Doubt Bogo goes anywhere. Toby and buff both older. Team building through younger guys. Toby or buff go b4 Bogo. Anyone who thinks they trade a 24 25 year old d man hasn't been paying attention closely enough. Oh and Edmonton would probably have to add to get a number 1 d man. Eberle plus. Altho not sure exactly of the fascination with Eberle. The jets win by being good defensively. Eberle doesn't help that.

Out shot 37 19. Hutch was fantastic. Tough way to lose tho.

What else is new tho.

I think the Edmonton hate for every team goes back to when they were dominant, the rider fan base tho is a little interesting, not sure many of their current fans were even around then or fans of the CFL at that time, i wasn't really born back when the ESKS were dominating but i've been told countless times by plenty of people on how easy to hate they were. I've never liked the ESKS, maybe it's the color of green they wear, i just don't like it but something has always bothered me with the ESKS. Seems like recently, it's arrogance from guys like Kavis Reed and Hervey and before them, Tillman. I'm not really sure tho. Cuz for the last several years, outside of this past one, the esks haven't really been that great.. I dunno what it is but honestly if i was to personally rank teams in order of my dislike for them NO BS, i'm gonna say this, The riders are number 3, only because for some reason, i've always liked cheering for the teams that are comparable to Winnipeg, can say what you want about their fanbase but that rider team has been run like the bombers should have been the last several years. Order of Hate lol 1. Hamilton - this goes back to the Mike Kelly era, the boat incident in the endzone, didn't like it one bit and Austin in my opinion is as arrogant as they get plus their fan base pissed me off talking about IGF and how it was delayed, suppose a little bit of karma showed up for them when their stadium was delayed even longer 2. Edmonton - Just can't stand them, hate them.. really do. 3. Sask 4. Montreal - just another arrogant organization in my opinion 5. Toronto - Guess this is from being in the east for so long, all the eastern teams in the top 5 really 6. BC - BC Sucks right? but not as much as the other teams lol 7. Calgary - i honestly can't hate Huff and Dickenson. 8. Ottawa - Too new to hate but certainly don't like Desjardins and his arrogance that's for sure, you know what..Flip Calgary and Ottawa here actually... Dislike Ottawa more only due to the arrogance of Ottawas GM.

I expect WILD is still testing his NFL options out, once they have been exhausted, i'd expect him to sign up with the bombers again. Sears is a guy i'm not really sure what's going to happen with, he's a good player but he has been a little injury prone, maybe they have both decided to move on.

Big Game tonight... No Thornton for San Jose but no top 5 D man to start the year for the Jets, Clitty out, altho the way he has been playing recently, not a huge loss Hutch gets the start, he is the defacto starter it seems now GO JETS GO!!
-
Johnson could be replaced, he looked good but did seem like he may have been benched later in the season for some reason, not sure if it was injury related but... really 1 db shouldn't be that hard to find. Heck, maybe Stoudermire even takes Johnsons spot.
-
Really like this signing if true, keep Demond away from punt and kick off returns and he's a very good DB. Demond and Randle were darn near shut down last season on the one side together. With Stouds signed, Demond should just be able to concentrate on his DB duties.

Riders release; Bombers sign Dominic Picard
Goalie replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If this was Picard from 2 or 3 years ago, sign him up. No questions asked but it's not. -
LD was traded to Kelowna i believe so he probably would have played there until the world junior tourney. Regardless, They sent him back down, probably should have sent him down before his 9 game set in there earlier in the season but the Oilers needed a center badly. Mismanagement all around. Honestly, i'm an oiler fan and i Really think that team is being mismanaged badly and has been for some time.

I think they got the call wrong, it probably was pass interference and even defensive holding like the video there suggests but i will say this, there was over 8 minutes left in the game, yes that's not as much as 8 minutes left in a CFL game but... it's enough time for the lions to get the ball back, go downfield and score again. The thing nobody mentions in all this is, the next play stafford could have thrown an interception, we will never know... doubt it right but... it's not like that call or non call cost the lions the game exactly, could it have maybe lead to them losing the game? sure, but with over 8 minutes left in the game, that's enough time to get the ball back and score again. Forgive my ignorance, i turned the game off earlier but... what did the lions do on 4th and 1? did they punt? why not go for it? did they go for it and get stuffed? what did they do on 4th down? I'm a lions fan too and even i don't think it cost them the game, The lions are a team that starts off quick but then doesn't do anything the rest of the way, whole season they struggled against teams with winning records, cowboys had a winning record, it was 14-0 at one point, Lions could have put the cowboys away early but just couldn't do it. You can blame calls or non calls but reality in sports is, it's never just one call or non call that costs you the game.

Definitely agree with number 2. I'm not sure where i saw it but someone did a "chart" or "graph" of how much "action" actually happens in a 15 minute quarter in the NFL, and it was something silly like only 5 (not exactly) or so minutes of actual game time.

Riders release; Bombers sign Dominic Picard
Goalie replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'd pass on Picard only because i don't think he's as good as he once was and i doubt he accept what i'd offer him. What would i offer him? No signing bonus but a chance to win the job at training camp, one would assume he wouldn't accept that. If he would be willing to take a lesser deal and prove himself in camp vs the likes or Morley and Goossen, then sure i'd sign him but... not for as much money as he would want. I see him signing elsewhere, not sure where tho, maybe he goes back to Toronto or maybe Hamilton even. Honestly, looking around the league i don't see many spots open for a guy who really can only play center. -
I don't like trading a 24 25 year old on a good contract, it doesn't make sense, it's just not what the Jets will do i don't think. I see them possibly moving a lesser d man, maybe postma for a lesser top 9 forward, postma might get you something ok, postma and a pick (not 1st or 2nd) or maybe postma plus a prospect not named petan ehlers or morrissey. I don't see the Jets moving out one of the guys they are building around for a winger when in a year, maybe next year, they will need spots for a couple of the youngsters i mentioned. Toby might make sense to move but he has a no trade or no movement clause so he'd have to agree to it and i doubt any player with a no movement clause would agree to be traded to Edmonton at the moment.

