  1. That, and it seems like often we go away from whatever we had done to get us there. DB's on their heels? Back to back hand-offs.
  2. One of those guys took themselves waaaaay too seriously. Came down with a massive case of "like" envy. Railed against everyone for not getting enough credit for !!!FIRST!!!. And don't even get me started on gbill.
  3. He isn't? Sonofa...
  4. The Bombers will start one NI receiver and they'll probably have 4 somewhere on their roster. I can't recall a year where they haven't had minimum 6 NI receivers in camp. Some seasons it's been 7.
  5. Marshall Fergusson would like to add that Johnny Augustine has a body sculpted by the gods. Never forget.
  6. Johnny Augustine and Jordan Herdman agree - those CFL pre-draft rankings should be all that matters.
  7. The events of today would make it seem that the Bombers feel otherwise.
  8. Did not re-sign him. Bad teams have room for major improvements all over the roster. Good teams usually only can get better in small increments. The Bombers are finally in a situation where all positions don't need major overhauls. Also known as having a good problem. Morgan apparently is a guy that they were able to upgrade slightly by getting Conteh & Branning. Only 21 Canucks on the roster. Won't have room for everyone; can't keep everyone. Good luck to Morgan; no doubt the Riders will sign him later today.
  9. When I'm here I wear all my top hats and monocles.
  10. He'll probably remain listed as a FA on the CFL page until he fills out whatever retirement paperwork exists.
  11. Ohh boy!!! The schmidts about to get real!!!
  12. The choices always seem to be age, opportunities or injuries. Probably not the first one.
  13. Woof. Well, we could always take Nichols out and put him in for the one time (rounding up) Lapo runs that play this year.
  14. I don't think I was hating on Buttcrack U, I'm advocating for the talent that comes out of there. Just to be perfectly clear, I'm totally pumping Buttcrack.
  15. It's certainly an interesting tidbit. Most of these guys have an interesting tidbit. Just like whatshisface played for the Lions and idolizes Megatron and Megatron dated his sister and he does everything right like Megatron and...nevermind, we already cut him. The thing about the CFL is pedigree counts for very little here. Guys from Buttcrack U have just as much success here (and it feels like more) as the guys from BigName U. The field size? The waggle? Playing a yard off the line? Coming to Canada with too much ego? Can't bring their firearms along? Not sure what it is, but it seems like the resume of a player on that side of the border isn't a great predictor of success on this side of the border. I certainly don't care one way or the other how stuff is laid out on this site. Not my site. Didn't bother me that you started a new topic for it. In either thread format the net result is the same; we talk about him for a day or two and then move onto the next thing.
  16. Could not possibly be higher than a 4th, and even that feels generous. However, Jones is a terrible GM...
  17. 40 separate threads about signing some guy from from somewhere U before camp and 40 separate threads about some guy from somewhere U getting cut at the end of camp...I'm fine with the superthread. If a player transaction is worthy of his own thread it's usually obvious. All that said, it's definitely time we overthrow Mike.
  18. Scouting reports are the best. "He's a system quarterback. 3-, 5-, 7-step guy. Can't create on his own. Panics under pressure. Gets flustered easy." - presumably not a Packers scout, since they took Aaron Rodgers.
  19. All of the above. Very surprising, hope it's not serious, hope for a strong and speedy rebound.
  20. Do what I do when I see a topic started by BigBlue - click "mark as read".
  21. Has nothing to do with "The League". Teams in the league have existing ownership groups and facilities that are ideal (or as close to ideal as these cities will ever get), therefore many will be interested. Not all. Toronto is already doing exactly the same thing in a different league. Vancouver and Montreal would not be interested because they would have to compete against existing teams that have their own ownership groups and facilities.
  22. He outright said Marouf is competing with Butcher for a spot on the PR. Not that it's a binding contract but it surprised me that he made it that black and white. I'm sure if both show significant promise he'd find room for both of them.
  23. There is no single correct way to structure the ratio. You amass as much talent as you can. The cap plays a significant role in that. One of the ways teams have had success is by playing two NIs at receiver. I'd like the Bombers to have that flexibility as well, because it's still against some obscure rule to start 3 guys at center. If Harris is out for a month, then what? Starting two canucks at receiver is a sound plan B. It's also not the only one. My preference is to keep Bond where he is because he is awesome, rather than moving to 3 NI Olinemen, or starting another NI on D. Getting more Canadian receiving talent on the roster is just plain smart. All that said, Getzlaf is out of our price range.
  24. Those guys have NFL contracts - Judge doesn't. He was a linebacker at UCLA. The NFL is very aware of his existence. They're not playing catch-up like CFL scouts because of his late nationality classification issue. He was passed on at the NFL draft and passed on after it too. He's no different to the NFL teams than the other 2000(?) graduating players they didn't sign. But he has a NI status up here, so their not-quite-good-enough player is our potential future all-star. His agent will be making calls and sending out tapes. CDs? Zip files? Youtube links? Maybe he gets a team to bite. Maybe someone ahead of him gets injured. Maybe he gets a chance he wouldn't have otherwise gotten because of it, and maybe he shines. That's a whole lotta maybes. The chances of him getting a NFL job are slim at this point, but I don't fault him for trying.
  25. And now it's the lesser Herdman that gets drafted first?
