BTW: If he had played a full 18 + Pre-Season + Playoffs last year the Bombers would have repeatedly been penalized for too many men... Because they started 3 imports on the Oline last season for most of the season...so if this is the new standard for being injured...Couture and Spooner didn't have healthy seasons either...so it's a pretty flawed way of looking at it...this message brought to you by ellipses...ellipses...how grandpa used to talk when nap time was near...

It's football, we'd better be planning that injuries will happen. At every spot. That doesn't mean Dyakowski should be signed. Can we get the same level of play from Couture and save $60,000 in the process? The way people talk here, it seems like Neufeld is the only player to get injured in his career. What I remember in 2017 is he started all the games he was asked to when Bond got injured. Bond, that guy some people still are really hung up on losing. Does that count as irony? My recollection is that Goossen and Chungh were the only starters on the Oline to not miss any starts last year, and Chungh was playing pretty injured for a few games. My point is Neufeld is a forum whipping boy - maybe it's the red hair? Someone should check if he was a stepchild. Sometimes it needs to be dialed back to an objective look at reality. He has missed more games than average for his position. Has he had more injuries than average or have his injuries just been more severe? Injury prone? Just unfortunate? He's going to get a physical before camp. The doctors are going to check his knees, for example. They might be normal knees for an Olineman who has played pro ball for more than 5 years (not great). They might be in rough shape for an Olineman who has played 5 years (not much life left). Or they might be in bad shape for an Olineman (will need a lift assist in his house within 20 years). And unless he doesn't pass his physical, we won't know the results of it. It could be he has the best set of knees on the team and this "luck of the Irish" isn't a real thing. And what does any of that have to do with Dyakowski? Nothing really. There is still limited space on the roster, and the plans the Bombers have for the players they have been developing may not allow for one more non-starter. Goossen, Chungh, Neufeld and Couture are on the 44, as well as Bryant and Hardwick. Foketi as the perpetual healthy scratch. Spooner on the 1-game IR all year? 6 game? Back to the PR? Gray? Speller? DraftedOlineman#1? DraftedOlineman#2? For that matter, my recollection is also that Dyakowski has had a few injuries of his own during his time in Hamilton. Did you know someone had the gall to say something nice about Lankford yesterday? And they didn't even put it in a criticism sandwich? You know, where you say something bad about his skill level, quickly make a non-committal half-hearted compliment about something he did well, then insult his work ethic. We might need to take that poster aside and remind him that kind of independent thinking is not going to be well received here.

46 roster spots. If Dyakowski goes on, who comes off? Spooner isn't going to hang up the phone the next time another team calls if he feels like he can't play his way off the PR. Gray could be part of the equation this year; that's hard to predict. Less difficult is the Bombers taking an Olineman with one of their first two picks. Where does he end up? And while I know nothing at all about Speller, I will at least allow for the possibility that he might be good. Crazy talk, I know. It feels like with certain people here every time they mention that Neufeld has had some injuries they get to count that as another injury...the more it's said the truer it gets?

Nothing wrong with having Petan in the organization. If we have 5 or 6 forwards injured, put him in. If not, Moose fans probably would like a championship too. Considering the number of opportunities he's been given and done nothing with them, often with time on the PP and top lines, at this point he's a prospect in the same way Julian Melchiori is a prospect.

Wild fans are no slouch and there will be a lot of energy in their barn as well. What the Jets will likely and hopefully do is is wall off the red line and weather the first 10 minutes, then slowly push that line up to their blue until the Wild no longer have puck possession or space to move, sucking the life out of them and the energy out of the building. Don't trade hits right away, don't give them anything to feed off of, play patient, take away lanes and smother them, keep everything in front of us until their will breaks, then start pounding them into the boards once the doubt creeps in. Or put up 6 goals on Dubnyk in the first 10 minutes, both strategies will work.

That third goal brought me so much hockey joy. Minnesota had the puck on their sticks for 20 seconds trying to move it out of their zone. Little cut them off, then Roslovic, then Copp, and then each of them did it again. Finally all that pressure created a turnover, and two passes later the puck is in the net. That goal was earned thru high-level grinding and maximum effort forechecking. I cheered for all the goals but that was the one where I literally jumped out of my seat.

Nik Lewis type - not much speed but the villagers can't ever seem to tackle him.

I'm no scout, but if we find a receiver whose nickname is "Handsy", we probably should do a background check.

After Walters' presser a few weeks ago my pa-in-law says "So Muamba won't be playing for the Bombers this year..." and I pointed out that he hadn't signed anywhere else yet. And he still hasn't. And I still wouldn't be at all surprised if he ends up here. If he had a significantly better offer, he would have already signed. Some might be thinking he has to scheisse or get off the pot. From the Bombers perspective they don't really care, they're just done standing there politely holding the bathroom door open for him while he decides.

Shhhh. Quiet. I'm busy memorizing some blogger's mock draft so I can be furious when Walters doesn't trade up to select the guy with the most reps on the bench press. Viva la echo-chamber!

Oh good, we're doing this again. "MUAMBA!!!" - Captain Kirk

Anyone considering a trip to Minneapolis? Their tickets go on sale Wednesday @ 10.

I'm old enough to remember Tracker hints OShea and Walters should be fired on a weekly basis regardless what happens.

Regular season regulation loss. They lost 3 very important games in regulation in April 2015 to the Ducks. Otherwise, that is an eyebrow-raising tidbit indeed. Considering the only time the Thrashers ever made the playoffs they lost 4 straight to the Rangers, that means this "franchise" has still never won a single playoff game. I'm really looking forward to the Jets hanging a Wild pelt over their locker room fireplace.

Makes sense to me. Buy in bulk, like shopping at costco. 4 receivers is like buying a 4 pack of toilet bowl cleaner. They won't go bad and you'll use them eventually. Maybe in 8 years. NI Receivers work the same way.
-
To clarify, I mean if they are currently injured, not because of the risk of injury.
-
This year was a down year for the Oilers but they are long way from a complete team. McJesus can only do so much. He's good enough to trick people into believing his teammates are also the real deal.
-
The only reason starters shouldn't be playing is injury, not fatigue. I haven't heard an update on Enstrom in a while.

So the team owned by Molson charges the most for beer...let me check...yep, that's a lol.

Game 80 : BellMTS Place @ Bell Centre
mbrg replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
There were several posters here who thought the Jets should offer up Ehlers when Tampa sent Drouin down a few years ago. Would any of those people be so brave as to identify themselves? #whatdidchevydotoday? Answer: Not make a stupid trade. -
Game 78 : Bus Rider @ Spadina Bus

re-posted for emphasis Wonderful childhood memories of Harry Neal and Bob Cole cheering for them to beat the Jets 4 nights a year, the only 4 nights a year CBC could be bothered to televise Jets games. -
Last place team in the division without their captain and #1 goalie = wolves? Maybe we're confused? Are you thinking they the Jets were playing the Chicago Wolves?
-
I'm happy for that Foster "kid". If the Jets aren't going to put up 5 goals on him and actually win the game, this guy getting a faux shut-out in what will probably be his only NHL game is too good a story not to cheer for.
