LOL. it's been 3 games and 2 vs 2 of the best teams in the leauge the last 5 years, san jose played 2 games and gave up no goals in those 2 games, it's not like we were playing against bottom feeders here, the fact we finished 1-2 on that very tough road trip to open the season, and 2 of those games on back to back nights, pretty decent. Anyone expecting the Jets to beat the kings and sharks, maybe i was hoping they could beat the Sharks cuz i didn't think the Sharks would be very good this year, but then i remembered the sharks only suck in the playoffs, they dominate the regular season.... 1-2 on a tough 3 games in 4 nights trip is a pretty decent start to the season really. Injuries suck tho.

His twitter feed says otherwise. Reading between the lines on his tweets, pretty obvious he asked to be released because he was replaced by Cotton.
-
I honestly don't think Paris will do much better, we play calgary twice and bc once, those are probably 2 of the best 3 teams in terms of run defense this season... but i hope he is given a fair shot, i honesly don't see him doing much because our oline is that bad but... if they give him a hole and he can break a leg tackle, he's already done more than grigsby, must be frustrating for the oline to open up a hole for a back only to see that back was tripped off in the back field cuz he couldn't break a shoe string type tackle.
-
I agree, and i feel by just adding 2 solid american tackles, that would make a difference. Gotta be honest here, January has had a pretty brutal season, really bad actually, way more bad than good, him sucking has probably lead to a guy like greaves, who january plays beside not playing that great either, when your buddy beside you is sucking, you are probably going to try to over compensate a bit and try to do more than you should. I think if we can find 2 american tackles, and one canadian (guard) we should be ok. Holmes is a guy i'd go after, he's a starter immediately, Draft a guy too. Reality is, if we get some luck.. and some growth and actually get a guy in the draft who can play right now.. That oline can be significantly changed in one off season, need some luck there tho.
-
But he kind of is, because at times the oline has given him holes to run through, all he had to do was run through a leg tackle or make one guy miss and he had plenty of yards in front of him but more often than not, grigsby couldn't run through that leg tackle, always seemed to get tripped up by those little leg tackles that every back in the league runs right through. I always thought Grigsby was kind of an odd one, on the field i mean, how? Well it seemed like he could break the tackles where you think he shouldn't, he could push the pile at times but.. the tackles you think he should be able to break, nope, didn't do it. The little leg tackles, the "shoe string" type tackles, never could break those ever.

We have good backups but right now those backups are playing because our depth is so poor, like mentioned above, Thomas is a good player, he shouldn't be a starter tho but as a backup? he's pretty solid, same with sherman, probably not a starter exactly but as a backup? pretty solid. We all knew our Canadian depth would be an issue, you had to be crazy to think it could be fixed in one off season, the reality tho for the Canadian depth situation is it's gonna take some time to be where we truly need to be, couple seasons at least, if not more, took how many years to get to this point? Can't fix it in one or 2 off seasons, gonna take time. The canadian depth issue is going to be an on going topic for some time i feel American depth though? well, they have brought some guys in, Daniels and Anderson on the OL, brought in Tyler also, tried howard, jones, tried a few different guys there, they are trying but guess haven't found that guy yet, maybe daniels and anderson can be those guys, thought Tyler has looked ok the last couple games. He seems capable at least. Hopefully once we are officially eliminated some of the PR guys are given their chance. Would love to see it, Really hope to see Anderson and Daniels get a game or 2 to show what they can do.

A team desperate for a back like Hamilton might take a flier on him. Or a team desperate for someone who can catch the ball like Ottawa may use him as a receiver. A team desperate for a back like Hamilton might take a flier on him. Or a team desperate for someone who can catch the ball like Ottawa may use him as a receiver. Haha! Let's hope it's Ottawa! It won't be anybody. I can almost guarantee it, Ottawa has 2 pretty good backs, that williams guy is pretty good and i don't see any other teams picking him up.. who? maybe BC but i doubt it, there oline is as bad as ours.
-
You know what, you had a guy like Cotton and i'm not the biggest cotton fan, but... he has done all that has been asked of him, got sent to the IR, sent to the PR, told to sit game after game after game and while it did come out that his agent was looking for other opportunities, he stuck around on the PR and never really bitched or complained at least in public like grigsby did, I'm not the biggest fan of Cotton but i'll take a guy with his attitude over a guy like Grigsbys every day. Grigsby benched for one game, one friggin game and then quits? Good riddance really.

some fun stats Grigsby only had 1 game of rushing for more than 100 yards, that was the first game of the season 21 carries for 121 yards his next highest rushing total was about 2 months and 1 week later where he had 10 carries for 73 yards his last 3 games as a bomber 32 carries 121 yards quite amazing actually, just having some fun here, remove his best and worst games.. and he has 131 carries for 615 yards... or about a 4.6 yard average, you add those 2 games (his best and worst) and his average is still 4.6 yards. That worst game i referred to, vs sask.. 10 carries for 7 yards.. his longest run that game was 6 yards so that means he had 9 carries for 1 yard. Thats awful. Another game there, 15 carries for 19 yards.. longest run was 17 yards... meaning he had 14 carries for 2 yards? seriously?? wow I know you can't really do that but if you actually remove his one big run of the game, his average drops significantly, like it's tiny, probably about a 3 yard average per run if you eliminate his one big run per game, i know i know, can't do that but still.. it's telling really. http://www.cfl.ca/roster/show/id/5261

