I understand why our fans want these guys, I really do, but to continually drag these names into the conversation, when there is very, very little chance of an interest in coming to Winnipeg, is useless. But of course the same names keep being brought up, whether they make sense or not. It's not even about signing them (i think we all understand these guys wouldn't come here) but it's about having interest in them, I mean, why not make an offer even? I get it, they won't come but to not even make an offer? to not show any interest at all? why not?

I tend to agree but I'm going to ask anyways, What the hell type of scheme are we running when we have no interest in Laurent or Hickman? Don't you normally want the best players who are available and you make it work? If we aren't signing guys based on schemes we are setting ourself up for failure. Ratio breaking tackle in Laurent, pass cuz he doesn't fit the scheme? Hickman, i'm not sure what you'd get with him, he's been gone a while but to pass on him just because of scheme? Seems ridiculous. How many guys are we going to not be interested in due to scheme? Much as we would have liked to have Laurent here and will undoubtedly never hear the end of it from some guys, Laurent was a free agent and not terribly likely to come here regardless of scheme. In my opinion, Winnipeg would have been last on his list of teams to play for. As for the DL, they will be expected to attack from multiple angles, overload sides, drop into coverage on occasion and disguise blitzes. As I understand our defense that is. To do any of this they will have to be fast and dynamic. I don't know how well Peach is suited to this. Vega and Turner would seem ideal. Thomas is Canadian, but if he can also be relatively fast with this feet, that's a big step. If we were living in 2011 and looking for someone to replace Doug Brown in a 4-3 Greg Marshall defence, Laurent would be the best choice I could think of. Sticking him in this defence would likely be a disaster. He would not be able to do anything required of him. Oh no, i agree with you, I knew Laurent wouldn't come here, I'm just saying, what type of scheme are we running when we don't have interest in ratio breakers and former game breaking defensive ends? It seems ridiculous to me that we are passing on guys (regardless if they would sign here or not) based on scheme. I understand they probably wouldn't come here but... to have no interest in them because of our scheme? It doesn't really make sense.

NameYear Team No. Yards Avg Long TD KELLY, A 2011 HAM 27 383 14.2 34 2 KELLY, A 2012 HAM 11 107 9.7 30 1 KELLY, A 2013 WPG 22 321 14.6 45 0 Career Total 60 811 13.5 45 3 those numbers don't seem to indicate to me that he makes a lot of catches or scores a lot of TDs.. Really is a receiver who has a career best year of under 400 yards and 2 TDs the best we can do? . as a 4th or 5th option? why not?

what's the over/under on rob black doing most of the redblacks games this season? -
Edmonton has non import depth at receiver, not much elsewhere though. we have non import depth at receiver too, heck we could start 3 Canadians at receiver if we really wanted too and have Carter or Renaud dress as a backup. Pretty even really there, we have better non import db depth and i'd argue with the esks losing laurent that is equivalent to us losing Henoc so all in all, without the blue bashing goggles on, i'd actually say our non import depth might be a bit better than Edmonton and Ottawa for that matter. http://www.esks.com/roster/index/team/3/sort/last I don't see how that non import talent is better than ours. I just don't see it.

seems winnipeg fans tend to undervalue the players we have and over value the players we don't have. Kane is a 22 23 year old who scored 30 goals a couple years ago, prorated the lockout year would have had 30 or so and last year was injured and if not still would have had 30 more than likely. 30 goal scorers dont grow on trees. You don't give those guys up for anything less than an overpayment, if a team wants kane that bad, then they will have to offer what the jets want. If they don't, Kane stays a Jet. We don't need to trade him. He's under contract for 5 years at a very good cap hit.

I think BC has made an upgrade at QB. For sure, but Glenn is a backup QB. what if he never sees the field? sure he's an upgrade although in my opinion, i thought demarco was pretty darn good last season when lulay got hurt, but.. not exactly an upgrade that makes a difference, he might make a difference if lulay is hurt but he might not see the field at all. -

You have obviously never had a concussion then. If you have, you wouldn't be making light of his situation. Concusions are serious business, they are a significant brain injury, It's not a good thing to have happen to you, for your sake, from a guy who has had 2 from playing hockey and 1 from falling off my 4 wheeler 3 years ago, I hope you never get one. I don't think you actually understand how bad they are. To this day, the smallest of headache, it bothers me badly. Light effects me pretty badly sometimes, i will wear sunglasses at times even inside because even flourescent lights bother me at times. It's not funny and I don't think you should say what you did in your last line cuz it's obvious you don't really understand what concussions actually do to you. Get one and you get the 2nd one a lot easier, get 2 and the 3rd one happens easier and so on. It's not fun. It does mess with you. Have you ever had one? I know the answer, it's no because if you did have one, your last line wouldn't be there because you would actually understand how serious they are. -
Klingberg is a free agent is he not? I don't ever see him sticking with the main roster, I'd suspect if he is indeed a free agent, they let him walk.

