  1. This could be the end for a lot of guys actually. Every year, every darn year, several new players come in to every team... wally buono has said something about turning over half your roster most off seasons. The players are thinking way to long term when most of them wont even be around in 3 years. I dont get their mentality here. Do you think the players in 3 years are gonna care about these guys now? No, they are gonna take their jobs.
  2. It does seem some people to have a preconceived hate on for a certain guy so some of their reports are going to be a bit biased i guess you can say but... they are there, you are not, i am not... gotta take there word for it, none of the people on here are experts, some pretend to be, but none really are.. yourself included brandon. For you to say that marve isn't fighting for the #2 spot is bullcrap... he certainly is. We all know willy is the starter but that backup spot is wide open. Why you pretending that hall actually proved anything last year? or that brohm is any better? because why? because you say so? Bet your butt that if marve shows better than hall and brohm then he is indeed the backup. This idea that he isn't fighting for the backup spot is a load of crap... they are all fighting for the backup spot, willy is the starter. That's all we know, the backup spot is certainly wide open for the taking.
  3. hmm, just a question here about the wrestling stuff, were the wrestlers in character at the time? cuz, if they were.. then them getting upset is actually just part of the act. Especially if they were portraying heels.
  4. apparently its only a 4 year tv deal? why did i think it was 8.
  5. clippers gonna be sold for close to 2 billion... sterling got PAID.
  6. Think it's time this one gets locked up eh? Turned totally into a political debate, i get that politics played a role in this whole topic but it has seemingly become all about politics now. And in no way related to the original topic, just some food for thought, don't care if it is locked or not, just think well, that last post there is definitely pushing a slippery slope here. I mean, i may not be a fan of these guys either but theres got to be a line here somewhere.
  7. man oh man, the canadian players at it on twitter too, these guys are delushional little morons, if not for the ratio, most wouldn't be in the league. who the heck is tristan black and why does he think he matters? Bo Levi Mitchell just said the league wants a 5 year deal, but thinks in 3 years the tsn deal will be renegotiated, where are they getting this info from? how are they gonna renegoiate a tv deal in 3 years when the deal is for 8 isn't it? someone be spewing a whole lot of bs to these guys it seems.
  8. saw the tweet too, suspect it means, at least that is what i interpreted as, is the league feels the strike vote is 50/50 amongst players. 50 percent want too strike, 50 percent do not. durant tho? as in darian? i'd suspect the qb's are in the "not wanting to strike" camp. See, this is what happens in a league where careers arent long, these guys no they only have so much time... it boggles my mind that they are even thinking about striking when in reality, that could be the end of many of their careers.
  9. i really don't understand why the PA refuses to let the players vote on the latest proposal. Let them vote, if they are as united as they believe they are, there should be no issues there.
  10. Lots of over reaction here it seems though, i mean just cuz they broke off talks doesnt mean the season will be cancelled. Let's all back away from the ledge a bit here. There is still time and as of right now, the players will be reporting to camp.. to me that says one of 2 things.. 1. the votes they have received, well probably a lot more no's than the PA expected or 2. they are closer than they are leading us to believe.
  11. These threads shouldn't even exist cuz nobody is gonna change anybodies mind about anything on a message board. The fact that this has 4 pages now is amazing when basically its the same people repeating the same stuff over and over again. Oh and btw, just cuz a guy doesnt like gay people, it doesn't mean he's wrong.. it just means his opinion is different. I'm not a fan of people who try to tell me what i think is wrong.. so i can understand where brandon is coming from a bit here.. TUP: you seem to have it in your heard that anyone who disagrees with you is wrong, that is incorrect, all it means is they disagree with you and here in north america, that is allowed. we are all allowed to have different opinions on all these matters. I dont care if someone doesn't like gay people, who cares really. I dont even care if someone doesn't think redskin is a racist name even though the dictionary definition mentions that it is indeed racist, Nobody is changing anybodies opinions. Whats that saying that 17to85 uses? opinions are like assholes? You bet they are.
  12. quite a bit of those idiots on twitter recently it seems, i've yet to come across one that actually knows what they are talking about though. Between this stuff and guys on twitter saying i speak for all fans when i say we are 100 percent behind the players. It makes you wonder if these guys are actually paying attention.
