  1. I don't know what to think about this game. I think Winnipeg pulls off the win, But i don't think it will be as lopsided as last weeks game, It could be though. Not sure what to expect from Ottawa, Really have no clue at all. They will probably be pretty competitive but if they get some injuries, they will be in trouble. Think Torontos Oline on paper is better then Ottawas so Winnipeg should be able to get pressure on Henry and if they do, i suspect it might be a long night for the Redblacks, Honestly, i remember going to a renegades game several several years ago, bombers absolutely smoked them. Put up 40 plus points on them, i could see that happening again actually but... in my heart i feel this game will be closer. Think Winnipeg wins but i'm thinking something like 34-20. Maybe a late touchdown by Ottawa to make the game seem closer then it actually was. Kind of like what Toronto did last week. I like what i saw from Winnipeg in week 1, if they play like that this week, they should win. Play like that most weeks and they should win. I think because the game is at IGF, bombers win. Just a feeling i have but i feel the bombers will be very good at home this season.
  2. niskanen is actually pretty good but not worth what they paid him, that orpik deal made me sick to my stomach. If anyone needs a few examples of why the jets dont get involved much in the frenzy, actually, it's pretty much the same teams every year involved in the frenzy and where do they end up normally? watching the playoffs just like the jets, but niskanens contract, orpiks contract and bollands contract and i'm gonna say jussi jokinens contract (he's not a spring chicken anymore) are prime examples. Last year, the leafs signed clarkson to a what 7 year 35 million deal, where did that get them? below the jets in the standings. These moves sometimes backfire on teams. I'd even go as far as to say that most these "frenzy" day deals don't work out at all in the end. Oh and Ryan Miller, i think it's a good move for the Canucks, i do but... Miller couldn't get the job done with a much better St Louis team, not sure why the Canucks gave him 6 million a year, this isn't 2010 Ryan Miller.
  3. Just started watching OITNB on netflix and i have to admit, i have become addicted. I love it, it's a great show, don't even care about the nudity, it's just a good show with a great cast, donna from that 70's show, jason biggs and another girl from american pie and taylor shilling is just fantastic. Love it, Honestly just started watching it 2 days ago and i'm already done season 1. I think it's just a great show. It's funny, its entertaining, it's witty, it has good stories, it's wonderful. Really liked OZ when it was on, OITNB i dont think is comparable to OZ, only common thing there is both are set in prisons but outside of that, they are very different. Enjoy(ed) them both.
  4. A- for the draft A for letting Wright, Halischuk, and Ellerby walk to FA D- for signing Thorburn (upgraded to a C+ when compared to other contracts signed today) B+ for upgrading our 3C for relatively cheap All in all not so bad.
  5. i gotta ask, 7 years 40.2 million for niskanen who had one good year with a stacked penguins team, 5 ++ for orpik, 5 for bolland, 2.9 for engeylund What was the point of the lockout again?
  6. Agreed. I don't think the Jets will ever be that active on the "frenzy" day, i mean some of these contracts handed out are crazy, i don't see how some would help the Jets actually. Bolland got 5 million a year for 5 years, that's not something that would help the Jets. Stastny got 7 million a year, again, with little and scheif, i'm not sure how that helps. jesus, 7 years 40.2 million for niskanen to washington. My god. This is the reason why the Jets aren't involved much today. Wheres there press conference. Some of these teams though like buffalo and florida need to spend big money to get to the cap floor. Some of these teams need to win now, do the Jets? not really, richards to chicago also.. puts chicago over the cap actually. It's a crazy day. We are indeed building around our younger guys.. You mentioned Kane, Scheif.. I'll throw in Trouba,Bogo, Good call with lowry and morissey. Ehlers is another guy, probably not this year but... down the line, we might look pretty good. I like what we are building here, i guess its just a bit frustrating to see other teams throwing out money at all these big name players and us doing not much but i understand the logic behind it. Like i said above, short term pain for long term gain. Oh and one more thing, nobody makes the playoffs on July 1st. We probably aren't a guaranteed playoff team, actually we aren't but with a couple upgrades or the kids stepping up, we could compete for a wild card spot. we weren't that far out of the wildcard spot last season.
