I think Walters has already signed the guys he wants to be here "long term". I'd be willing to guess that the bombers probably don't have as many free agents last year as they do this year. The only exception being Sukh Chungh but wouldn't be surprised to hear he's signed an extension soon.

Shologan and Thomas, might not be the most impressive DT group but... they would get the job done i'm sure. I think Turners time in Winnipeg is coming to an end soon as i don't really think he's worth what he brings. DL was an issue last year outside of Westerman really, Anderson was ok for a guy coming off surgery but... for the most part, THE DL was pretty bad, why bring back players who are bad? it makes no sense. As a fan of the bombers and CFL, i've learned to not become 2 attached to some of the players because it's likely that they won't be here for very long. All the Jerseys i own, none are current bombers and i'm not sure i'd ever get a current bomber. Maybe i'd Consider Harris or Willy now tho but... for the most part, guys don't tend to spend their whole careers with 1 team anymore.

I remember watching a few XFL games, definitely remember the opening game. XFL was a decent idea i guess, but it proves that Americans don't really care for any other leagues outside of the NFL and NCAA. CFL seems to be gaining some ground there tho but CFL is also a league that will never have another team in the states. A few of the XFL's ideas are now seen in the NFL, the most obvious one being the camera above the stadium on the ropes there... XFL did it first.

I'd lean more towards Turner, Bucknor,Peach and others over Kohlert. Lapo likes Kohlert. Why would we cut Kohlert? He's a pretty good player actually, plus he's Canadian. Makes no sense to cut him for $$$ purposes when there are a bunch of Internationals who could potentially be replaced by cheaper guys.

So... who are the biggest losers on day 1 of free agency? Calgary? Montreal, yeah they signed a few guys but losing Bourke has to hurt Ottawa? Outside of signing Trevor Harris, did they do anything?

Ottawa is a team that doesn't need to worry about money so much. They are a budget team for sure but... they have a ton of prospects coming and a ton on ELC deals still, actually several of their players are on very good deals. Phaneuf isn't an awful contract, it's just way 2 long. The cap hit isn't as bad as some thought it would be. He is still a good player, just probably put in the wrong role in toronto.

Als have apparently signed Jovon Johnson... 90,000 base to that contract. Wouldn't be surprised to see Capicotti join him in Montreal.

I don't think we are as close to the cap as some think we are. And if we are, Well, i can think of several players right now who will probably not be Bombers soon. Turner, who is no doubt making a pretty penny or 2 will probably be traded or released. Bucknor is probably another guy that could be sent packing. I don't think a guy like Kohlert is in any danger, I think a guy like Peach could be sent packing, between those guys and the guys we let go already plus the cap went up 100,000 dollars, not much but enough to make a bit of a difference, don't think cap issues are there really. Picard,Moore = 350,000 plus... closer to probably 400,000. with the additional 100,000 cap space, Lets just call it 500,000. Yeah they signed Nichols but how much of that deal counted towards the 2015 cap, how much of Bryants extension or Goossens extension counted towards the 2015 cap. With moving on from guys like Pontbriand,Newman,Lirim,Washington, etc... there are some cap savings there too, yeah it might not be hundreds of thousands of dollars but a little birdy on twitter told me that had about 1.1 million to play with. I bet they didn't even spend that much today when it's all said and done. They spent some cash today but... i'll bet they have plenty of cash left over also.

I don't get the Bomber hate exactly, They identified areas of need and went out and got those guys. Harris - we needed a RB... we got one, he's from here, wanted to be here. Lochard? With Harris here now and BC going International at RB, it makes sense he would follow his buddy Harris Smith - Our receivers needed to be upgraded, essentially, Dressler replaces Moore and Smith is an upgrade on whoever from last year, I'd suspect we see 4 Internationals starting at Receiver... Denmark,Dressler,Smith,Adams???,Kohlert. Medlock - was no secret we needed a kicker, we got one. Shologan - DL was a weak spot last year, Shologan helps. Keeping - Vet OL who can play center and guard and is a good guy off the field, helps the leadership on the team. I don't know why anyone would be upset or angry over the Bomber signing these guys, It's not like they are signing them for the sake of signing them... Who did we sign from Calgary? Which of these guys did Calgary want? I don't get it really. Free Agency... identify areas of need and go and get the guys you want. That's what Walters did. This is the whole point of free agency isn't it?

Yup. Way 2 early to even guess. So much can still happen. Trades. Cuts. Signings. Seems every year a street free agent signing or 2 comes in and makes a difference. J Adams and Khalil Bass last year. There will be a couple this year also

Probably but why not play 3 there and start Canadians elsewhere. Your QB is the most important player. Why not protect him with better talent.

3 import oline seems likely and smart. Outside of bourke who was never a real option... not much OL out there.

Reality. Cowen makes 3.1 million. Michalek makes 4 million. Greening makes 2.5 So really.... not much of a salary dump at all .. however Michalek is a ufa to be. That's basically the deal there. Dion for Cowen Greening Michalek. The rest are AHL players for AHL players
