It's an odd format. Lots of guys left off. Lots of interesting choices. In my opinion, Artemi Panarin should probably be there also, He's having one hell of a year.. as semi oiler fan, where would they be without Draisatl right now? Hall is good but Draisatl has been spectacular so far. Giordano in Calgary, yeah he's good but Brodie is better. McDonough from NYR, struggling big time this year but he's going. Rinne in Nashville, struggling big time, really poor season so far yet he's going, Dubnyk in Minny, No Parise or Suter from Minny. It's just odd. The list goes on and on. You can look at every division there and you could add and subtract certain players. Kuznetsov in Washington is another guy i feel should be there.
-
I'll take a guess.. Chiefs, Vikings, Packers,Steelers. Cinci Chokes in the playoffs, they are better but the choking factor is huge with those guys.
-
There is no crossover... top 3 teams from each division make it.. Then 2 wild card teams... Dallas,Chicago and St Louis are 1 2 3 in Central La,Arizona and Vancouver are 1 2 3 in Pacific Minny has wildcard spot 1, Nashville has wildcard spot 2 (Minny has 50 points, 1 game in hand on the Jets, Nashville has 45 (1 game in hand on the Jets) Those are your 8 teams if the playoffs started tomorrow. I guess you can look at it this way... Jets have played 41 games and have 41 points.. They are 21st overall in the league right now... However... Calgary is 1 point behind them with 1 game in hand Anaheim and Toronto are 2 points behind them with 2 games in hand.... Carolina has 39 points after 41 games... San Jose has played 38 games and have 38 points, 3 points behind the Jets with 3 games in hand..Oilers have 37 points in 41 games (no McDavid yet) Sabres and Jackets seem to be lost causes, Not sure Jets can catch those 2 bottom feeders but the rest... they are all with in striking distance... Jets have 41 points, ranked 21st but... after some teams behind them in the standings actually get to 41 games, Jets could easily be ranked 27th overall in the league.. well, 26th i guess since Oilers Sabres and Jackets all have a few less points with basically the same games played (Only Buffalo has played less games and it's only 1 less game) Lol. Jets are basically 4 points away from being bottom 3, however they are also 4 points away from being tied with Nashville for a wildcard spot.

Yup. They would need to go on quite the run to reach that 91 92 point total... And that's just a rough guess as to what I think it might take to make it. It could be more and I don't think it will be less. I think they miss the playoffs by a significant amount. With that being said, I think they finish with more points than probably 1 maybe 2 of the pacific teams who do make the playoffs. Yup. St Louis, Dallas,Chicago,Minny,Nashville all are in right now. La, Arizona and Vancouver right now from the Pacific are in right now. Jets have 41 points. So does Vancouver.

Riders aren't as good as some expect them to be. Jones Flops a bit. Esks aren't as good either. Lions are the worst team in the league Calgary struggles more than normall Bombers are the surprise of the year and host a playoff game at IGF

Game 40 : Jets vs Predators - Requiem
Goalie replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
You know those spectacular saves PAV makes? You know why he makes them? because he's out of position lots. Helle isn't. Helle is the better goalie and has the brighter future. There is no goalie controversy, The only goalie controversy would be... Who do you send down or trade... Hutch or Pav... Right now, I'd say you try to move Pav only because he's making 2 much cash to be a back up. -
I'm not a big Toews fan boy but the guy is very good and with that being said, He has scored multiple game winning OT goals himself this year also.
-
I don't disagree with that. But i think it's as simple as it's a popularity contest. Barrie isn't popular, Wheeler isn't either. Buff is. Duchene is. Who is Tyson Barrie? Yeah some of us might know who he is but... do the masses? I'm not sure. I guess Wheeler is right when he said it's a popularity contest cuz Matt Duchene is definitely well known.

I'd agree with a semi tank, however, i think they would need to deal ladd and buff (think they will if they aren't signed by closer to the trade deadline regardless of where they are in the standings). I think they would also need some injuries, Little,Wheeler,Scheif and Helle i think. Helle is so good that he himself will keep the Jets somewhat respectable. I do think they will trade Ladd or and Buff, (the more i think about it, the more I think both are dealt) regardless of where they are in the standings if they aren't signed because you just can't risk losing them for nothing in the off-season. Chipman has already said they can't lose them for nothing so tells me they are either signed or traded regardless. \ I think 91 let's say 92 points might get you a playoff spot (wildcard). Jets have 41 after 41 games. They would need to win 25 or 26 of their remaining 41 games to get to 91 92 points. I don't think they can do that. This teams much like the bombers have yet to show that they can win back to back games this year, they need to go on a huge streak and i just don't see it happening at all. Something is wrong in the locker room and i don't think it's this "youth movement" which basically only involves ehlers, copp and armia now. 3 guys dragging them down that much? I don't think so. I don't consider Burmi to be part of this because he's not a rookie.

