As for when will we compete? Probably when we get a franchise Center, and maybe a younger Franchise D man, i like Trouba but i feel he's not that guy... I think part of the reason they signed Buff was because they feel Trouba isn't that guy either.. Like it or not, the way things are right now... Trouba is 3rd on the RHD depth chart behind Buff and Myers. I don't care if anyone thinks he's better than Myers, that's irrelevant, The coaches have him on the third pair. That says it all, He's not ready and he may never be ready. If this was WWE and Vince Mcmahon came out here, you know what he'd say, He'd say it's time, It's time to shake things up a bit here cuz what we have here isn't really working. Like i've said before, People can go on about you can't bring 2 much youth to the team all at once, why the hell not? Cuz reality is what we have now isn't good enough. Throw the fans of this team, who BTW, got an email from the JETS today telling them to reserve their playoff tickets for this year, LOL at that, but... throw the fans a frickin bone really. We aren't stupid, we are smart hockey fans, we know this team as it currently is, it just won't ever get it done. It might make the playoffs and it will fool the less educated hockey fans in to think this team is FOR REAL, they are LEGIT but until we get that number 1 center and until we get that legit Franchise D man who isn't 30, we are going nowhere fast. Don't be surprised if Next year, we are in a similar position or the year after or after even. It all depends on what Chevy does this trade deadline and summer. But, face it, It's been 5 years and what has Chevy actually done besides drafting a few players like every other team has and signing 1 good FA in perreault. Not much... Let's see here.. It's way less. This team sucked then and it sucks now. Why is it a surprise? It's gonna be a while. Like it or not...It's gonna be a while and unless some big changes happen, a while might turn in to a long long while cuz of those 9 guys that we have kept since 2011, only 2 or 3 and one is burmi and 2 are little and wheeler are under 30. The other is PAV... the tank commander. With that being said... it could be worse. We could be Vancouver or Minnesota or teams like that who have ZERO prospects at all.

He looked pretty big last time i saw him play, NFL size, not CFL sized, I dunno, he wasn't really that impressive when Montreal played. He was ok but he looked out of CFL shape, lost some of what made him so good a few years ago. He's a good player but i don't think he'd be worth the money or the headache that his agent brings.

I'm not convinced Trouba will be here in 2018 - 2019 but... Who really knows, i guess in order to be serious cup contenders you need to first be serious playoff contenders and we aren't there, actually, IMO, we are probably at the worst place we've ever been since coming back to Winnipeg. Little is what he is... You look at Chicago for example, They got Toews, and Kane and Keith and Seabrook and now Panarin among others. LA - Kopitar,Doughty. Among others. Boston had and still has Bergeron, He's legit, they had a younger Chara, they had beast mode Lucic What do we got? Not too much actually, we have some potentially very good players in Ehlers and Connor. We got Buff, but he isn't getting any younger, We got Trouba who, who really knows what's gonna happen there... he could be good or he could be traded.. who really knows. Until we get a franchise player, The unfortunate reality with this team, it might just be, we aren't bad enough to get a top 2 pick, but aren't good enough to consistently compete for the playoffs. You give us Matthews or even Nolan Patrick next year and things can change but in order to actually compete, we need that Franchise Center. NEED it badly. It's our biggest need. Scary thing is, what if we never get that franchise player? Then what? will we continue to pick in that 7 to 9 range like we have done somewhat consistently over the last several years? If so, i don't think we will ever be more than just a playoff pretender who makes it 1 year and then struggles the next. This Core group couldn't get it done in the ultra weak SOUTHEAST division and are now older... what makes anyone think they will be better.. Once our top 6 includes guys like Wheeler (seems to be the only player of the ones we inherited actually getting better), Scheif,Ehlers,Connor, Franchise Center, Armia maybe. Then we can talk about competing but right now and next year even, I'm afraid that unless Chevy starts to actually sell off some of our players, that once again, pick 7 to 9 again and that's a tough spot to get out of. Also the fact that most players have Winnipeg on their no trade list, it makes things tough, You have to tank, you have to draft well, we have been drafting well but still lacking that face of the franchise, It's buff right but Buffs 30 years old.

That's not good and in my opinion if the PA appeal this, they are stupid. Just no responsibility shown by Wideman at all. That's the problem with these guys now a days, Can put Evander Kane in to this group also, they take no responsibility for their actions and in Kanes case, they pretend to and then a while later, do the same thing over and over again. You watching tons of Buffalo games i guess? McDavid is very good, so is Eichel. They are both generational talents. Matthews is also but his ceiling is probably less than Eichels, Don't get me wrong, I'd take all 3 but if i had a choice between Lets just say Eichel or Matthews, It's Eichel all day every day and it's not even close.

