Pencer has looked rock solid thus far in his career? I thought this camp and his limited time last season all looked like they were progressions in where he was before.. Not leaps and bounds but not a wasted endeavour yet.. Swiston looks like he'll be on the 9 game IR as soon as the Bombers are allowed to put him on it, so Pencer isn't going anywhere in the short term. Not unless Quinn Everett looks absolutely amazing. Eight NI Olinemen on a CFL roster is pretty much the minimum. Some teams carry ten. He won't put together a 12 year career based on potential though.

The expectation that athletes in their early 20's are supposed to behave like Mother Teresa just because they happen to be athletes is bound to disappoint. More often than not they will behave just like any other 21 year old male. Unless they have more disposable income, then they may behave worse. Nothing on his rap sheet raises my eyebrows. Been there, done that. The 3 knee surgeries might be a concern if I hadn't seen him running at practise. Powerful, smooth strides, quite an effortless runner actually.

And the offseason in Montreal is fast approaching Bomberland status, but they still have a few more strides to take if they want to get there.

Here's the issue - it's this statement that implies outright states that Miller was pushing OShea to hire Worman. Miller talking with old associates? Totally believable and I have no doubt it happened. Miller putting their names forward as possible candidates for those jobs? Totally believable and I can easily imagine it happened. Miller having an opinion on who should be hired for those jobs? He's only human, of course he would have an opinion. Miller pulling a Lyle Bauer and trying to force an old friend on to this team? This is where the rubber would have to meet the road for me. That's the part that stays in the land of bad rumours until proven otherwise. I would imagine Miller has probably spoken with Worman and Walby at some point in the last week and will continue to for many years to come. And what he may say during those conversations may be different than what he says elsewhere, much like what a person hypothetically says in front of their wife might be slightly different than what they tell their friends about their wife. It's a pretty normal human behaviour.

Hall has been the 2nd best QB all camp, so until someone is consistently better than him he's not going anywhere. Why would we get rid of him? His massive contract? His poor attitude? 2013 was his first year in the CFL. He will continue to learn as long as we let him. Brohm on the other hand has also spent a year in the CFL and doesn't show any better than Marve, who has spent 2 weeks here. I won't be surprised if the Bombers start the year with Marve on the PR while he continues to learn the CFL game, but bumping him up to #3 and bringing a different prospect in for that PR spot might be the best option. If Marve does some good things against Calgary he may do enough to earn OShea's trust. The way of the CFL is almost every team carries 4 QBs now and no team has needed 4 QBs as badly as the Bombers in the last few years. If anyone gets the axe it won't be just because we wanted to get down to 3 guys; it will be because they were evaluated as not good enough. Brohm costing us a 4th rounder means nothing. It will not grant him any additional job security. He has to show that he can make positive contributions to this team if he's kept around.

Yes it's a silly debate. The CFL is what the CFL is. My biggest fear though, still, is Toronto getting an NFL team. If that ever comes to pass, in a few years, you can kiss that big TV contract goodbye. Why would that be? Arent ratings for the CFL higher in places like Sk than Toronto? And in Canada, rating for the CFl are higher than ratings for the NFL. Certainly, losing the largest TV market would be a negative and probably impact the TSN TV deal, but Im not sure it would kill the CFL. The NFL also seems to be very responsible on this issue, insisting that any owner of a Toronto NFL team also own the CFL team to ensure it's continued survival. An NFL team in Toronto would be a hard blow for the CFL. The reason the TV deal is so high is that TSN thinks they can recoup their investment via advertising dollars. Most corporations, not all, but most try and link their brand to one major advertising push at a time. Some will stay with the CFL. Some will try and hitch their wagon to the NFL. Few will do both. In terms of overall dollars the NFL would have a minimal affect on gate revenue. The big blows would come in TV and sponsorship revenue. Many of the corporations branding with the CFL are Ontario based. The CFL wouldn't shut down just because a NFL team moves in to the dome. It would definitely big a noticeable blow though. ps - the Bills aren't moving to Toronto. Toronto might want a team; Toronto doesn't always get what it wants. see: Cups, Stanley.