O'shea spoke highly of stephan on the coaches show,, wouldn't be so quick to write him off even though i would sort of agree with you in thinking he should be on the bubble. Looking at the linebacking depth in terms of Non Imports Cornell, Stephan,Briggs,Aisho. 2 are rookies, of those 2 rookies, 1 is hurt.. Not much depth there. Stephan probably sticks around.
-
Someone who has more time and patience then i do should post who the starters and backups of other teams are.. or who are projected to be starters and backups. Little comparisons never hurt, i know our non import depth (not calling it national) is weak but compared to other teams, how bad is it, i mean i know the ticats have loaded up on non imports and calgary is solid, what about others though? Edmonton for example, BC, Ottawa, Montreal with them losing emery even.

Got a bunch of free tix through work last season, never in the same place, honestly, have to admit, the games i went too, sure most were later in the year but... everywhere we sat, thought it was a good time. Not a bad seat in the house as far as i'm concerned. I wasn't a huge fan of section S at the old stadium, i mean it was cool but, at the same time i liked watching the games too, don't get me wrong, it was fun to sit there but at times, found it a little too distracting. Seemed lots of people cared more about getting loaded then watching the game, that's fine, it's cool but... really haven't found that section yet in the new one. Odd to me that they would remove the student section at a stadium that is, well, its at a university where Yup students attend. I guess the issue i had with section S wasn't so much the younger people, that was cool, i was a younger person too, still am but... it did kind of strike me as odd when i saw some 40 and 50 year olds sitting there. I think that's what may have killed section s off, it was designed to be a student section right but... seems to me, lots of people there weren't students and well past the age of being a student. That hogan guy comes to mind. Dude was like 60.

Just my opinion but i feel as though import kickers are a dime a dozen, similar to running backs really. If you really truly wanted an import kicker to do all 3 jobs, I don't think it would be too hard to find a guy down south. (sorry not calling them nats and internationals)

Colts released Justin Hickman and rumours are he may be on his way back to Hamilton, If that is the case, Hamilton should finish first in the east by a long shot, heck even without hickman, that ticat team is stacked. East: Ticats Argos Als Redblacks -
That's very much a lawless question, basically he asks statements and then asks if they agree or disagree with it, there really is no question that he is asking, he is making a general statement lol.
-
While i'm not a huge fan of ford, he is a serviceable running back, can get the job done, yeah i realize it means very little but he was an all star last season so it's not like we are gonna have to go with dorzon or something, we are gonna have to go with a guy who is proven to be decent, not great but decent. for a couple weeks, that should be fine.
-
Kelly is a proven CFL receiver, he's not great but he's not as bad as some make him out to be, he's serviceable, he catches the ball which is more than some of our rookies can say. Fact is, kelly doesn't need to put up big numbers, he won't be the number 1 or even 2nd or 3rd option, heck it's likely he might even be the 5th option on plays. Anyways though, with o'shea letting wild lead the post practice yoga, it tells me they are high on wild and like what he brings, he's a leader and he will definitely be on the team.

seems to be a lot of love for BC, who has done nothing this off season except trade for a backup qb. They lost a ton of guys.. I'm not sure i agree with BC finishing with a winning record. -
Honestly tho, who gives a crap what the media thinks, the reality is the media in winnipeg like to think they actually run the teams. That's the problem here, too many media guys like to think they make the decisions, lawless is one of those guys. The jack of all trades master of none complex. Thinks they know everything about everything but in reality know very little.

Are Hall and Brohm not pretty much the same age with similar experiences in other leagues except that Hall has started more games in the CFL? That's why we're having these discussions because we have 2 backups at a similar point in their careers only one is slightly more experienced than the other. He may not be good enough to start, but I haven't seen any of the qbs behind Willy stand out more than Hall has yet. Marve looks promising but again the guy has only had a couple series haven't seen nearly enough of him in real situations to make any kind of statement on him. How has hall stood out exactly?

I feel 6-12 or 7-11 is realistic for the bombers and since i feel that's the case SASK CAL BC WPG EDM I almost put the bombers ahead of the lions too, I just don't think BC will be as good as some expect them to be. They lost a ton of talent this off season, tons.
