  1. A bit long-winded, but I agree.
  2. A Bruce Johnson Haiku I am quite surprised. Bubba claims conspiracies, Can't keep everyone.
  3. I'm pretty monogamous on the internets; never spent much time at OB. TEP for many years, then a divorce. After some healing, I was ready for a relationship again. Happily been on MBB for a few years. Won't see me straying over to Riderfans the first moment boredom sets in. Monogamous. I loved the O'Neil Wilson signing; finally we might solve that pesky NI receiver problem, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out why the Bombers signed some scrub from the Allouettes who only managed 400 yards in 2 CFL seasons. Waste of a training camp spot. Went by the name of Terrence Edwards. I'm amazed I even remember his name. That guy was totally useless.
  4. Alright. Third base it is then.
  5. Credentials? Well if your handle read Ed Tait rather than Booch, that would be simple enough. People have different approaches to life on the internet. I have no interest in revealing tons of personal details to internet strangers either (I'm assuming your parents didn't name you Booch). All that means is it takes longer to establish a track record than if you weren't using a pen name. Keyboard name? Mike, for example, both uses his real name and has established a track record over many years. And is a mod. I am not dismissing anything you say, in fact, I appreciate you sharing, but until I've formed an opinion otherwise, I take every insider tidbit from every poster here with a grain of salt. It's early in our relationship. I'm not willing to go to third base with you yet.
  6. Yes, and no disrespect to Booch, but I don't consider him a source. Not unless he wants to give some credentials as to why he should be considered a source. Or alternatively, establish a track record over time that he can be considered trustworthy even without presenting credentials. So far, I will only give him credit for being reasonably intelligent and knowledgeable about football, and does not show noticeable signs of frequent meth usage.
  7. Communication is a big part too. If the coaches are explaining how they are planning to turn him from a PR guy into a starter, and the timeframe for it, and what work he needs to do to make it happen, then the player has something to buy into. The evidence would indicate Spooner has bought into the Bombers org. and the plans they have for him.
  8. Well, I wasn't about to yell "SOURCE!!!" but I wasn't sure. I haven't seen any media or team reference to this anywhere. Of course, I haven't gone looking either. So it did seem like a bunch of speculation based on a move to the IR was possibly the real story and there wasn't any substance to it.
  9. Farjado is the golden boy of a previous GM, while Matthew played a few games back when Trestman was still in the CFL. It may simply be a trust/comfort decision. Of course, if that's how Trestman feels he could have made JM the #2 right out of camp.
  10. So what does that say about the DBs Etienne played against? Those are the guys who let that laughably soft receiver lead CanWest in TD's, yards per catch, yards per game and total receiving yards. If this guy and his teammates couldn't stop Jade from putting up over 100 yards per game, who's the real punchline?
  11. St. John starting at defensive end next week.
  12. 2009 does not encapsulate all of who Mike Kelly is as a person or a coach, any more than 1994-98 does for me. These are chapters in a much longer story. He is very likely capable of both coaching football and not denigrating people just to make himself look better, even if he failed to do so in 2009. My feelings on him and that season have been stated often. They aren't remotely positive. Time has not lessened the 5 alarm tire fire that 2009 was. I have no ill will towards him. I hope he has 40 healthy grandchildren, or whatever number seems appropriate. But I have no desire to talk about him. Or think about him. With over 7 billion people on this planet that should be possible, even easy to do. I've simply moved on.
  13. If teams are really concerned about this problem they can negotiate it out of the next CBA. Players will probably say no problem, all you have to do is pay PR players a full salary, cause that's what a player gets when they are moved from the PR to the AR. And that's when teams will once again say they are fine with keeping things as they are. We are witness to the birth of status quo.
  14. Listening to the fans...yeah, that's how a team should be run. We should be sitting JFG and Coates in the next game because certain fans think they "need to see" the NI receivers on our practise roster.
  15. The Jim Rome Show - where the internet learned how to behave...
  16. Where did this extra draft pick come from? (cause otherwise, you're just making a lot of stuff up based on hindsight and presenting it as fact)
  17. Good for him. As long as he's not employed by the Bombers, I hope all his days are rosy and his sewer never backs up.
  18. Oh come on... a CFL player still on his rookie contact? Keeping him on the active roster these last six weeks cost us hundreds of millions thousands hundreds tens of dollars!!!
  19. So you shouldn't be allowed here because...Road Griller? There is no logic or reason in your statement. These things are totally unrelated. Go be mad at Etienne and Mack.
  20. Fo shizzle
  21. If the receivers feet had touched the ground out of bounds he would not be eligible to play the ball. He didn't. And while it was really close, the ball didn't touch the ground out of bounds either. Live ball. Stupid decision that worked out for them. Just like Thomas handing the ball off to Knox worked out for us last week.
  22. They could issue it. Would it stick if appealed considering he was acquitted? I don't recall all of the specifics of that one - my memory says the league instructed teams that they should not sign him and if they did the league would not register the contract. All of the teams were fine with that. My memory also says that Cox had other legal troubles to deal with beyond that one. I wonder what would have happened if he had appealed that CFL decree thru the PA? It might be entirely 50-50 based on the personality of the judge. He was acquitted of the charge that the CFL used as the basis for that edict. The lack of an appeal on his part might entirely be because he these other legal issues to deal with. I suspect the difference between the two would be that contact with a referee is already in the CBA and the penalty for it has been agreed on between the league and the PA, while being a horrible person and wife-beater isn't covered in the CBA, or at least not covered with as specific a penalty as exists for contacting a referee. That's my guess. I haven't read the CBA.
  23. Something like this falls under both the rules and the CBA. The officials judge based on the rules and issue the penalty, and the commish can add punitive measures that fall within the parameters outlined in the CBA. I imagine unlike pass interference, the transgressions and the range of punishments available are pretty clear. Unless there is one more level left for actually punching a ref such as a lifetime ban, I feel safe in saying that everyone, including the commissioner, views this as the most serious transgression and deserving of the maximum punishment. So if the max punishment allowed under the CBA is 1 game, and I don't know that it is, but it sounds like it is, then wouldn't the CFL and the commish look like idiots if they suspended the player for 4 games? How would having the brand new commish appear to not understand his own CBA and also appear to be rather incompetent be right for the situation? And how would putting the league and player thru a legal process that the league is guaranteed to lose be right for the situation? I imagine the commissioner is fairly dissatisfied with the punishment he is allowed to dish out, hence his statement to change this: "I’m committed to developing a policy in the very near term to improve and codify safety standards to further protect our officials" It is frustrating that the CFL keeps finding itself in these positions of weakness. Someone there should have had the foresight to address this long before 2017. That said, moving to a Roger Goodell police-state like the NFL is has absolutely no appeal to me.
