  1. penton said that he has been outright released, he won't be back. He is done as a bomber probably as a football player, unfortunate but it is what it is. From all reports Grigsby and Cotton have both looked pretty good. Wonder if Smiths head was fully in to it.
  2. Little arash madani.. boom!! That really explains it all perfectly plus they just 9 gamed dyakowski.
  3. Just out of nothing but curiosity but for the folks that were actually there in person... Which media guys were there, i know irving penton and i'm pretty sure tait was there.. darren bauming also (who is actually a pretty darn good media person) Anyone else tho? friesen specifically? not that i overly care but... just curious is all.
  4. Ok, it's all good .Spuds head seems to start to explode rather easily at times
  5. Hmm off the top of my head, here are some "weak light wrestlers" who were probably and are probably some of the best in the business past and present. Bret Hart, bullcrap he was as heavy as they billed him, probably the best technical wrestler of all time. Shawn Michaels, dude was barely 200 lbs IRL, again one of the best in ring performers i have ever seen Currently or recently, CM Punk.. tiny but one of the best in the world Daniel Bryan, again not huge... probably barely 200 lbs if that.. one of the best in ring workers (might argue the best) in todays wrestling world Rey Mysterio JR... do i even have to explain that one? dude is 140 max.
  6. The bombers dont seem to mind and were and are very well aware of his previous commitments, i'm not sure why a couple fans are getting all worked up over this. You don't work with the guy, it shouldn't matter to you. O'shea is the coach, not anyone on this forum and he seems fine with it. Besides, our oline has sucked so bad and we have arguably the best oline coach in the game right now, atleast in the CFL.. why is this a big deal? Teams can only practice so much once the season gets going, heck players only want 1 practice with pads every week. I do find it a bit, i dunno if ironic is the right word but there is some i'm gonna say irony in the fact that the 2 guys who are seemingly upset the most.. well, not that it matters right, but one is from alberta, the other bc.. and Nate, well nate is nate and we all know what nate is. Why would it matter to any of us? we don't work with the guy and the people that do are fine with it. Seems like complaining for the sake of it. Oshea even said if he could have only had wylie once a week, he still would have signed him. It matters more what o'shea and the coaching staff thinks, it doesn't matter what anyone on here does. Bombers are fine with it and right now, i'll have to trust them and say i am fine with it too. Seems to be arguing about something that in the big picture is really not a big deal.
  7. LOL. just gonna delete that cuz it's apparent you can't change peoples minds on here. Let's just say cuz i just don't have the patience to post all the stats of the guys taken after him in his 2010 draft but... check it out... he's definitely pushing bust status.
  8. Who has our best tackler arguably been the last few seasons, i'd argue that it was the smallest guy on the field, alex suber. So yeah size really doesn't matter as much as some are making it out to be. And prior to him, could argue it was that gigantic 5'9 maybe monster in jonathan hefney. Size doesn't mean much really.
  9. Oh the bombers were and are very much aware... very much so direct line taken from wylies bio on the offical site Veteran offensive line guru Bob Wylie joins the Bombers for his first season and second stint with the club for the 2014 season, overseeing the development of the offensive line. Wylie oversees the development and while he is away, his protege charboneau runs things. Win Win situation really.
  10. hage retired, he wasn't being paid peanuts, burris is gone, he certainly wasn' tbeing paid peanuts.. traded shomari williams... That right there is probably.. what? over 500,000 at least in salary they let go or lost to retirement or trades. If not a bit more... probably way more actually. http://www.ticats.ca/roster/index/team/6 honestly 50 percent or more of that roster at this time last year... nobody heard of them.
  11. no but hamilton has a ton of 2nd year players now, they have 3 qb's probably making as much as one did last season (not quite but i bet the difference isnt that much) sent shomari and his 120,000 ++ salary packing. When you look at their roster, it's a who's who of who is that... we may be familliar with some of those names now but last year at this time,we were not. those 2nd year players on their team, i'd say about half their roster didn't get raises this off season.