Not giving Eichel enough Credit at all, Eichel would still have been number 2. I'd gladly take him on the JETS any day of the week. The guy is gonna be a huge star. Just cuz he plays for a smaller market team who gets very little attention doesn't mean he isn't as good. McDavid,Eichel,Matthews in that order for sure. and the Gap between McDavid and Eichel isn't as much as the media says.

Thing is... Stamkos probably isn't even the top 5 best player on his team right now... The only reason people think he's so good is because of what he did a couple years ago, he's not a top 5 talent on his team, never mind the league. This is a case of people somewhat over valuing Stamkos, It's not about what he's done, it's about what he's going to do in the future and just like Ladd, you need to look at that, you need to be able to say, hmm in 4 5 6 years from now is Andrew Ladd gonna be worth 6 million a year? Is he worth 6 million a year now even? Just like with Stamkos, is he worth 10 million a year? Now? Maybe, in 2 3 4 5 years? probably not. Some of these guys are in for a rude awakening this off-season, yeah i bet there is some team out there who is gonna over pay a ton for some of these guys but in a few years time, will that contract be an albatros on that team that signed it? It might just be. Stamkos hasn't been the same since he broke his leg.

I'll say this, It's very very rare for a player to leave college to play in the AHL... if they are leaving College, it's to play with the big CLUB. If Connor leaves Michigan after this season, He's a JET next year. No doubt about it. Don't get the Gaudreau comparison tho, Johnny Hockey was not a first or even 2nd round pick, he might have been a 3rd or 4th round pick actually, Connor was a top 10, some had him as high as top 6 talent last year in a very deep draft. He fell to the JETS here big time and in a re-draft would probably go top 5. Connor is ripping up the NCAA like only Eichel and Larkin has done b4 him, He's ready. He's very ready. He's more of an Ehlers type of player who plays the game at high speeds than a Gaudreau who is more like Petan in my opinion, Shorter, tons of talent but needs a couple years to actually figure it out.

How? They are both generational talents. The biggest difference between them is one is canadian so he gets hyped out the ass, and the other is american so he doesn't. They are both Franchise Centers. Both Edmonton and Buffalo got what they wanted. Eichel is a PPG player his last 25 games. He's going to be very very good and already is.

Something to keep in mind with Stamkos, His parents just moved to Tampa Bay recently full time.

I don't see Pittsburgh as likely at all, they basically have nothing to give up.. they have no real prospects outside of Derrick Pouliot who is a LHD but at the same time, that's all they have. They don't have a first, i'm not even sure they have a second. Basically, I'd see Pitt more interested in Enstrom or Stafford and i don't think the Jets would trade Ladd to Pittsburgh without a first coming back. Pouliot is ok but... he's got a lot of question marks. Minny? Very doubtful since they are in a tailspin right now, however who knows, they don't have much to offer prospect wise either, I'd take their first tho. Anaheim? Definitely. Chicago? Definitely. Florida? I don't see it being likely at all.

This whole Stamkos debate is silly. It basically really does come down to his no move clause which he negotiated in to his contract. It would be nice if these no move clauses didn't exist or if these guys weren't guaranteed their money, but... they do and they are. I guess, you can see this 2 ways, 1... Yzerman did shop him around but didn't like the return or 2. He didn't shop him around cuz he has inside info that Stamkos will be signing a new deal with Tampa. The Toronto media can pump up these guys and pretend they all want to come home and play for the leafs but reality with a place like Tampa since it's in Florida and perhaps this is what people may not understand... Lets just pretend Leafs did make stamkos an offer, let's just call it 10 million a year, well, with taxes, it's less than 10 million a year. Way less actually. In Florida because there are no taxes like that, 10 million is 10 million.

Anyone hear Maurice after the game? Didn't say much but what he did says it all. Change is needed badly. He was asked about what message did he give to the team between the 2nd and 3rd intermission. He said the same message he gave to start the game. That says the team really isn't listening. It's almost as if they are tuning him out. That would be the second coach this team has tuned out. Players need to go. Off season. In my opinion. You keep Wheeler. You obviously keep Buff. Scheif ehlers armia one not both of trouba or Myers and the rest... well... it's time to look at moving some guys out. People can talk about bringing in 2 much youth to the team but youth brings hope. It brings optimism. You stick with the same group tho and what's it say really. It's rewarding failure

You under estimate some of these guys talent level. We will see what happens but Lemieux could very easily be a Jet next season.