The "fact" you are arguing is incorrect - this is not practise time. It's training camp. Players are being evaluated to decide who will make the team. If you feel this is unimportant we could have stuck with last years roster. If you feel that spending a large portion of training camp evaluating our backup import Olineman instead of our NI prospects, then I guess we'll just agree to disagree. Alrighty. Myself and 9 CFL teams will agree and you will disagree.

Not impossible, but to me it seems more likely we use a DI spot for that if we're starting 3 import Olinemen. Traditionally there isn't a lot of rotating of Olinemen to keep them fresh; it's usually an injury situation. Burning one DI spot backing up 2 players and likely not getting any special teams play out of that guy is questionable use. DI'ing an O lineman means that our NI OL's aren't even good enough to be a backup. If we start 3 NI OL, and I really doubt we will, we will back them up with an NI. We have 4 DI's this year. We can be creative if we choose. No one seems to be giving much thought as to why the Bombers might use 3 import Olinemen. Obviously they've made no decision on it yet but they are giving the following question a lot of thought: Will we get more production from our offence with a third import receiver or will we get more production from having the best possible offensive line? What might we get out of that 3 import Oline that we would not get otherwise? - QB who is still healthy come the August long.weekend - QB who has more than two steamboats to throw, even when the defensive is sending full blitzes - Non-sucky running game that easily converts second and twos What might we get out of that third import receiver that we would not get otherwise? - 400 yards more than Feoli-G over the course of the season? So a) there might be a method to what Floyd considers madness, and if the Bombers are giving protection that high of a priority, then using the extra DI spot on an import Olineman is entirely within the realm of reason.

Not sure what a better lawyer would do. The blame has to fall squarely on Scott Flory and whoever else was pushing the outrageous demands from the beginning. This deal should have been worked out in the off-season, with the players coming in with a more reasonable offer. In my opinion, if they hadn't have played hardball, they could have gotten a little more out of this deal. The old saying is underpromise and overdeliver. Flory overpromised to such a ridiculous extent that underdelivering was always a certainty.

I think O'Shea is just throwing that out there to try to get the NI's to step up. I've seen this as his plan from the beginning. When have we ever brought in import competition at guard and center? There is no way the Bombers can actually afford, ratio wise, to have 3 import olinemen. It's just a matter of which two positions on the line will have imports. Definitely LT, maybe RG, maybe RT. That's why it is so baffling that so many imports are getting the bulk of the practice time... Let's say there are 6 import Olinemen in camp, and let's say the Bombers intend to keep 3 of them. One starts for sure, another may or may not start depending on how the ratio sorts itself out, and a 3rd will be on the practise roster for depth. Now lets say that 2 linemen are head and shoulders above the other 4, for example, January and Jones, but the other 4 are all pretty equal in their ability to play tackle. How to pick the 1 guy out of those 4 to keep on the PR? Gut instinct? Sure, that counts for something. Hundreds of reps at the tackle spot over and over trying to spot mistakes? Well, yes, they'll do that too. But if you're going to keep 1 guy to back up 2, just 1, and all 4 are relatively equal at the tackle spot, wouldn't it be important to find out how those guys handle playing center and guard? Just in case? Even if the ratio makes it terribly unlikely that he would ever line up at those spots, wouldn't finding the most complete and versatile player who can potentially back up all 5 spots on the Oline be really important? The Bombers will keep almost all of their NI Olinemen. They might cut 1. Do we still have Pollywollydoodlealltheday on our roster? Maybe 2.

So, you guys wanted us to pursue someone who …..didn't re-sign with his original club after no NFL offers, and …..it was reported he wanted to go 'home' to the east, most thought Montreal, turns out he wanted Austin and the Ti-Cats, and …..to throw huge sums of money at him to try and convince him to come here, meanwhile knowing full well that he wouldn't fit in the system we are running. Money. Looking for answers as to why anything happens in life? Easiest starting point is follow the money. If the players do what you suggest they lose their game cheques. Losing a pre-season game only affects the revenue stream of the teams. Doesn't cost the players anything.

