  1. Didn't Ottawa sign him to the PR? he's not even on the active roster, only reason they signed him is because demarco is done for the year, If anyone thinks Elliot will get any playing time being behind burris and 2 other guys, You are kidding yourself. I'm not sure why they brought him in but i'd suspect he doesn't see the field and i suspect he is released in the off season. The only logical reason for them to sign him is because he has some cfl experience but then why did they sign him to the PR and not add him to the active roster.
  2. Not comparing Ehlers to Patrick Kane but when Patrick Kane started in the NHL, he weighed less than Ehlers.
  3. Grigsby hasn't fumbled the ball once either, pretty impressive stat. Give grigsby an Oline and i think you see good things.
  4. Paul Lapolice? Knowing Joey?
  5. Paul Friesen ✔ @friesensunmedia Why Mike O'Shea's late third-down decision in Regina was wrong. In your Thursday Sun. Or at http://winnipegsun.com Well, i'm more convinced than ever that it was the right call.
  6. Bryant certainly not the long-term answer to our receiving problem but he's the best journeyman we have right now and still might be capable of delivering a solid outing if Willy drills the ball into his facemask. Moore seemed to get open a lot but his ball-handling abilities are highly suspect. Romby also drops the odd one when he tracks back after gaining 1st down yardage and tries to turn an 11 yd gain into an 8 yd gain. At least Watson, Guardino, Denmark, etc. seem to know how to fall forward and maximize gains. Romby and Moore (particularly Romby) have developed nasty habits of thinking their 4.8 speed legs can out run 4.6 and 4.7 guys with the advantage of closing angles! Moore has like 2 fumbles all season, 1 we recovered, Why no mention of all the big catches he's made?
  7. This sort of thing is what got a good coach (Dave Ritchie) fired. Little bit of difference there, O'shea is a rookie head coach, Ritchie was not. O'shea will learn from his mistakes. I think what people need to remember is we have a rookie head coach who will make mistakes at times, maybe he's playing those guys over other guys because they are actually better options, really hard to sit here, don't care if you go to a practice or not, none of us are in the meeting rooms or the film study rooms, none of us have any clue as to why they make the decisions they make but you can believe this, you can bet your butt that they are making those decisions because they feel it gives them the best chance to win. Yup Ritchie lost his job, and one day O'shea will too. It's the life of the coach. In all sports. 6-4, double the wins from last season, competitive in every game really.. Who honestly expected that? All with a rookie coach and basically a rookie qb who hasn't played one full season in the league... Willy has made 14 starts, 10 this year... Not even a full season. This team is on the right track.
  8. I like O'shea as a coach, he's done more good for sure but the one criticism i'd have of him is his loyalty to veterans who don't produce. Kuale and Bryant being 2 examples. Although I'm sure he's listening to his coordinators here quite a bit too. But maybe he shouldn't.
  9. No, i mean, ticats have so much national dline depth that one of those guys will be moved eventually, my money is on gill being moved and my money is on the bombers trading for him.
  10. HMM, that 1960's mentality of people who live in "smaller cities" is alive and well still. Pretty obvious who doesn't go to games in Winnipeg. Fact is, Vancouver and Toronto are not sports cities, they are very much bandwagon cities, They only care when there teams are good and or winning, Winnipeg is not like that at all, We are a better sports city, we might even be the best sports city in the entire country.. Goldeyes,Bombers,Jets all play on the same day.. you are gonna have 7000 at the baseball game, you will have 15,000 + at MTS centre, You will have 30,000 + at IGF.. It's happend before where they all played on the same day and drew sellouts or damn near sellouts to each of their games. Bigger cities have more things to do? Lol, like what? go to bars? restaraunts? movies? sports events? what? go to the beach? we got beaches too... Seriously, besides more people, which doesn't always mean better, what the hell does vancouver and Toronto have that other smaller cities don't? It's not about how many people and to be honest, it isn't even about where those people come from, cuz Little old Winnipeg is the culturally diverse capital of Canada, means we got people of all shapes sizes colours and races, We got the highest french population outside of Quebec and If you go to a baseball, hockey or football game here, you see people of all shapes sizes race and colours. Comes down to what i said at the start... Vancouver and Toronto are not good sports cities, Winnipeg is.
  11. A leopard (especially long in the tooth like etch) can't change it's spots. While i agree, i do see some irony in using that in a response to Nate. Actually a heck of a lot of irony.
  12. Don't think Thigpen was ever a legit option for the bombers anyway. Fan rumours are great though for sure.
  13. No team has signed him yet, he's either waiting for a shot with another NFL team, has no interest in coming back to the CFL is toxic or is asking for way too much money. Believe what you want but... he's a one dimensional pass rushing defensive end. I like the guy, like how he plays but i could see how teams would shy away from that. Are we a pass rushing defensive end away from being a dominating team? Nope.
  14. Gotta agree with that. Whether it's putting Bolton in as the extra RB or McGuffie in as a receiver, It's time these guys got a chance otherwise what's the point in keeping them around. They have been here a while now. Let's see what they got. Anyone go to Practice? How do Bolton and McGuffie look out there? Like they belong or ?? Probably tough to tell with them on the practice squad but still... Effort there? Getting better every day?
