  1. http://www.tsn.ca/report-nhl-approves-potential-owners-for-las-vegas-expansion-1.133540 Interesting little article there. Sounds like it's only a matter of time.
  2. Jets have a ton of depth in goal... It's actually their biggest strength really.. Let's just forget about Pavelec for a second, They got Hutch,Helle,Comrie,Kasdorf (really solid year at school), Budaj even. Goaltending is not really a need for them actually. Besides, I think I'd rather have Fucale over Tokarski but really we have no room or need for another "backup" goalie. Montreal? It would have to start with Gallagher, Jets aren't giving Kane away for free.. you need someone to replace Kane and Gallagher would probably best fit the fold, he might get killed in the West tho. Then you add from there since Nobody is forcing the Jets to move kane, Someone wants Kane? They have to overpay... Gallagher, a D prospect (Beuulieu,Tinordi or even Greg Pateryn) and a 1st on top of that even. Jets only trade Kane if they get a significant over payment Islanders? They don't have a 1st in 2015 so I don't think they are a likely trading partner, They have a ton of talent tho, I'm just not sure they are willing to move the guys it would take to get Kane.. You gotta think Strome or Nelson to start, Maybe De Haan or Griffin Reinhardt, plus something else I'm sure. Jets only trade Kane if someone over pays. Pacioretty and a goalie and a pick is not over paying... That's the JEts getting screwed really.
  3. Gibson wasn't give the best cast of characters to work with either, whats that old saying? can't make chicken salad out of chicken crap?
  4. Proves once again that these divisional all star nominations are pretty much a joke. I don't really care but to ignore randle and even Lirim here is mind boggling. Mo Leg too but T brack is pretty good but.. thought Mo Leg might have been better.
  5. Unless Kane has asked to be moved, i doubt it, i don't see him getting moved anytime soon, if at all. Every time POMO talks, he says kane is pretty much the prime example of what the Jets are all about, Speed,Size etc. Kane also looks to be having a good time out there, frustrated i'm sure because of the lack of scoring but he looks like he's having fun and trying his ass off to make a difference every shift. He's been a good boy too and just the definition of what you want in a hockey player. These rumors are bogus, they always are with EKLUND, the guy just makes stuff up constantly. If you believe Eklund, The flyers would have had kane by now or some other team, today i guess is a slow day so he decided to write about Montreal and New York.
  6. He's been with the team a few years now, How do we really know what he could bring, Can't keep recycling the same old names over and over and over, eventually gotta give someone new a chance to show what they can do. I'm not saying name Howell OC now but in a year or so, I wouldn't be shocked if he's a strong candidate.
  7. I dunno why but i do get the feeling that Howell will eventually be our OC. Some may not like him but it seems like he has the respect of the players, is a former player himself, has done his time, perhaps a little too green right now but... in a year or so, i could see him being the OC. I think MB stays for some reason.
  8. Here are 3 names that come to mind 1. Orlando Steinhauer - surely his contract is up after this season, Him and O'shea are good friends, name his assistant coach/Defensive Coordinator but i'm not convinced he'd want to leave Hamilton 2. Baron Miles - SASK, was rumored to be a candidate last year but apparently didn't want to be a DC, was content with stay in SASK.. perhaps he is willing to move on 3. Dennis McPhee - DL Hamilton. Has been with the ticats for 12 seasons tho, so he has quite a bit of roots there, but what you are getting with him is the great unknown. Another name is a name that was rumored to be on the staff this year.. Cooper Harris, again the great unknown. Surely, there is someone from Calgary who could be a DC too but again, the great unknown. These are probably the only realistic candidates out there. And a few of them, mainly all of them, the great unknown and how realistic are they?
  9. It's EKLUND so, there is no truth to any of this so it's not worth talking about. Give me a source other than Eklund and Then i'll talk about it but since it's here, just want it to be clear tho..this guy is known to blow smoke out of peoples asses all the time. Habs? NOBODY at all.. Isles? a lot but doubt they would be willing to move what it would take to get him. I'd imagine a first round pick would be needed and the Isles don't have one and the HABS pick probably wouldn't be enough. Habs? Start with either Gallagher or Galychenyuk, That's probably reality so in other words... Not happening Isles? where do i begin but they don't have a first round pick so Not happening.
  10. Yeah It's all about TV for sure, The shoot-out itself was probably intended to draw higher ratings, "it's exciting" and all that stuff.. I'd love to see the Tv Numbers of a game through 60 minutes and then see it for the shoot-out if it makes it that far, I wonder if it actually makes a difference ratings wise.
