Don’t be an idiot. Nothing wrong with what I said.
-
I apologize for arguing with integrity. Also, see my follow-up post: I’m not completely clueless on baseball and the NFL. I just don’t care to watch them, generally speaking.
-
The officiating has been good in the last two Bombers games. A couple of close calls in either game could have gone either way but overall, it was fair.
-
That’s fair. That being said, what is there to complain about regarding the officiating in this particular game? A couple of close calls that literally could have gone either way? That’s just silly.
-
When there’s nothing left to say but to double down on your disingenuousness…
-
Lmao now you’re lying to yourself. You know who was trashing the officiating two weeks ago after the Bombers win against Hamilton? Tiger-Cats fans of course. It’s always the fans of the losing team trashing the refs, on every game day in every sport and it’s ridiculous. There is zero objectivity coming from you or most people on this board seemingly.
-
Well you’re just being disingenuous at this point. Of course I realize that the refs can have an impact. What we hope for is that the refs don’t go out of their way to make calls that affect the outcome of a game, which they did a decent job of against the Argos.
-
The refs were NOT bad though. People just think this way because one crucial call didn’t go our way. Realistically it could have gone either way. If they deemed it a first down in real time, it would not have been overturned by the command center either. That’s the way it goes.
-
The world would be a much better place if we all tried to be a little more objective. It is not a dumb take. If the Bombers played even slightly better, they would have won. End of story. The refs had nothing to do with the outcome, and not a single one of us has the evidence to show that any of the calls made should have been overturned.
-
Oh come on, there is nothing that is « very clear » about either of these plays. Even Collaros would probably tell you that was a clean tackle. Clearly the Bombers thought so too since it wasn’t challenged. Get over it guys. The Bombers sucked ass. That’s the only reason they lost.

I’m not saying there is no grey zone in baseball, but generally speaking the umpire’s job is pretty straightforward. You have one at each base and they’re only looking at a couple of things. Probably the easiest sport to officiate. Something tells me you’re letting bias affect your view of the officiating in Bombers games versus the NFL, but I guess I’ll have to take your word for it. Is the NFL even enforcing the new hip-drop tackle rule? In the NBA the main issue is that it’s a very difficult sport to officiate. There is a natural tendency for referees to engage in game management across most sports. Basketball, hockey and football are no exception. Except it is random because in this particular game, there was no real display of ineptitude. People complain about refs WAY too much, in every sport. Doesn’t matter if it’s because of game management or something else. It gets tiring.

I don’t watch the NFL and I still see a ridiculous amount of complaining about their refs, so I have a hard believing that they are THAT much better than CFL refs. I don’t watch baseball either but I think the umpire’s job is pretty straightforward. There is not as much grey area in baseball as there is in football, hockey or basketball (IMO probably the hardest sport to officiate). In each of these sports you see an insane amount of complaining about the refs. At times it is warranted, but last weekend against the Argos? Not one bit. The Bombers shot themselves in the foot over and over again and the refs had nothing to do with it. I can agree that some of the rule changes in the CFL over the years have been unnecessary, and haven’t done any favours for the officials, but the constant complaining about officiating gets tiring. OK but that seems random in the context of this thread or this game.
-
I swear every sport has the « worst refs ». Just depends which of our favourite sports teams has lost most recently. I find it so ridiculous how officiating becomes the focal point of just about every loss in every sport. The human species is way too biased to properly judge the officiating on most nights.
-
Are people complaining about the reffing again? Really? After that dreadful performance by the Bombers? Give that argument a rest.
-
Definitely looked like Lucky sold the call but the Cats already wasted their challenge on a play that had no business being challenged.
-
The refs have been good tonight.
-
The problem seems to be that he’s not getting open. You can tell Collaros wants to throw his way and is trying to force it to him, but he’s just not getting open, and as a result he’s having to try to make impossible catches. With Lawler injured it was Demski that they tried to force the ball to constantly.

Demski needs to be released. Not only does he fumble more than anyone in history, but the Bombers are also obsessed with getting him the ball whether he’s open or not. It’s just terrible. -

Another forced pass to Demski lmao -
Yet another game with more interceptions than touchdowns for Collaros. We can criticize the offensive line all we want but his turnovers are completely inexcusable. The sad truth is that he is continuing his downward trend that essentially started in the 2022 playoffs. Time to start thinking about moving on from him.

GDT Can the Bombers D shutdown the Als?

What’s up with the ultra conservative play calling tonight? They’re not even giving themselves a chance. -
Zach Collaros’s decline was predictable and is sure to continue, but I still think he’s a good QB, and certainly a more proven commodity than Brown. He has sucked in the big games the last couple of years though, which is very frustrating.
-
Call it what you want … you need to move on from Collaros
Yourface replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It didn’t look like Lawler and Collaros were on the same page on that play. A throw further to the corner of the end zone would have been a TD 100%. The play looked especially bad since Demski was so wide open for an easy pitch-and-catch on the same side of the field. -
What’s with all the hate for Sheahan lol? Is it his weird technique that throws people off? His average distance of 47.2 was not far off the 47. 9 that led the league among full-time punters and I am willing to bet his net yardage ranks even higher (anyone know where I can find that stat?). edit: found some in-depth punting stats. Looks like Sheahan ranks about the same in that category: https://d3ham790trbkqy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/2023_CFL_League_Stats_Report_Week_21.pdf I think the biggest issue on special teams this year was Castillo’s distance on kickoffs. I would personally like to see what Dru Brown can do as the starter in this offence. Not sure I trust Collaros anymore. Overall I think the roster is still strong, but I wouldn’t mind seeing guys like Thomas and Houston let go.
