  1. Reading some of the players comments on twitter, i think they have gotten off the revenue sharing idea, jon cornish said so at least, so did paul mccallum, it is odd to me that most the players going on about this on twitter are the veteran players and guys who probably are getting paid a decent chunk of change as is. Their is a deal to be made here, i don't like the cfl going to the media but i also dont like players using social media as a way to interact with the fans about this. This should all be done behind closed doors in my opinion. But their does seem to a deal to be made somewhere here, whether thats by raising the cap a bit more to 5 million this season and then going up in 100,000 $ per year increments until the deal is done, essentially making the final cap number about 5.7 5.8 million, i don't know but... there does seem to be some progress here regardless of what the players and certain members of the media are saying. Madani going on about how the players have already started asking their agents for loans is probably a sign that the players arent as united as we are lead to believe, i hate their hashtag too, #wearetheleague. Reality tho is, they are not the league, they come and go, the fans are the league and like tburgess and tup said, i think for the average fan, its pretty hard to be on the side of a player who just got offered a 10 percent raise plus a 3000 dollar bonus. I know i'd take that if offered to me right now. Who wouldn't. Also agree with bob irving tho who said, that 4.8 is a good starting point but the league needs to throw the players a bone a bit and actually increase the cap by more than 1 percent per year. increase the cap to 4.8 maybe 5.0 million this season and add 100,000 every year of the deal and i think that's fair for both sides.
  2. the only logical reason i can think of why he hasn't been. and regardless of what you me and everybody else thinks or says on this board, he has CFL experience and the other guys do not. That's the only reason i can think of why he hasn't been released. I don't necessarily agree with it but.... that has to be the reason or... he is indeed dating bellefeuille.
  3. i stand by my original post in this thread, not concerned at the moment.. however with every passing day, slight concern does start to creep in. we'd be naive to think that the season might not be played, but we'd be naive to think it definitely will be also. You never know what happens here, for all we know, we wake up tomorrow and theres a topic that says players and owners agree to new deal.
  4. in chevys interview he did say he expects pavelec to be better tho, its not like he said 100 percent for sure he is our starting goalie next season. The question that was asked was rather silly and to expect chevy to say anything different than what he said was silly too. what i took from that interview is as of now (or that time) pav is our goalie next season but we all know things can and usually do change. I'm not convinced pavelec is back next season, i'm not convinced he is gone either though. I don't think i'm on the side that thinks with better goal tending we are a playoff team, we have a long ways to go yet. Pavelec takes a lot of heat it seems but he isn't the only issue on this team and i think thats all chevy was saying. wasn't gonna throw pav under the bus... and i actually agree with him that he didn't.. what if he came out and said yeah no he sucks, we are gonna trade him or buy him out.. people would be going on about how stupid chevy was for saying that, when you ask a gm questions like that you are setting him up for criticism regardless of what he says.
  5. how many players even played in that age group tho? a handful at best probably. off the top of my head.. howe,chellios,teemu... they would all be considered excellent, quite honestly, anyone playing pro hockey at that age should be considered an excellent player.
  6. I don't see any cheap shot taken at the CFL by sheets, if anything the guy he was arguing with was taking a cheap shot at the CFL. But oh well, this isn't that big of a deal in my opinion, sheets has done a lot of stupid things, the weed charge (not even that stupid really) but taking the pic with the gun is a lot worse than this thats for sure.
  7. oh not saying i dont agree, those are just the 2 names to me that stick out as possibly being let go sooner rather than later. I do think kelly makes it to camp but... like i said, if they sign more guys (im sure they will) they will have to release a couple and those 2 are just 2 guys i think could be let go sooner.
  8. Just for the record, my posts above were very tongue in cheek, sarcastica for sure.
  9. I checked Foley's twitter. All he's talking about is going to do some batting practice at a facility somewhere. hashtag strike. man read between the lines there, you dont even have too.
  10. heard they want 40-50 % revenue sharing plus 7 million cap to start.. like TUP said, that's insanity really and if thats what they players want... there will be no season this year, no season probably means no more CFL ever.
  11. Well, guess no CFL football this year. slight over exageration, its one thing to miss rookie and training camp but once they start missing those weekly cheques, the players will cave.
  12. This may destroy the momentum the league had but the fans will be back. Unlike other leagues, fans can sympathize with both sides, especially the players. i don't know about that, i think why fans relate so well to the CFL is because these guys arent making tons and tons and tons of money. But to your point, let's use toronto as an example, how could fans come back if they werent really there to being with?
  13. Dont have to worry about places like calgary winnipeg sask and even edmonton but ontario? quebec? i dunno man.
  14. ricky foley at it on twitter.. these guys are trying to bury the league. If players strike, will fans come back? this isn't a lock out, this will be a strike. I'm not convinced the fans come back in all places. And if the players strike, can the cfl not just get replacement players? i mean, really.. get rid of the canadian ratio and there you go, i think we still see CFL football this year tho. if not, this may be the end.
  15. yeah, i was thinking meet in the middle so thats why i said 5 5.5 ish.
  16. I like Mario lots but Gretzky is the best player in the history of the game by far. Not only could he score but he also would assist on lots of plays. Gretzky was a very good hockey player, overall... better defensively than mario too. And IMO, Gretzky single handily made hockey relevant in california and regardless of what i think about there being too many teams in california, the reason for that is quite simply put... wayne gretzky.
  17. when would this new salary cap kick in tho? i mean, realistically it couldn't kick in until next season, how do you even make that work? 7 million? these guys are on crack if they think they will get that. That is just unreasonable. Teams are losing money, a cap of 5 5.5 million might be more feasible, 7 is completely ridiculous actually.
  18. looking at the bluebombers.com roster, looks like both griggs and paliwoda are no longer on there so i'd suspect paliwoda. There are a few other guys there too that make me wonder why they are still on the roster aaron kelly, greg peach being 2 that stick out.
  19. Really like this signing, was and still am a fan of the detroit lions, actually like all detroit based teams (lions tigers, bears i mean wings) Watched a few lions games when Smith played for them and he was in beast mode most the time. Seems to be a runner who is suited for the CFL, more north south runner here, power type runner, I hope his injury problems are behind him cuz if they are, look out. We may have found something here. If not, well, so be it and there is no harm in bringing him in.
  20. I've generally found in sports when gm's or coaches say this is our guy that it's just a ploy to not lower his value (what value pav does have and he does have some i suppose, very little tho). I dont think chevy coming out and saying pav is the guy moving forward means anything, it's not like he was going to come out and say no we are buying him out or gonna trade him and bring someone else in. You just never hear gm's say that EVER.
  21. also blues resign elliot and say that miller is done is st louis, look for miller to end up in california somewhere. His wife is an actress and is based out of california, could see him signing with the ducks or sharks.
  22. Is Foo Co any different or better than Matt Sewell or Other Canadian oline who were given a shot down south, stuck around a bit and then a year or so later ended up in the CFL? is he any better? There are other guys but the names escape me.
  23. Price done for the series apparently, probably wouldn't have mattered anyway but
  24. Brisson has declined. He will not be the Pens next GM.
  25. not a big wine fan at all, not even that big of a fan of alcohol in general but... moscatto is a really good wine for sure.