You got some people saying they shouldn't have released him and should have traded him instead.. to who exactly tho? I'd like to know who the heck would trade for this guy.. nobody, BC's anatolin is better, nobody trades for below average running backs in the CFL. why do people think this?
-
The reactions by some fans on twitter is classic, couple days ago everyone wanted grigsby gone, now that he is, some people are upset about it. I'll never truly understand this fan base at all, want the guy gone, 2 days later he is, and then complain about it? whaaaatttt Sounds to me like the guy quit, he got benched and then quit.. benched for one game and then quit, those aren't the type of players i want on my team.
-
Anyone have any idea what Penton is talking about.. said the bombers are a mess, their leading rusher and receiver quit? did denmark quit too?
-
Cuz I don't want too ?
-
His tweets really do tell you the story.
-
Not gonna post his tweet but he asked to be released.
-
Shocking but Irving said he didn't want to accept his role as backup running back. Guess not really a team player.

Odds and Sods - Winnipeg Blue Turkeys vs Edmonton Eskimoes
Goalie replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hey max I disagree completely with this. Not sure why you'd say that? Unless your being sarcastic - in which case maybe you should re-read my post. Or phone Khari Jones and ask him how his shoulder is doing. Tell me, what's the point of playing your #1 guy, who you are banking on for next year and beyond, with a banged up hand and shoulder, with an offensive line that can't block and zero running game. Go ahead, I'm listening, I'd love to hear you non-sarcastic comment on why playing Willy to finish out the string (who btw is probably the worst QB in the league right now - don't believe me look at his stats the last few games - don't take my word on it) and risk his career on a lost season. I agree it would be good to rest Willy, but unless he is not ready to go Doctor wise, or until we are officially eliminated from the playoffs, I still think you'll see him playing. I'm not sure why some people don't seem to understand that Willy is a first year starter and needs the reps. If he's healthy, you play him. It's that simple. If he struggles you take him out, if he's banged up you take him out but the guy is a first year starter and these are very valuable reps for him. -
No point in bringing up Collaros, he didn't want to come here. It's pointless to even bring his name up.
-
Not sure if Edmonton was playing off a bit, i don't really think so, don't see Chris Jones doing that but Brohm actually looked half decent out there. Put up some yards, moved the ball, didn't go 2 and out that often, Looked good. If Brohm was struggling sure, put in Marve but Brohm wasn't struggling, for a guy with no many actual game reps, he looked pretty decent all things considered. Like it or not, Brohm is the backup qb, he's a vet of sorts too, most guys like him are the backups. Marve is the first year player learning the new game, do i hope Marve gets a few reps when we are officially eliminated next week, yup.. i hope he gets some time in the last game of the year, i hope lots of the PR guys do too, let's see what they got. But Brohm looked pretty decent last night and actually moved the ball. He wasn't the issue that's for sure.

I think i'm in the fire MB camp more than the Fire ETCH camp, the offense has been absolutely terrible the last several weeks, Willy or whichever QB is in there is being sacked left right and center, being pressured on every play, the damn offense had like 1 yard yesterday to Edmontons 181 yards at one point in that game. I can't blame the D when the offense keeps going 2 and out over and over and over and over. These last 2 games though, it does seem like the D has been exposed a wee bit but i think the main reason for that is because the Offense can't move the ball, MB's play calling has become predictable, we see it every game, Yesterday again, cotton with a nice 5 6 yard run on first, 2nd down we throw it 25 yards... we keep doing that over and over and over and it doesn't work. I think the D has obviously gotten a bit exhausted really the last couple games, I will say this though, i honestly expected Edmonton to hit 50 yesterday easily, 37-0 at half and not all those points on the D but.. honestly said its gonna be 50-0 cuz our offense can't do a damn thing. When the D is on the field for the majority of the first half, yeah points are going to be scored. Part of the issue yesterday was our Offense kept going 2 and out and we were in poor field position due to some good kicks by edmonton and also due to some poor plays by woods to actually field some of those kicks, i can see why he was benched actually. You can't keep blowing things up every year and expecting different results, isn't that the definition of insanity? doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? how many times are we going to have to fire coordinators or coaches or gm's or bring in new players, keep doing it and if they struggle the first year eventhough the only 2 games they really have struggled big time is the last 2 games, keep firing guys? expecting different results? Honestly,I'm surprised at some of these comments, you'd think most of the folks on here would understand that it would take more than 1 even 2 seasons to actually be where we need to be, we have been competitive in every game this year outside of 2 really, 3 if you want to include BC but we were in that game up until the 4th, the offense couldn't move the ball again. Can't keep firing guys and bringing other guys in, when does that cycle stop? isn't it the same one we have been on the last 10 years or so? hire a guy, fire him, new guy struggles, fire him, and people wonder why we have a hard time attracting people to come play here? With that being said tho, I'd fire MB because there are a few guys out there who probably would bring a different look, Dyce is one of the guys i'd go after, Jackson is probably another, Millonovich is definitely another if he doesn't want to deal with Toronto again, he's actually #1 on the list but i think its unlikely he would take an OC role when he could probably get a head coaches job. DC? who is out there? not much really, not many at least that i can think of, maybe if benevides is fired in BC, he'd be a guy i'd look at to replace ETCH, that BC d has been good for a long time, Campbell or Nelson in Ottawa too, Campbell has been a pretty good DC in the league, was with calgary and ottawa has a pretty good group too, Is that Nelson or is it Campbell? Gut tells me it's campbell due to the past success he's had with Calgarys D.