  12. All true enough but the Bombers should have had even more cap space to outbid the Ticats if Laurent was a priority. Could be that there were plenty of bids and Laurent just won the Henry Burris lottery. The CFL would be a much more interesting venture to follow if all it's dealings were not clothed in secrecy. or maybe laurent just wanted to play closer to home and since hamilton is a contender and montreal is not, there you go. That matters too. The bombers signing laurent was nothing more than a few posters pipe dream, it was never going to happen. Sure, it would be nice if he signed here but sometimes reality i think needs to kick in and we need to realize, why the heck would he sign here? we sucked, we are rebuilding in a way, hamilton is a top team in the east(arguably they are the top team in the east) maybe the bombers did make him an offer and maybe it was a pretty huge offer but maybe like butler, he took less to play for a team that has a chance to win. Just want to add, in a few years maybe we are the team signing all these guys, i guess when you have good scouting and you can bring in guys like gable and who's that receiver they got? ellingson? that's not it but it's close amongst other guys they brought in last season, you can afford to sign guys like laurent butler fantuz etc. It's all about having a good scouting department so you can replace higher paid maybe past their prime players and replace them with future stars like gable and ellingson and etc. Hopefully if all goes to plan, we are that team in a year or 2 signing these "big name" players. Hamilton will have quite a bit of 2nd year players on that team, they don't cost as much as some of the vets they had in the past. That savings right there is more than enough, it's all about salary management and hamilton seems to trust their scouting department to be able to bring in rookies who play for cheap and can use the savings to sign guys like butler laurent etc.
  13. The salary cap will be the same for every team, unless hamilton is massively over the cap... why does it matter? They went with a young qb, probably part of the reason they decided to let burris go is because they knew the money they were paying him could be used to upgrade their piss poor defence. Collaros probably getting 200,000 less than what burris got, or so atleast. That right there plus the trade of shomari williams and some of the other moves they made, they have a rb on a rookie deal really, a couple receivers on a rookie deal too. I dont see a problem with this, not sure why anyone would make this in to a cba thing when its not, it's a salary cap thing. It is what it is. All teams will have the same cap.
  14. Keep in mind, when Butler signed with hamilton, it was reported that the bombers offered him more money so not all these guys are signing for the most money they can get, some just want the chance to win, austin is a winner, won the grey cup and took his team the first year to the grey cup... that matters. Reputation is huge in this league, players now that if you have austin as a coach, you have a chance to win. That matters more to some players. Not all of them care about making the most money possible.
  15. whats more impressive, the stamps going out to the dinosaur park or a few bomber players going all the way up to thompson.
  16. well they also named the entrances after several bomber players.... a ring of honour would be fine but really.... i don't think its that big of a deal to not have one right now. They have indeed honoured the past history of the team, just not so much in terms of what the op is thinking.
  17. no he bs'd them cuz bob wylie is an unprofessional ass. Ofcourse they knew. Geez man. Bob Irving confirms the obviousness O-line coach bob Wylie of bombers has unique deal--he can leave for a few days at a time to conduct coaching clinics--okayed by mike O'Shea again Iriving quote off the twitter feed to the right... Bomber o-line coach bob Wylie so highly regarded he's allowed to take days away to conduct previously arranged coaching clinics
  18. Well, one reason to sign in hamilton over montreal is hamilton is a legit contender, montreal? not so much. I don't see the issue with hamilton signing the guy, every team has the same salary cap so no big deal really. Hamilton decided to go with a younger cheaper qb, their backups arent being paid much either... They traded shomari williams and his large contract... I mean really... Henry + Shomari = enough money to sign probably both butler and laurent and even collaros.
  19. thought when swiston got injured last season, they said he wouldn't be ready in time for camp.
  20. also gotta keep in mind, smith, brescanin, the rifles receiver and briggs were all at rookie camp so this isn't their first time out on the field either. Sometimes, injuries just happen. It's day one of main camp, probably better to be safe than sorry, noone has been carted off tho right? so maybe they are just being cautious a bit with a few of them. no vets have been injured, just the guys who already had 3 practices already.
  21. Well technically beside his name there all it says is offensive line. The other positional coaches all have the word "coach" after their names, wylie does not. I dunno though, just throwing it out there.
  22. regarding wylie, When they announced they signed him, they technically didn't name him oline coach, just basically said he'd be helping out with the oline. Wonder if maybe he has other commitments the last couple of days. I guess technically he is our oline coach but... that's not what they are calling him is it?
  23. quite a bit of injuries it appears... smith,brescanin,goodrich,briggs...
  24. im guessing most of these "releases" have failed their physicals. I'm not sure any would be a great pickup.
  25. doubt it, he's gonna get bought out, those guys dont sign for much after they get bought out. I dont get the BURMI love. he was a failed atlanta draft pick.
