  1. System only lets me give this one "like". All Barkley turribles get infinite likes. Will now spend the rest of my day mumbling turrible turrible turrible
  2. I was just surprised either of you gave a crap. This may take a while...
  3. Allow me to help you out - STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRIKE ONE! * pardon me while I go see who has the bye this week.....Calgary * Sure, Anthony Allen seems smrt. And I am nothing if not smrt.
  4. Swiston for their 1rst round pick in 2015!!
  5. Insert sound of sideshow bob stepping on a rake.. Do you know there are some top 10 Simpsons episodes lists that don't include "Cape Feare"? That is a crime. Simply a crime. Oh ya, Romby. He goes on the 2 man reserve or 1 game IR. Depth is good. The Bombers are acting like they are playing to win this year. What's up with that?
  6. Pretty sure Westwood is still calling all 9 teams for work on a weekly basis - part of his Monday morning routine. If Ottawa is smart they will have blocked his number by now. I so badly want to pile on here, but they still haven't played a game yet to prove how awful they are. 18-0 is still in reach for them.
  7. Let the rebuild begin! I can understand this as part of a salary dump/draft pick accumulation move, but why on earth would they have to throw in a 7th round pick on top of that?
  8. While we're at believing the announcer... "Patrick Swayze with the 49 yard punt," anyone? Really? Not really. Really? I totally missed that one. Even heard him say, over the PA, "I knew I would do that at least once this year .. " That's it. I'm done paying attention to my wife!
  9. Meanwhile Rene Stephan is thinking "Now they like West? Great. I could handle it when the irrational fan dumping on NI special teamers was split between the two of us, but now...."
  10. Obviously impossible to answer that, but the main advantage I would previously have given Collaros is his scrambling ability and how he can extend plays because of it. That advantage still holds true, Willy is not that style of QB, but what Willy can do (which I did not expect - at least at this level) is move around the pocket with great fluidity. He also does not panic when flushed from the pocket. Re-watching the first exhibition game from Toronto I was reminded of Aaron Rodgers when I watched Willy; specifically how he keeps his feet moving while scanning downfield, always resetting so he's in the best possible throwing stance. He doesn't have the same small hops that Rodgers does, but the end result is the same. Find target - fire. Willy can scramble too and he shown that in one play during the first pre-season game. But why utilize the scrambling ability if he can make throws from the pocket. Just reserve it until the time it's actually needed and to surprise defenses. Well, the scrambling that he showed in that game is exactly what I expected out of him - unaccounted for, 20 yards of open space, run as fast as I can forward until it's time to hit the deck. Collaros has the ability to make people miss and is a significantly better runner. Willy makes the best use of his feet when he's not trying to be a ball carrier. But yes, in a pinch he can remind defences they can't cheat when it comes to accounting for the QB.
  11. ONeil Wilson made sense to me, but that Terrence Edwards signing? What the heck do we need an import who's averaged 350 yards per season in Montreal for? Camp fodder is what I said, if I recall correctly. EDIT: However, what I did not do is repeatedly cry for him to get cut after he had an excellent training camp.

  13. Dude you can't just call the woodchuck nonchalantly like that. It's the WOODCHUCK for crying out loud. The very fabric of time and space could explode if you just randomly use the woodchuck any old time. ...HAVE SOME RESPECT! WOODCHUCK play is worth 14 points. It's in the rules.
  14. Elements of what made his defence unique in the past have been incorporated by other teams over the last 5 years. At times there was a lot of movement on the line, guys dropping out or moving up, but not on every single play. I can definitely see why picking out who was pressuring/blitzing was tough.
  15. I yelled at them "CALL THE WOODCHUCK" on more than one occasion, but to no avail. No chance the Bombers would have been able to stop the woodchuck play. Obs.