Maybe it's just me but the CFL refs certainly seem to love the camera time. In other sports, you don't see nearly as many calls as you do in a CFL game. I'm under the impression that a good ref is seen but rarely heard. Let them play guys, stop hogging the spot light really. Nobody is at the game to see the REFS, that's for damn sure. I don't know one person who has ever paid 80 bucks or more to watch the refs out there and some games this year, it seems the refs time of possession is higher than both other teams time of possession, by that i mean, the ref gets more tv time than the other teams offenses do. It's not cool. It needs to stop, it's ruining the game. Some games have been pretty poor so far in the CFL and those poor games are partially because the refs call a penalty on every other play.. remember that Montreal Bomber game earlier in the year, took like 2.5 hours to get to half time, sure part of it was because both teams sucked but, a bigger part of it was because the refs were throwing flags left right and center. CFL refs seem to love the spotlight more than any other refs in any sport out there.

Not a good game vs LA, again the first period just like In San Jose killed them, Hutch didn't look so good tonight, 3rd goal was very weak.... I liked the idea of starting Hutch on the back to back scenario but man PAV has been playing pretty damn well and played pretty damn well tonight too when he was put in the game. Hutch didn't get much help out there tho, that's for sure, kind of left out to dry a few times but he's gotta make that save on the third goal, that was the straw that broke our back for sure, we started taking it to LA and then boom weak call, good bye momentum, I dunno.. Our depth is a concern for sure, Thorburn should not be on the ice ever, he's just awful and brings nothing... Trouba has not looked good either, sophomore slump it seems for Jacob so far, Scheif looks good, just needs to bury some chances, Our depth is awful tho and when you lose buff to a game misconduct (pretty weak call there gotta admit, have rarely seen that called a penalty, so i'd be a little peaced off too ) and kane is hurt, our depth really is being pushed hard and it's not good enough. When Kane got hurt opening night, i was like damn, bet they wish they would have kept one of petan or ehlers up so they can get some NHL reps, cuz the depth we have now, it's truly not good enough. This Jets team has some talent, they still have some holes though, unforunately with kane hurt, instead of being a 3 line team, we are back too being a 2 line team. I do have to admit tho and i'm not blaming the refs or anything, jets have killed off all their penalties so far but... man, the refs have definitely missed a few calls the last couple games, blatant ones too, I guess though when you are a good team like SJ or LA, you are gonna get the benefit of the doubt at times but man regher on scheif and it's 2 minutes for tripping? dude stuck his knee out on Scheif, intent to injure, should have been gone, or carter with like 4 or 5 hooks to scheifs hands, i dunno man.

You know it's funny, craig butler has had a pretty terrible year for Hamilton, he hasn't been very good at all. Possibly the worst year of his career, I see how it works with some people though, if you have heard of the guy, in other words if TSN or the media has told you that player is good, then people want him. Newman was an under the radar signing that helped improve our Canadian depth, something that we are lacking hardcore, him getting hurt was not good, it hurt us lots, more than some people care to realize or admit. Not sure some of you understand how piss poor our canadian depth was and still is, any time you can add a guy like Newman to your roster, you are improving your Canadian depth. Butler would have been nice sure, but you know what, Leggett is a pretty damn good safety.

I'm not a huge fan of Bryant but 2 more wins if he was never brought in? That's crazy talk. The biggest negative factor to our offense this season has been our oline and the fact that our #1 receiver has been injured the last several weeks. Bryant isn't the reason or only reason we are "struggling" on offense thats for certain. GBills GF is probably right in all this. Bryant showed hustle, meaningless play? when you have a young team trying to learn that the game isn't over until the final whistle blows, i would say that wasn't a meaningless play at all.. Last few years we saw multiple players quit on every play the minute the other team had a 10 point lead... I wouldn't call hustling down field to save a touchdown a meaningless play at all, especially when you are trying to show guys that the game isn't over until its over.. can say what you will but there have been so many games over the years where teams have been down by 20 or more even in the final quarter or final few minutes of the game and came back and won, Toronto vs Hamilton was an example, Winnipeg vs BC a few years ago is another. If im the coach, I'll take a Romby Bryant hustle play like that over most anything else, i'm just curious tho in all of this, did anyone see where kelly was on this play? was he on the ground? did he fall down and not get back up? gave up on the play? It's an important piece that nobody has mentioned yet, where the hell was aaron kelly on that play?