  7. FA price vs. RFA price. Just wait what is it one more year? and Toews and Kane will be making way more than Statsny. Salaries go up all the time, that's why teams will try and lock people up to long term deals if they feel they're worth it. Overpay in the short term hoping it works out in the long term. more often then not though, these free agent frenzy deals don't work out.
  8. Weren't you the same guy complaining about Chevy not signing huge names? Lol not really, i was just hoping he would do something to make the team better, as if anyone actually thought the big names would come here, yeah it would have been nice but reality is, it wont happen, not until we start winning, i was more complaining about the thorburn deal. tough to get excited when you see what the other teams in our division did. Never did expect the jets to sign any "big names". Show me a post where i thought they would, i said the other teams in our division will. Didn't say we will. Oh and btw, maybe thorburns deal aint so bad, calgary just signed a similar player to a contract worth 2.9 million a year.
  9. The power rankings are always a bit of a joke. I'm not sure why they base it on last season when most teams have massive turnover every off-season. It really doesn't make sense to me and for that matter, i don't think they are very relevant.
  10. to prove my point on massive overpayments Paul Stastny now makes more than Toews, Kane, Kopitar, Hall, Seguin, Tavares, Benn, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Hossa, Couture, and Duchene. You'd be crazy if you thought stastny was worth more than any of those guys.
  11. I'm gonna say it, I'm glad chevy hasn't overpaid for any of these players.Outside of stastny and vanek (regardless what a couple people think), there were no real difference makers out there. Perrault is an upgrade on Olli, i think i can honestly say by doing nothing so far but adding perreault and subtracting guys like wright, halischuk, olli, even montoya, we are better today. I honestly think a lot of these teams will be regretting some of these signings down the line. Massive overpayments for several of these players today.
  12. that's cuz the guys on hfboards are going on and on about us needing a goalie lol. I agree, if we can get average goaltending, we might be in there for a wildcard spot. Pav has been below average here.
  13. nah, vrbata is a 3rd liner at best, buff won't be around much longer.
  14. rumour is jets going hard after steve ott, in on vrbata also. Also jets have received some calls regarding some of their players after some teams lost out in free agency. Look for some trades to happen here in a bit.
  15. oh god if thorburn is on our 3rd line, we are in trouble. Thorburn is a 4th liner at best, actually should be the 13th forward in all reality. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if buff is traded in a week or 2. Thorburn is not good, i hope to god he's not on our 3rd line, if he is, we are in trouble.
  16. the player also needs to want to come here.
  17. plus who knows what we see in a week or 2, maybe we make some trades, I'd suspect we might.
  18. Sad to see Redmond go, would rather have him in our bottom pairing that a guy like Clitsome. But as far as prospect depth, we are probably deepest at D. That sucks but.... like you said, lots of depth on the D. That's too bad, i liked Redmond but... i'm not surprised here at all. He will play more in Colorado.
  19. In my opinion perrault is an upgrade on olli jokinen, younger and put up the same amount of goals and assists actually in about 15 less games. I like this signing actually.
  20. Actually, after some thinking, the problem for the jets last year was 2 things, goaltending and the bottom 6. Perreault helps the bottom 6. If we could add a couple more wingers or a guy like winnik, we might not be as awful as i originally thought. Goaltending will be an issue though, that is what is holding us back. Hopefully Hutch takes Pavs job and wins a few more games for us. The jets do have a good top 2 lines, Kane Scheif Wheeler and Ladd little frolik are a pretty decent top 6. Perreault is the start of a nice 3rd line also. If we can get some just average NHL goaltending, we might not be as bad as i thought. I personally don't have much faith because of what the central has done today but... you never know, you dont make the playoffs on July 1st but man oh man, the central division is so stacked its crazy. I'm honestly not sure how we can compete with the other teams in our division, but we will probably be pretty decent in a few years. Perhaps short term pain for long term gain. Wouldn't hurt if we got a top 3 overall pick in the draft, would actually help lots. Honestly, didn't expect the Jets to do much today, seems to be some massive over payments going on (thats what the "frenzy" is all about) orpik got over paid, i'd argue niskanen will be also. Buffalo and Florida being active makes sense, they need to get to the cap floor... I just hope the Jets aren't done just yet, couple interesting names still out there that would look good in a jets jersey. Gotta be realistic i guess, the "stars" won't sign here, until we start winning consistently at least, even then, i'm not sure if they do, winnipeg is probably near the bottom of most players lists in terms of where they want to go. I might take a chance on del zotto and i'd look at winnik too. The rest though? not much left.
