West will be tight...maybe tighter than last year. Calgary, Edmonton, and us could all have less wins as a result. Doesn't mean we are worse, just more competition.

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?
blueingreenland replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Not going to answer this question at this point. Too early. Let's all settle down a bit. -
I like hearing this. I think our defense will be better. I feel though, that for us to compete for 1st in the west (which I think we can do) our defense doesn't need to be the best in the league...it just needs to be better, probably top 3. Our offense is a top 3 offense. Our special teams is up there. Just got to get our defense there.
-
Agree with keeping JSK and Wilson. However, if they can keep Wild in any way, shape, or form, they will. The guy is good on special teams, has played all LB positions, and according to Darrin Bauming is a great leader in the locker room. (It sounds like he is future coach material).

2017 B.C. offense in a nutshell
-
It should be Leggett's to lose. He's been arguably our best defensive player the last 2 years.
-
Ideally, Nichols shouldn't even see the field, that's what the 2nd game is for, giving your vets time. But yeah, he'll likely play 1st quarter.
-
I have heard Marcus Sayles name quite a bit. Sounds like he has been good competition for the DBs. But other than him??
-
Okay. Insert anyone's name (DB's) not named Randle. My point is the same. Where are these DBs we brought in to compete for spots on a defense that gave up a lot of yards last year?
-
Fogg seems to be (still) taking 1st team reps as a db. I like the guy and at times he has been great as a punt returner but...doesn't it concern any of you that he is still in that spot? I mean, we brought in a bunch of DBs to compete. How come none of them have supplanted some of our 2017 guys yet? Am I making too much of this at this point? Thoughts??

And another thing...bring Chris Shultz back on...and get rid of Burris. The other panel members are fine. And Kate will give Milt competition in the "pretty face" department...which is okay by me.
-
Ah... no...its no longer the off-season. That ended with the start of rookie camp. Football's back!!!!!!
-
With Bighill here, and if our QB can stay healthy I can't see why we couldn't battle it out for 1st place this year....
-
Oh and I love Dunigans response too, "He just hit himself in the you-know-where". Just priceless! Kind of grateful if this is the case. A veteran QB at this point would have no upside...a rookie might.
-
They probably didn't have the $ to pay him on injury reserve now that they spent 70 grand on...oh, nevermind...😋.
-
True. But VERY few. Ricky Ray, Kent Austin, Doug Flutie, and Tom Clements come to mind.
-
Wow. You ain't kidding. That isn't much. Kind of hard to find someone with less than 10 days till camp.
-
I hope the Bombers don't panic and sign some CFL QB re-tread. (Although I don't think there's any out there at this point).

Roy Finch Arrested for Assaulting Police
blueingreenland replied to MC's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I take it as a positive sign that he is facing this situation and beginning to take responsibility for it. He may end up doing time and the road ahead may be a difficult one...but I still hope the best for him. -
Okay. Let's get rid of everyone - Walters, O'Shea, Miller. The only question is...do we bring in Mike Kelly or Jeff Reinbold?

Around The League: 2018 Offseason

Too bad for James Tuck. I feel bad for him. This might lead the CFLPA to push for changes...such as no vets allowed in mini-camps. Or at least no non-QB vets. -
That is stating the obvious. Having said that, my guess is that he retires after this year. I can't see a situation where one of our big 3 american receivers are cut; however they should be pushed.

Great to hear on-field news finally! Thanks, guys.

I respect your enthusiasm. However, myself having grown up as a Maple Leafs fan, being from Winnipeg originally and thus following the Bombers and Jets I have endured many, many terrible years of bad teams. Even during the good years I remain cautious about my teams chances.. maybe because the disappointment is easier to take after an early playoff exit. Having said that 2018 so far looks oh so good!!!
