie is ready.

Game 62 : Panthers @ Turbulence
Goalie replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
And no. Only pavelec sucks. Hutch is fine and would be the ideal backup. Comrie is good but he needs another year or 2 in the A. Hutch makes like what? 600 700 K? Pav makes 4.5 or so and should be in the K. -

Part of the problem tonight was ESW was on the ice every other shift. Maurice has a habit of over playing guys and you could tell near the middle of the 3rd that ESW was getting gassed. They are good but play the other lines more also. Need to get armia and Dano away From Lowry. Lowry is ok bit he's probably best used as a 4th line winger and not a center. Play them with Perreault. -

Tanking? The only way they are tanking is by playing the goalie who sucks more Last 5 games Pav Vs Florida .864 save percentage loss Vs Dallas .846 loss Vs Tbay .808 pulled Vs Car .931 loss Vs EDM .955 win Hutch Vs Pitt .879 loss Vs Dallas .900 win Vs Florida .906 loss Vs Boston .926 no decision Vs Colorado .941 win Hutch has been better. -
I'm not convinced Raffl is back next year with the moose or jets but I hope they give him a call up.
-
Could see Enstrom plus a prospect for Hamonic. Maybe myers also goes. Think Drouin ends up a Jet. Get this feeling. I'll make my legit prediction after the draft. Matthews changes things. So does Laine and Puljujarvi

Toronto will finish last but who really knows who wins picks 1 2 and 3 -
I wouldn't expect many free agent signings

Would Stempniak have signed a 2 way deal? Nope. Chevy had a very good PC. Feb 29th on the jets site. Ppl should listen.

Game 62 : Panthers @ Turbulence
Goalie replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Jets played well. Dano is very strong defensively but needs time much like armia did. Got out goalied once again. Buff and Trouba were very good. Not sure why they don't play together Myers and enstrom were very meh. Chiarot was ok. Postma was better than stu and Pardy Thought most forwards were solid. Really does come down to Pavelec sucking Pretty tough to score in the 3rd when Florida Is playing 5 guys at their blue line -
Raff hopefully gets a call up. He could be a good bottom 6 player. The only concern would be injuries.

People actually take the day off work for this trade deadline crap. Lol. 1 trade so far involving basically 2 nobodies. The biggest news is waiver pick ups. Kris Russell who has similar fancy stats as mark Stuart and a washed up Dan hamhuis are the big deals today maybe? Man. What a joke this stuff is.