  11. then go to a 4-4 10 minute OT and take away the loser point. So teams actually try to win it IN OT instead of playing for the shoot-out which lots of teams pretty obviously do. If it's tied after the 10 minutes, each team gets 1 point and you call it a day.
  12. Pretty much. I would have to agree. I'm not the biggest Pavelec fan, he does have to prove it, but so far he has. To blame him for giving up one "bad" goal when the team in front of him can't score 1 of their own is just insanity.
  13. And you are ignoring the bigger fact.. and that is, The team doesn't score enough goals to win. Jesus man, the guy is giving up less than 2 goals per game in the NHL.. On most teams, you win every one of those games unless you run in to some goalie who is playing out of his mind that night, Which pavelec has done pretty much the entire season. End of the year? Sure, but if the team can't score more than 1.5 goals per game, it's really irrelevant. You blame him for one bad goal, but the team couldn't score 1 goal of their own. How do you ignore that?
  14. Interesting, sacrificial lamb for a team who had no receivers and for a team who over paid for a QB that is somewhat on the decline. Bomber Interest? I'd suspect slim to none.
  15. Let's break it down.. simple and easy style Jets have played 16 games They are 8-6-2 They have Scored 30 goals in those 16 games, 32 goals = 2 goals per game. They won their opener 6-2.. so in the 15 games since then, they have scored 24 goals 24/15 = about 1.5 if that goals per game. Basically, if Pav doesn't get a shut-out, the Jets don't win. Pavelec himself, started 14 games but has played in 15... In those 15 games, he has given up you ready for this? 29 goals. Less than 2 goals per game. His GAA (1.99) and save percentage (9.28) is top 10 in the league.. But his record is 7-5-2. Crazy that the guy on average gives up 2 or less goals per game, yet the team in front of him can only score 1.5 This blaming Pavelec stuff people do every game, or after every loss is ridiculous, He's giving up less than 2 goals per game.. What more do you want him to do? Get a shut-out every night? Cuz that's realistic for sure. What might have been? What is likely to have happened since it is what happened is the Jets lose 2-0 instead of 3-0, The empty netter still would have happened and the Jets still wouldn't have scored.
  16. That's ok...I don't really like someone not admitting that the 2nd goal was a bad one...watch again...him trying to do a slow shuffle across the crease. That goal was a killer despite the fact the Jets were snakebit. Who knows? That goal doesn't go in and maybe they do score. We'll never know. The team didn't score 1 goal tho, yeah it was a bad goal but it doesn't matter because if that goal didn't happen, it would have ended 1 or 2-0 anyway, because they scored an empty netter, when the team in front of you can't score 1 goal, does it really matter if the 2nd goal you give up is a weak one? Why does it matter, Jets can't score. Doen't matter if he gives up a bad goal, every goalie does, 1-0, 2-0,3-0, The one constant is the 0 there for the Jets. Sure it matters...always matters in one way or another when a goalie gives up a bad goal. That's ok...I don't really like someone not admitting that the 2nd goal was a bad one...watch again...him trying to do a slow shuffle across the crease. When the team can't score a goal and you are expecting your goalie to give up 1 or less goals a game, hell even 2 or less, this is the NHL, you aren't going to win. Seriously, your one post is going on about a bad goal in a game where the team in front of him didn't score any. How do you ignore the fact that the team didn't score, It's irrelevant if he let in a "bad goal", Cuz the Jets themselves didn't score any. I don't get this here, blaming a goalie for a bad goal? Ok it wasn't a great goal but it's irrelevant when the team in front of you can't score 1 goal even. It's not like the Jets have been winning games because they have been lighting the lamp, they have been winning games cuz they score 1 goal and Pav saves their asses and then wins it in a shoot-out or OT. I'd be with you but.. fact is this team is average less than 2 goals scored per game, you take away that 6 goal season opening performance and it's actually under 2 goals scored per game, how do you expect to win when you are expecting your goalie to get a shut-out every night?

  18. Whatever i guess. Don't really like it as i was a former goalie myself and really didn't like shoot-outs at all, thought it was pretty unfair to be honest, it's a skills competition, i mean why not just have the hardest shot competition or see what guy can hit the 4 targets in the net the quickest. I dunno, think the reasoning behind it is so it keeps playoff races tighter, i do believe that is the reasoning, winner gets 2, loser gets 1.. Instead of 1 and 1 each.. Something about that tho is the reason for it... Also probably has a lot to do with tv deals and things, i think a continuous OT is great in the playoffs but i'm not sure about it in the regular season. What i would have liked them to do instead of going to the shoot-out after 5, is play an extra 5 or make it 10 minute ot or go 3-3 instead of 4-4. If tied after the 3-3 10 minute period, ok then go to the shoot-out. I'm just happy the shoot-out is only for the regular season cuz i couldn't imagine losing say the stanley cup finals in a skills competition.