  15. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming Nick Moore (ankle) and Kashawn Fraser (knee) will be out a few weeks, according to O'Shea. Jason Vega will start this week. #Bombers Guaranteed Romby draws back in.
  16. I'm under the impression that if Gill decides to play in the CFL, it will be with the bombers. Ticats will be forced to trade him eventually. Think it happens in the off season though. I also strongly get the feeling that Alex Hall is one of those "me me me" players. A few weeks back, O'shea said Hall is the same type of player as Joe Montford and Elfrid Payton, 2 guys he played with, said those guys wouldn't be willing to do whatever it took to help the team win, they were all just about rushing the QB. There is a reason Hall hasn't been brought back and I think that might be it. Can ***** and complain about it till the cows come home, But, i don't think i'd want a player who is unwilling to do what the DCoordinator tells him to do, Those types of players are Toxic.
  17. Lirim has missed 2 field goals all season, both misses have hit the goal post. We haven't had a kicker this accurate in years.. My lifetime even.
  18. Wasn't brian ramsay in street clothes the entire second half vs calgary? But regardless, Mydletton isn't very good, he's actually Turrible. Hinse and Swiston are arguably better.
  19. Nicolaj Ehlers signed his 3 year entry level contract. Just gonna say it, not sure what i expect from the JETS this season, think with good to average goaltending we can compete but... regardless, i think maybe 2 or 3 seasons down the line, we might be a pretty damn good team. Our youngsters have some pretty high end talent, Give Scheif Trouba Morrissey and Ehlers and maybe a guy like Petan some time and we could be a pretty darn good team, Throw in guys like Bogo, Little,Wheler and maybe a vet like Ladd and i think we will look pretty good in a couple seasons time.
  20. But what kind of beer? There's so many types with different flavours. This just out. Tim Horton's is coming out with a coffee flavoured beer. Seriously. Isn't baileys already pretty much that? although its a liquor and not a beer but still... Baileys is pretty damn good though. Not a big drinker, rarely to never drink, have my own personal reasons for not drinking any more, just seen it destroy several peoples lives completely, once you see that and or lose a few friends from drinking and driving, it changes your perspective on things ... but that Baileys stuff was great.
  21. IGF gets crazy loud but i recall being at Canad Inns several games where i couldn't hear my friend sitting right next to me also. Winnipeg has just loud sports fans, don't matter the sport, Jets, Bombers, Even Goldeyes get a loud crowd out at times, loud for baseball standards at least.
  22. Bombers already beat BC once and i think we match up well versus them, Beat BC the next time we play them and that's that really. Edmonton seems to be a bit of smoke and mirrors team themselves, they are undefeated vs the east like most of the west but... are only 2-2 vs the west. Could have beat SASK twice so i'm expecting a banjo bowl win, hamilton? meh? ottawa? meh.. calgary? guess we shall see, stranger things have happened, argument could be made that since we beat BC and BC beat calgary that we might match up ok with Calgary. I do think Calgary is the class of the league but they do seem to fall apart at times later in the season.
  23. Honestly, The Jets draw more people to the MTS centre than the argos do to the skydome, I don't blame braley one bit for being "cheap". You ain't making money on that team, why would you spend more?
  24. I actually agree with O'shea when he says he's not concerned about our Run D. If guys could just tackle, that would eliminate most/all of the problems, Lots of times our guys are in position to make tackles but don't wrap them up always... Going on and on about this 3rd and 1 yard and 2 inches stuff but.. if our D could have actually made a couple tackles on that last drive, we would have won. Watch it again, several times on that last drive, we are right there when the RB hits the line of scrimmage, heck even behind the line and just miss the tackle, Make the tackle and it's irrelevant. But, with all that and the other posts i've made in this thread said, It's pretty tough to look to one play in a game that has about 100 of them combined for both teams and say that play cost us the game,It's never just one play, it's always more than one. It's just too easy to look at one play and say that's the play that cost us... It wasn't though, it was the turnovers again, it was a whole lot of things that cost us the game, it was the second quarter, it was penalties at the worst times, it was missed tackles, it was missed passes, it was a whole lot of stuff, never one thing. It's kind of like if the game was say 32-30 and we are lining up for the FG to win and we miss that fg and blaming the kicker for the loss, well, question is, why were we in that position to kick the fg to win anyway? Because we didn't execute enough throughout the entire game, cuz we made more mistakes than the other team. It was 21-7 riders at one point, we played good for i'd say 2 quarters, maybe 2.5 quarters offensively... sask didn't do much better but... when it comes right down to it, they made less mistakes we did and executed when they had too and we did not. Could look at it this way too, Lirim was what? 3/3 or was it 2/2? i think 3/3 though... Well if 2 of those were TD's instead of FGS... we win. Can do that just about every game though, it's never just one thing. take away 6 add 14 oh snap 38-35 we win. Never just one play.
  25. An american db for an american DL.. sounds about right to me. Argos lack DB depth, We lack DL depth, win win. Wish suber nothing but the best, that guy is definitely all class, one of the more fan friendly bombers on twitter.