I thought he was decent for content, it's the shouty delivery that I'm not a fan of. Probably start on CJOB, flip when they go to commercials, flip back when TSN goes to commercials, etc, etc.

But if the D is going to feature a lot of movement and players dropping in and out of coverage, yeah, Laurent can't do that. He's a brute force nose tackle type. Edit - If Greg Marshall was still here running his 4-3, Laurent would be the man for the job.

Lucas and Thomas were inked in as one of the 7 starting NI's. It's not likely at all that Lucas was getting cut. Our NI starters took a hit when Lucas tore his ACL and we need to find another NI DT to rotate with Thomas if we still plan to use an NI at DT. It's much more likely IMHO that we will be forced to use 4 NI O lineman which is a shame because January and Jones were our two best O lineman last year and we won't be able to start both of them this year. No they weren't. I didn't hear anybody say that. You are speculating all the way out there in BC again. You are assuming that was the case but... you have no facts to back what you are saying up. That's your opinion. That's all it is, stop pretending like your opinion is always what the bombers are going to do. Speculation at best. What was actually rumoured was a non import field corner and safety. Never did hear anything about lucas or thomas. Not once, maybe from a couple of you on this board here but walters in the past mentioned field corner and safety as 2 likely spots. I'm of the impression Walters implied a field corner OR a safety. There are a couple of ways it can be handled and Lucas, Thomas and another couple of guys somewhere in the back 8 splitting the reps was a distinct possibility. In my opinion. It remains a possibility, but the 15 snaps a game or so that Lucas was going to get now have to go somewhere else. If they can't find a favourable way to allocate those snaps to a NI, the possibility of going 4 NI Oline or 2 NI secondary gets bolstered.

Revenue sharing is irrelevant. It is a formula for calculating the number for overall payroll. It is not the only formula. There are other ways of reaching the same number, including simply stating the number (what the CFL wants to do). The players think linking to revenue is smart because they expect revenue to go up. I'm not sure why they think that. Outside of Hamilton is there any reason to expect an increase in revenue? The numbers for the TV deal are set for the next 5 years. They won't move. Gate is likely to drop here in Winnipeg - a decrease in revenue. Ottawa will add to the number of teams generating revenue, but in terms of revenue generated per team they will very likely bring the average down. I know why the CFL isn't interested - they want cost certainty. I have no idea why the PA is so determined to push this - it is not the great lottery win they think it is. The CFLPA is really out of touch with what is going on in the league. Also out of touch with a calculator. "Deserve" is also irrelevant. It separates economic reality from happy fantasy. Ryan Lucas lost the use of his knee and the ability to play for the rest of the season. Does he "deserve" any less than Phillip Hunt, who also tore his ACL with the Philadelphia Eagles? Of course not. The economic reality is that CFL teams do not create enough profit to shift that profit over to players. Not at the level the PA is thinking. The PA wants to share in the revenue because they are partners. Well any partner I had would also share the costs. Revenue - costs = profits (loss). The CFL has to deal with the entire equation. The PA only wants in on the good part. And I still want the players to get more money.

Never thought the Bombers should be on the hook for covering transportation costs in the first place. People now covering half the cost of going to and from a game? I'm fine with that. I cover the entire cost of going to and from games.

If Kane can work on seeing the ice better and contributing to developing plays, especially on medium tempo rushes rather than his 100mph sprints, he can become one of the best left wingers in the league. It's a disservice to call him a one-trick pony because he has way more skill than that, but he still needs to add more tools to his game. He forces plays with his speed because it's done some good things for him in the past, but this is not the only way of generating offence. In the past he had no one to play with him and had to do so much on his own that this made sense. Now he has better players around him. He needs to play off of them rather than always forcing them to keep up with him.
