  1. The Jets still need help at every position. It's just some spots are less desperate than others. Right now they would be best served taking a forward. Obviously. If they trade Kane it very likely means they are picking up a LW in free agency. Really, they would have to. They already need another LW even if they don't trade him. Trading Kane on it's own doesn't make much sense for their current roster, doing it as part of a larger strategy has some value to this club. Ignoring needs, I like Draisaitl.
  2. That's why no one said it. Except you.
  3. What? I was referring to Browning, but I didn't specifically mention him. I suspect the "What?" was more along the lines of if you consider that a big splash signing, Hinse should get the Bobby Hull Portage and Main treatment. But I shouldn't speak for another poster.
  4. Or Ray. With Calvillo retired there shouldn't be any other option to pick
  5. Change it to this and your life will be much simpler.
  6. I prefer to remember the way things were during the first game last year, expecting perfection from the get-go, pretend no changes were made, get angry, stay angry, cradle that anger like a newborn baby on a ferris wheel, and never ever ever pretend for a second that any part of a gameday experience is enjoyable. After all, isn't that what it means to be a Bomber fan?
  7. I'm chuckling over here. No. He proved that he doesn't have the tools to be a head coach in this league, not even close, but for him to crack that top echelon of Bart Andrus awfulness? No, he just wasn't that interesting. His time as head coach will be a footnote in Bomber history. The truly awful ones get their own chapters. A head coach with zero positive attributes. Yep, Burke is one of the worst ever, the only one in his league in Bomber history is Reinebold, and even though his teams sucked his players would have tried to run through a brick wall if that was the play call, so he had some positive attributes. The only head coach I can remember in my time who was worse than Burke is John Huard. I'd but Burke at par with Andrus, Paopao and the American Greg Marshall as head coaches as the next tier of garbage head coaches after Huard. We'll see if Chris Jones joins that crew. I suspect it was on a few occasions.
  8. That one. To offer that much to move up 5 spots there better be a pretty big prize at the end. To me, Ekblad isn't that prize. But the Nucks have different needs than the Jets.
  9. Most people would watch a train wreck if they knew where and when it was going to happen. The Allouette's have their 18 potential train wrecks scheduled.
  10. I'm wholeheartedly inclined to agree except Winnipeg is such an unlikely choice for random made-up draft trade rumours that something like this showing up nudges me in the direction of the old smoke/fire adage. But of course I don't twit or pay attention to who does, so for all I know this could be the handle of Gary Bettman. Or my plumber. Hi Randy. He's reading this, right, that's how the internet works?
  11. He was a divisional all star last year, keep in mind. The league is pretty thin on ESTABLISHED stars right now, it's a very transitional time for the CFL. Depending on when they put this together Max Hall might make the list.
  12. Value is in the eye of the beholder. The Jets have quite a few prospects at center and at D. They have very little at left wing. Kane does have more value to the Jets than he would to many other teams. As for the trade being discussed, Tallon is basically saying he is open to ridiculous offers if someone wants to make one. I doubt the Jets make a ridiculous offer. From what I've seen, Chevy is sensible to a fault. If this was a draft that included a once-in-a-generation player, then you make that ridiculous offer. Get that next Crosby or Tavares. For Ekblad? No.

  14. If Burke had been in BC getting the Benevides bump, he'd still be a head coach. Would that make him a better head coach? Well, people say you're judged by your record, and his record would have been better.... No matter, he was an average to below average head coach with average to below average talent. Done deal. Would have been nice to have a few better pieces to carry in to 2014, but that wasn't really his job.
  15. Apparently Stegall and Onterio Smith are no longer active players in the CFL. There goes my first two choices. Fine then, Steele seems like a money bet, but I'll gladly be wrong. Stegall works for TSN now. So he'll be at the game? I'm sticking with my first choice!
  16. If Burke is as skilled an orator in the locker room as he is in front of the media, then head coaching is not his calling. The point of which is that he seldom has given an interview where he hasn't sounded like he's muddling thru it. Putting Tim-speak into English, what I take away from that interview was he knew it wasn't a great situation to be in but went ahead with it anyways. What upsets me most about 2013 isn't Burke or his coaching style, it's that everything about that season was a repeat of the mistake we made with Jim Daley. Repeating such an obvious stupid mistake. Giving the interim guy a job because he put up an almost .500 finish to the season. Stupid. Include him in the next coaching search if you want, but do the stinking due diligence when it's a position that important. They just looked at their notes from 2010 and said "Whelp, he came in second to the guy we just fired, therefore he must now be first. Right? Duoy!11!"
  17. Hole ona minnut Hole ona minnut rite dare I know there's a contingent of people who will argue that Burke sucks... BUT If they are going to imply that the 2013 Bombers was a team loaded with talent that was mismanaged by the coach, I'm gonna say pump those brakes. Pretty simple question. There have been massive changes to this roster from last year, both in the starting 24 and in depth. Other than the players who are in the NFL right now, which of the players from last year do people want back? The 2013 Bombers was a weak weak team.
  18. Apparently Stegall and Onterio Smith are no longer active players in the CFL. There goes my first two choices. Fine then, Steele seems like a money bet, but I'll gladly be wrong.
  19. If we can start 4 Natl on the OL, we can start 4 Intl on the DL (Anderson instead of Thomas) and we can add 1 more Intl DL as DI. I think that would be an upgrade already. Better still to start 5 on the lines freeing up more spots for I at the skill positions. The value of having an extra "skilled" receiver might be lower than you think. When Willy is on the IR.
  20. The answer remains, as always, do the coaches think any of the guys we have can be trusted at tackle. I kinda doubt it, but we still need him. We're starved for depth there even if we only start 3. We have a guy with 0 minutes played so far in his career (Goossen), an injured guy (Swiston), and a DL conversion project (Everett). Needed to be done. What? Que?
  21. Let's see them try and run it up the middle now! Ha!
  22. Milt Stegall.
  23. Wouldn't bother me one bit if they gave every castoff in the league a tryout. In fact, they should really set up a special department to do just that. Every time a player gets cut from another team, half the people on the interwebs suggest we pick him up. Now we can satisfy all the armchair coaches. Just don't sign the bad ones. And for anyone who suggests that anything that happened in 2009 falls on the shoulders of someone other than Kelly, I will rain hellfire upon them. Internet style.
  24. there is no KHL risk with Yakupov, he came to play in the OHL really young don't forget, people just like to pile on the kid cause they got a stick up their ass when he had the audacity to celebrate scoring goals. The reason Edmonton would want Kane would be to add size to their top 6, but I dunno that you get Yakupov for Kane. Sophmore slump doesn't drop the value or the consensus #1 draft choice in his draft year by that much. Gotta remember that as a rookie he did lead the Oilers in goal scoring. Outside of one explosive April in the strike-shortened season, he doesn't have much a track record to point to really. I suspect Kane would be enough, Edmonton seems to have lost a fair amount of patience with Upov. Does he add value to this lineup? If he becomes what people think he'll become, he adds value to any lineup. Same can be said about Kane though.
  25. Let's worry about that when the time comes. Injuries happen and having an experienced guy like Banks waiting in the wings isn't the worst thing in the world. We might be an injury away from needing him. Worst case scenario we can trade him to Ottawa for their first rounder next year. Desjardins will go for that.