  17. I wouldn't say you were wrong, he was my pick too. Willy was two - best part is Willy was #3 for the bombers (they wanted Burris after Collaros went to Hamilton). It's cliche but so true in a lot of cases, and it is here - sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make. We missed on Collaros, and we lost out on Burris. Not sure why people continue to claim that Willy was the third choice for the Bombers out of the three available quarterbacks. Collaros and Burris were pursued first because they were available first. It was well publicized that ideally we wanted both Willy and Burris but obviously that didn't pan out with the ridiculous contract he signed in Ottawa. The team is on record as saying Willy is the player they coveted most. No it's not because he's the one we ended up with but rather because he is simply the best quarterback of the three (what a novel concept), and I would have said that before last night as well without hesitation. Exactly. The optics of not going after those two would have been indefensible. Even though the optics of being outbid for both made us look like the same old cheap Winnipeggers that can't bring themselves to raise at the big boy table... if we truly had our target set on Drew Willy... we look really good after what he showed yesterday. I say this as a guy who was firmly in the Willy camp at the end of last year Just to hopefully eliminate any and all confusion going forward: January 29 - Collaros released by Toronto. January 30 - Collaros signs with Hamilton January 30 - Burris released by Hamilton February 4 - Burris signs with Ottawa February 6 - Winnipeg trades for Willy's negotiating rights ahead of the February 15 free agency period Not only were these 3 QBs not available at the same time, not even 2 of them were available at the same time. They were pursued in the chronological order they came available, not in order of preference. For some people to assume that Burris being released was obvious months ahead of it happening and was "the Bomber's second choice" is absurd. Burris was property of Hamilton up until the moment they signed Collaros and chose to release Burris. For the people who assume the Bombers would have ignored Collaros and Burris if Willy was their first choice, that is absurd. That would be terrible management. Willy re-signing with Saskatchewan or going to another team was always a possibility, and one that the Bombers had no control over. For the Bombers to have done anything other than what they did would have been an offence worthy of Walters' unemployment. That is not to say that it may not also have been in order of preference; only the Bomber braintrust will ever know for certain. My take is that the Bombers wanted 2 of these guys and their preference was one of them to be Willy. Burris' $ ask made that impossible.
  18. Wouldn't make a huge difference which one was in there - not when they're lined up across from Chad Owens. He got picked on and mostly acquitted himself well. There was one sloppy missed tackle along the sidelines I'm sure he'd like back. And like I said back over in the CFL cuts thread, getting another NI DT who can spell Thomas has got to be a high priority for this club. I thought he had a solid game last night, but it's tough to keep that throttle running wide open for the entire game when you're close to 300 pounds. Floyd - Owens getting blown up for no gain on what looked like the beginning of a huge punt return - that was West. Or Ian Wild, then Dan Wild, if you believe the announcer. Also, the red zone is now from the 25 yard line in, if you believe the other announcer. Not sure what was up with that, or why I spend so much time arguing with the announcers when they can't hear me. I guess I'm easily distracted. Oh look - something shiny!
  19. Under the pretense of bored and looking for something to do during my adolescent years, I could probably point to a dozen different times where fate could have gone in the opposite direction and I end up in jail or dead from something that started out as a goof. And by all normal measures I will not be mistaken for either Evel Knievel or Al Capone. People who are not grown-ups will often not act grown up.
  20. Not just your mom, lot's of people here have high opinions of you: Pressure's on, don't let them down. I WILL SCORE A TOUCHDOWN! I PROMISE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!! Now I feel bad for picking Steele.
  21. That gets you 3 pretty good lines. Potentially 1 great line and 2 pretty good lines. That would be enough to contend for 8th in the conference. Not sure Buff, Jokinen Raymond screams obvious chemistry to me though.
  22. Not just your mom, lot's of people here have high opinions of you: Pressure's on, don't let them down.
  23. ? No. That's why I quoted you. I really don't want to put anything in your mouth.
  24. In this certainly, you will be quite alone. Seriously, you think a real live not cartoon professional football coach will struggle emotionally with leaving his starting QB in after only 15 minutes of the regular season if he doesn't experience immediate success? As for the list, they should have made it all Rider players. 46 plus 4 from the PR. Anything less is an flaming pile of crap in the eyes of impartial rider fans.
  25. You're too quick to judge. And too lazy to read the thread, lol.. He did take it to some odd places tho in that rant.. And I hope he squatted behind the CFL merch section in the Bomber store and did a dookie. Why do I hope this? Because it's the internet! Wheeeeeee!