  21. Perreault is a nice signing, he is a good bottom 6 centre. With that being said though Stastny to our division in st louis, they get better Spezza traded to our division in Dallas, hemsky signs there, they get better Vanek to Minny, they get better. Chicago is Chicago and Colorado is a very good young team... Face the facts,we aren't doing much this season, lottery pick for sure. Winnipeg Jets: Fueled by Mediocrity. Over the top my ass. Iginla to colorado. awesome. Why the playoffs? because, we haven't been there, because our management keeps speaking of the playoffs? to get our young guys like scheif and trouba some experience? You don't think making the playoffs should be a goal? That's crazy talk if you think that, how do you win a stanley cup if you don't make the playoffs? we aint winning a cup but... it would be nice to actually have a competitive team for a change, not one competing for last in our stacked central division.
  22. you will see tomorrow, wild after vanek and iginla, hawks and blues after stastny, loser will trade for spezza, nasvhille gonna be active too, nashvilles goalie was hurt all last season pretty much, we are finishing last in our division, bet on it cuz its a safe bet. How are we getting better though? The teams in our division are already very good, the hawks blues an wild and now avs are legit playoff contenders, nashville? maybe not but... we definitely aren't. Teams aren't signing guys right now but they will tomorrow. Count on it. Maybe we will sign a matt mouslon but i'd suspect not, look for guys none of us have heard of. Thats who the jets will be after. we are in the toughest if not second toughest division in the league, i dont see how we can compete with chicago st louis minnesota and colorado. I just don't see it. If you do, please enlighten me, cuz i just don't see how its possible when they are already better than us and we are doing nothing to get better.
  23. i dont care about the money, the cap is going up, the money is actually somewhat irrelevant, its the 3 year term that sucks. Do you guys see what the teams in our division are doing? We are years away from competing for a playoff spot, the best thing to do is tank for mcdavid or eichel cuz we got no chance in hell.... trade ladd buff enstrom wheeler little even cuz you know what... we aint competing any time soon. Calling it now, we get a top 5 pick in the 2015 draft. Every other team is getting better in our division, we are staying the same. I don't see how anyone can think that we actually have a chance at competing, competing for last overall? sure, for the playoffs? not a chance. I liked the pardy signing, he's a solid depth move, i liked the fact they didn't qualify a couple of guys who didn't do much last season, i don't like the thorburn signing, i was hoping we would actually move on and try to get better, we aren't tho, we are content on staying the exact same, the same team that was brought here is the same team we have now minus trouba scheif and frolik really. How have we gotten better? That's what i'm saying, how have we actually gotten better? 3 players? and what? tangradi? wow huge pickup, peluso? huuge pickup, plan the parade we have brought in pardy tangradi frolik and peluso. I don't see how we get better when we stay the same. Especially when the other teams in our division are going after "stars" left right and centre.
  24. lol are you serious with the cheap rate? you could sign a guy for league minimum to do nothing also. This is an awful deal. 1.2 million for what? no need to watch the free agent frenzy tomorrow cuz we are DOING NOTHING AGAIN. Disagreeing is one thing. Irrational nonsense is quite another. http://www.capgeek.com/comparables/?player_id=351 <-- Irrational nonsense? dude, you love every player on the team, i want them to get better, how do you get better if you stay the same? You are the one being irrational. Sheep there with the Jets. This is a bad move. Turrible. awful. Not a step in the right direction.