  13. I think optics plays a big role here, lets think about the non hardcore fans who dont post on message boards or dont go on twitter and just basically go by what the papers tell them, if they even care to read those articles. A lockout means, the owners are the bad guys cuz they are locking the players out.. However a strike means the players are the bad guys and the fans will then tend to probably sway their opions (the non hardcore fan, the casual fan, the non message board posting fan, the majority of fans really) towards the side of the owners. If the owners lock them out, the fans opinion probably sways towards the players a bit more.. darn greedy owners locking out the players... but if the players strike... darn greedy players. Nobody wants to lockout the players and i highly doubt the players even want to strike, using striking as a potential threat, well that's not good either is it? I wonder how the players would feel about a strike, screw flory hage and the rest, they arent active players are they? nope they are retired, they really lose nothing. It's the guys who actually arent retired who will lose the most. What will scott flory lose?
  14. smh at that last response for sure. Good god man.
  15. These players need to keep their mouths shut right now... receivers are a dime a dozen, nick moore needs to understand he is very very replaceable. Who the heck was nick moore 3 years ago?
  16. I'm not a big Nick Moore fan and stuff like this is why. He is one of those guys that I'll cheer for on the field but I don't have much use for off of it. It's like he's been diagnosed with Jovon Johnson Syndrome. Couldn't have said it any better. Seems like another keyboard warrior. so not exactly the high character type of player that the team seems to want or need? That can't be good.
  17. ha, they are offering vets 5000$ if they are on the week 1 roster... Let the players vote, what is the PA worried about? they might accept it?
  18. madani needs to be way more balanced in his reporting, he has taken the side of the players and it's obvious.
  19. anyone see the don landry tweet on the side? what the heck is the PRC? "cflpa: we eagerly await the response of the PRC, we hope a deal can be reached today. " Player Relations Commite? Players ******** Cousins? what the heck is PRC. CFL offer now coming out, 5 million cap this year, 50 k increases each year to 5.25 million, raise of the minimum salary to 55 k. That don't seem to bad, not just raise the cap this year to 5.25 million and then go from there with the 50k increases per year and you should have a deal. Then throw the players a bone and offer them 5k signing bonus's on day 1 of the regular season.
  20. 5.5 million cap i think gets it done, said that all along too. maybe with 100,000 dollar increments each year of the deal... maybe, im not sold on a 100,000 increase each year though. Cuz at the end the cap would be over 6 and i dont think that will work.
  21. THE pa moving on from revenue sharing is a good sign, maybe not all is lost, very reminiscent here of the last few days of the NHL talks when they came to a deal, bunch of media people going on about how there is no deal and doesn't seem close but then little bits of info like the players in this case backing away from revenue sharing is coming out and it makes you wonder if they are indeed closer than what the media is leading us to believe. Heck, i think even a couple hours b4 the nhl and the pa reached a deal the media guys were like the season will be cancelled. So really... what do they know? lol More than any of us but... probably not as much as they think. TSN ran a story on its website saying talks arent going well and they aren't close, i read it and i guess they based that on jim hopson giving a thumb up and a thumb down. Cuz there were no real facts to support that it wasn't going well.
  22. That one tweet about coaches being paid and the players aren't just shows you how stupid the PA actually is. Coaches aren't part of the CFLPA.
  23. The worst part is the fans seem to want a season to happen more than the people who actually are in charge. Good GOD, both these groups are idiots and morons. Be funny though if the strike vote didn't pass
  24. Don't try to drive a wedge, that's ridiculous. Meet somewhere in the middle and be done with it. A strike hurts the league big time. This won't end well if the CFL tries to bully the PA and vice versa. Just suck it up, get a deal done, 15k per each vet? do it, who cares, you will make 15 k back in 5 minutes of ticket sales really, well no but you get the point.. It wont take long to make that money back. CFL seems to being a little stubborn and pig headed here from the sounds of it, however, you need to remember that it does appear madani is very very PRO PA for some reason so gotta take what he tweets with a bit of a grain of salt.