I am glad someone else noticed this. I only watched the first two periods but dear lord it was bad. People claim Beyak is a homer but he's nowhere near as bad as those ding dongs were. They nit picked all the penalties , continually cried about Reimer being left out to dry and how he's a saviour, continued to talk about each mistake the Leafs made... it was nauseating. I was gonna mention this too, was brutal. From saying Chiarot is a call-up from the IceDogs to the whole Kane is our leading goal scorer thing to making excuses left right and center for the leafs, it was painful to listen too. Glenn Healy is awful and even the announcers during the game were terrible, It's a shock to me when Gary Galley seems like the only knowledgable guy there.
-
Ya. Clitty has been exposed like Pardy and Postma has been. It's buff and Chiarot right now carrying the load. Everyone else is not good. Harrison is probably 3rd best now.
-
Strombo is supposed to attract a new younger generation. I'm not sure it's working. What are the ratings like. That is the only number that matters. I have heard they aren't as strong as past seasons. Perhaps sportsnet has alienated some fans, from comments I'd guess they have. Not just from this forum but others as well. Seems lots of people don't care for the new hockey night in canada. Imo it's not just Strombo it's the entire setup they have. All the analysts suck. The announcers too. It's just bad and kind of amateur.
-
You are expecting too much too soon. That's the problem. Team is exceeding expectations. Without the top 4 d and kane now too. See what happens when everyone is back. It's very irrelevant what side they play. If your top 6 d are right handed you play them but jets top 6 aren't when they are healthy.
-
Galliardi looked good last night. He just needs a chance and he will be fine. Gonna admit I was wrong about buff. He is a very good d man. Beast mode right now. Toby Bogo Buff Chiarot Trouba Stuart Who cares what way they shoot. It's kind of irrelevant Oh and Jokinen wouldn't help. He is sucking. Darn near healthy scratched in Nashville. Not a good year for Joki. I'd rather galliardi or an ahl call up get a shot. Roy is done. So is Heatley.

Just saying but buffalo was saying all along that they wanted Reihnart and not Ekblad so even if Buffalo did get the 1st pick, they would have got they guy they took at 2. And Besides when you look at this years draft, you can't really go wrong with any of the top 3, If The Oilers win the lottery, hope they don't but if they do, i could see them trading that pick cuz how is another small forward going to help them? The Oilers if lucky will get the 3rd overall pick and get the guy they really need in Hanifin, Oiler fans can tell you whatever they want but their biggest issue is they lack D, people talk about Nurse but he's just a prospect, he may be a bust, Hanifin might be too but in the long run, for the Oilers and their needs, Hanifin might actually be the better choice.

The Islanders are just a better team than we are, especially without our TOP 4 D men. We could probably compete with them with our top 4 but when it's buff and 5 AHL calibre guys, not a chance. Isles dominated us from start to finish, and got all the breaks. Do have to say that the officiating in this one made me shake my head at times, Not sure if its reputation but it seems The Isles got away with some calls that the Jets wouldn't have. Refs obviously got to a few of the players too and the coaches for that matter, Buff being one who obviously lost it a bit later in the game, can't say i blame him, that was a pretty weak call on him to put the isles on the 5-3 PP. Pav played well, had no chance on 3 of the goals for sure, the 4th one, little weak to say the least but Nielsen probably should have been called for elbowing chiarots head earlier in the play at the isles blue line.

Ugly or Wonderful ... your gut hunch for 2015
Goalie replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Alright let's make a legit prediction based on nothing but a gut feeling at this time, I feel we will be better than last season, I think Walters does everything he can to bring in some quality oline (holmes i think is a guy they go after hard)(if he is still a free agent that is). I think the D will be better regardless of who the coordinator is, i think Willy having a full season as a starter behind him will get better, I think having a stable running game will make a difference, I see the team as of now making the playoffs, i see teams like SASK and even Edmonton falling off a bit, I don't know what to expect from BC, I expect Calgary to still be the team to beat, BC could go either way, If Lulay is healthy, they might be good, if not, it's going to be a long year for them. I see the bombers finishing anywhere from 2nd to 4th in the West, making the playoffs, and at this time, I'm going to say losing in the western final to Calgary, who will repeat as Grey Cup Champs. 11-7, 10-8 somewhere around there. Think we will see more parity this season in the division and the CFL as a whole. -

The poll results tell a different story. Not many Kreskins on the board. -
Ugly or Wonderful ... your gut hunch for 2015
Goalie replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
In all seriousness, I feel like i should wait until 2015 to actually make a prediction, I'll get back to this one once we 1. Get to 2015 2. Name a DC 3. Reach Free Agency 4. The Draft and 5. Training Camp. -
Ugly or Wonderful ... your gut hunch for 2015

we also lost several games by a touchdown or less too. This board man, you guys always look for the negatives in everything, it's crazy.. of those 11 losses, 5 or 6 were by a touchdown or less, instead of being 7-11 we could have been 12-5.