Yup. Good enough for yet another 8 to 14 pick. Woo Hoo. However, The one silver lining here, If you want to go glass half full I suppose, THe Jets have played 24 road games already meaning they only have 17 or so more road games to go in the second half of the season, Teams in front of them like Nashville for example have played mostly home games and have yet to actually play many games vs the Central, The Jets have and most of those Central games have actually been on the road. The silver lining is the Jets have plenty of home games left while most other teams play on the road where their records aren't nearly as good. The Jets have been very good at home. Also i believe they only have 3 back to back games left this year. Silver lining. However, I do feel they aren't good enough to make the playoffs, even tho i feel unlike last year where you needed like almost 100 points to get in, you might only need 91 or 92 but... that means the Jets have to win, well, they have 41 points right now i believe. Yes 41 with 41 games to go. They would need to win at least 25 of those games to get to 91 points... seeing as how they play 24 home games and 17 road games, I think it's somewhat possible to get to 91 92 points but... they'd pretty much have to basically win every game at home to do it... I think they are a .500 team so i think they finish with 82 - 85 points. Good enough for probably an 8 to 14 pick unless injuries happen, then perhaps they can bottom out a bit.

I dunno. Nobody was in front of the net, in my opinion if those 2 broken stick shots get through, Lehtonen makes the easy save. He's a good goalie. Those shots won't beat him with nobody in front of him. Jets PP is just really bad. I don't know if it's talent or scheme or both but you compare it to basically every other teams PP and it's not even close. We are lucky if we get 2 good shots, other teams get at least 2 or 3 shots against us, high quality chances at that. We are so very predictable on the PP also, Pass it around for 30 seconds and then send it back to buff or myers for a shot from the point with nobody in front, pass it behind the net, you can't score from behind the net, you can but it's unlikely.. You watch the Dallas PP (last night wasn't the best example tho) but... they set up seem passes, one timers, they do it quicker also, I dunno. It's either we lack skill or we lack the scheme. I think it might be a combo of both, Since 2011, the Jets number 1 PP unit has been the same, except for Perreault. The rest of the guys are the same. The PP has actually been in the bottom half of the league since 2011 also. It's talent or lack of or scheme or both. Something needs to change there tho.
-
Say what you want but the pp cost us the game in OT. 4 on 3 for 2 minutes and they do nothing. Also why no ehlers or Trouba in 3 on 3. If the idea is to win the extra point why not put more skill out there. Buff. Myers. Toby all got ice time. Ladd got ice time. Why didn't ehlers who had a strong game or Trouba get ice time. Odd coaching decisions and our PP coach Pascal Vincent needs to be fired immediately
-
Different format tho. Let's say Duchene isn't Colorado rep and Wheeler is ours. That means the Colorado rep would have to be a d man. It's an odd format
-
Ehlers fined for diving. 2000 fine. Has to be a joke

Drouin right now is just a prospect. You don't know if he will be a 60 70 point guy or a 30 point guy. Fans might value prospects highly but at some point... when does that prospect become what he is. It's like with Kane. People still think he has all this potential but... does he? Or is he what he is. He's been in the league a while now. Drouin is not Kane. He's publicly requested a trade. His value isn't that high. You know what buff is. Buff is a difference maker right now. Drouin isn't and may never be. These gms are in the business of winning and if tbay feels they have a brief window here to win... they are gonna go for it. They aren't hurting for prospects but they are In a conference for that is wide open. They would easily move potential for established and I won't be surprised If they do.
-
Ahl moves here I guess. But Gibson did get hurt yesterday so doubt they are shopping Anderson just yet. Gibson probably out a while. Khudobin called up. Toksrski to the Ahl to replace him.
-
Lots can change in a week or 2. Since then he's basically been demoted to the third line
-
Like Wheeler said... it's a popularity contest. Anyone ever watch a Jets game in the states? I have and guess what. ... they don't promote wheeler.. they promote buff. It's Buff and the Jets vs the Wild or whoever. Buff is the face of our team to Americans. That's why he's in. Toews is in cuz quite frankly he's Jonathan Toews. Name recognition matters. Ppl will then say why isn't Crosby there. Cuz he's only shown up to play in 1 all star game in 7 or 8 seasons. It's all about name value here. You kind of realize how much of a joke it is when you see that John Scott is the only Arizona Rep. Where's OEL or Domi for that matter. Where's Draisaitl for that matter. He's had a hell of a season 2. Name recognition matters. It's all about ratings and nothing else and eventho wheeler is having a better year than Toews Duchene and the sorts ... outside of Winnipeg and maybe western Canada... he's not known enough.
-
It's reputation cuz it's been going on for 2 or 3 years now.
-
I think both Ladd and Buff are gone. Just a matter of time.
-
Hamonic is more of an off season move I think unless you go myers and Ladd to NYI for Hamonic a 1st and something else. I do think that Hamonic will be a Jet but I think it happens in the off season. Drouin is unproven so Tampa adds. 1st plus Drouin for Buff is probably a win win for both teams.
-
Buff at minimum will get a 1st and prospect. Ladd will too. It's just how it is. Minimum and personally think buff gets more. He's a difference maker especially to a team in the East. East is wide open. Buff makes a big difference
-
And to the surprise of probably nobody.... Brander Craighead announces his retirement
-
I think brohm was done regardless but having an experienced cfl QB as a backup can't be a bad thing.