  19. Can't blame PAv who played very well and was the only real reason the Jets were in the game, Don't really like cherry picking the goalie for one bad goal when the team in front of him couldn't even score One goal of their own. Jets tho are quite snake bitten right now, could have probably had 5 goals for, just for some reason they are gripping the sticks a little too hard right now. Thought it was a good game, Jets played well actually, just couldn't score. Can't win them all i guess.
  20. Sunday night i believe, they were in montreal a few days a head of time. It was the new recruits initiation stuff, So yeah they partied pretty hard but it was 2 days before the game took place so didn't really effect them too much. People would be quite surprised to hear about all the drinking they actually do, they do it here, they do it on the road, It is what it is.
  21. Trestman has a reputation about getting the best out of his quarterbacks, What's kind of sad is he probably is getting the best out of Cutler. I'm not a huge bears fan but from what i remember, they never have really been very good offensively. They have really built themselves on their defence. This years team and even going back maybe 3 or 4 years now are terrible defensively. Is that on Trestman? It might be because he is the head coach but he's only been there for a couple seasons now. That D started going downhill prior to him getting there, I think it's on the GM, signing guys on the downside of their career, allen comes to mind, is not really doing anything to fix the D. I wish Trestman the best of luck, i really do, he's a good guy and deserves a better fate but i guess when coach killer Cutler is your qb and he was just signed to an extension, well.. what can trestman really do. Trestman might be the coach but it's pretty obvious he doesn't really have full control over there. It's hard to say without knowing exactly what he has to deal with there but... for all we know, he knows what the problems are (On O it's Cutler for sure), On D it's everything really, maybe he's asked the GM to do something but the GM hasn't really done much to help. Hard to say. Was Cutler this bad last year? I didn't think so.. but earlier in the year, it came out that a few current (maybe former) players called out Cutler as not being someone you want to play for, If guys don't want to play for him, or don't think he's good enough, Then there are bigger problems than just trestman in Chicago.
  22. Expansion teams are supposed to suck, i don't think i could name a sport that has had an expansion team who were any good in their first year or even 2 or 3.. that goes for hockey, baseball, football, name it really. Personally i think allowing Ottawa to take 2 QB's wasn't fair to the rest of the league. That right there is more than most other leagues would allow an expansion team to have. Look at the NHL, NFL, NBA even, the most recent expansion teams struggled for years, they weren't any good for a while and some still aren't, Jacksonville Jaguars anyone?? lol Ottawa definitely had their fair share of talent to chose from, but without knowing who was available in the expansion draft and who wasn't, Ottawa could some pretty solid guys out of that and probably could have had a couple more if they weren't so arrogant, why take kohlert when you know he won't sign there, why take HAGE when he said he would retire if he was taken by Ottawa. They could have had 2 extra players there, who? who really knows but fact is... just having the ability to take 2 QB's means that that expansion draft was very fair to them. Besides, when it really comes down to it, who cares, why would anyone want Ottawa to be any better than they are? If there fans expected them to be some sort of powerhouse team their first year, they were kidding themselves cuz like i said, you look at the NHL (tampa bay,san jose) NFL (Jacksonville,Carolina), NBA (the raptors) those teams sucked for a while but over time and through solid drafting and free agency, some of those teams have turned themselves around, Some havent (mainly Jacksonville) but most certainly have but it doesn't happen in one year and it shouldn't.
  23. That was a good road game by the JETS... they deserved the 2 points for sure. The reffing was pretty brutal and while watching i was pretty bored, but not because of the game, but because of the commentary, if randorf and especially galley could have made it any more clear that they were cheering for Ottawa, like c'mon. I've watched all 3 or 4 games they have had on sportsnet and i've been dead bored listening to it. The games haven't been awful but the commentary certainly has been. No respect for the JETS what so ever from Sportsnet. None, 8-5-2. 3rd in the central, probably the toughest division in hockey, 6-0-2 in the last 8 or something like that...But do they even mention that once? NOPE. Jets are actually one of the hottest teams in hockey right now, but do we get any respect? Nope, it's ridiculous actually. and TSN too, man seriously you show the highlights and then you talk to 2 ottawa players after the game and no Jet players? WTF.
  24. Pav was outstanding in the shoot-out and all game. Great road win by the Jets, not their best game but 2 points is 2 points.
