  1. Sure is. A dropped pass is an incompletion. A dropped punt/kickoff is a fumble. (now where did those eye rolls wander off to...)
  2. It is standard practise to have players with "suspect hands" handle return duties... (place all the eye rolls here)
  3. No foresight at all - just picking all the long shots in the hopes of leapfrogging everyone. And for the second time this season, that strategy failed.
  4. When it comes to contributions to the team vs public recognition, Jake Thomas might be the most underrated player in the league.
  5. The effect of the tweet was that it made it impossible for the CFL to sweep this under the rug. Would they have done that? It's impossible to know.
  6. Can't even be bothered anymore...
  7. Someone should let them know they could make a little extra cash if they put in some banner ads...
  8. That's a fair statement. Also we should remember that Saskatchewan has tremendous value as a training ground for future orthodontists.
  9. You have no worries here, this ass clown is savoury - took a lemongrass and paprika shower this morning.
  10. If only the internet had been around then to condemn those wins for not being winny enough...what a terrible time to be alive!
  11. Best special teams in the CFL this year. For whatever that's worth. (wins)
  12. That's an interesting question. The whole notion of Saskatchewan propping up the league is laughable garbage, and there's not an ounce of truth to that. But how it actually works? Let's start by not talking about that other moldy team at all. When I buy something from the Bomber store, they get all the cash. But do the Bombers keep all the cash, or does a portion go to the CFLPA? Note that I did not say the CFL. And when someone buys Bomber merch from the silly little rack at Walmart or Kandahar Tire, how does the pie get sliced then? And how does that change if I buy Bomber merch off the CFL website? There will be three different answers to these questions, and I could only guess at them. Back to the total crap Rider fans are suggesting above, there is only one economic value they add to "the league", and that is other teams experience a bump in ticket sales when the Riders are in town. None of the other nonsense suggested results in revenue for anyone other than the Riders, and to continue to suggest simply cements their status as the league's most insufferable fans.
  13. Shhh....I'm trying to concentrate on my Madden....
  14. No one is taking money away from the players. It's very unlikely the Riders are at the cap now. Every team except perhaps Montreal leaves space to make some moves later in the season. If anything, this just means the Riders will have to bow out if some Muamba-like player hits the FA market mid-September. The player will still get money and a job, just not with the moldkings. And I am more than fine with them suffering that.
  15. I have no idea where you get this from. Maybe it's not something you pay attention to, but about 10 minutes prior to kickoff George Huffinpuff (not sure what his real name is) announces to the stadium the scratches for both teams. That is when 7 becomes 6. And? Not sure that any of this means we would be wise to put 7 Olinemen on the field at the same time for the entire game. Are we granted bonus yards for having an extra Olineman on the sidelines? Might as well argue that the Bombers' problems earlier this year stemmed from not having 5 QBs on the game day roster.
  16. Nope. I am disagreeing with the amount of importance you are placing on it. And provided the real world illustration of how rarely (a) the Bombers have dressed 2 backup Olinemen for a game, and (b) how seldom this has come back to bite them in the rump. The Bombers are not in the minority in doing this either, they are in the majority. As for Couture specifically, he has shown that he is not ready to see regular snaps in the CFL yet. He's shown some good and some bad. Is it something worth using a DI spot for? For that reason, I'd still lean towards no. However, combined with a different reason - we're already using 3 imports on the Oline, so is that enough to get a proper ROI using a DI there? Now the needle moves to maybe. BUT, we still can't use that DI if Chungh or Goossen get injured without making ratio adjustments elsewhere, so I'm back to leaning towards no.
  17. Very few CIS rookies are ready to assume a starting role in the CFL in year 1. Next to none are ready in week 1.
  18. The last time I can recall the Bombers having 2 active backup Olinemen in a game was the one where Obby Khan was returning from his surgery. 2009?
  19. So to summarize this thread, Mulamba and Bilukidi's status remains completely unchanged since they are still fringe players trying to stick in the NFL one more season and there is no new indication that their eyes are turning north for work, and we should have had Gavin Walls play linebacker instead.
  20. Ellingson. (since I'm not eligible to play this week, I'll take a player in the same boat)
  21. And if anyone picks a tie and actually gets it right - full 4 point credit should be awarded.
  22. Picking the Bombers to win was the only game I got right last week.
  23. Here's what I would consider normal practise in the CFL - a coach or GM tells a player who gets injured in camp "maybe you should stick around town for a while". They saw something they liked about him but circumstances prevented him from winning the job outright. If an injury happens in week 4, they're probably on the phone trying to get him back in the country. It's left up to the player to decide if they want to spend some time in Winnipeg unemployed waiting on the hope of a job or head home and get a real job. And if they stick around, they probably won't have any trouble finding a couch to crash on somewhere, and probably not all 3 of their 3 squares a day are coming out of their own pocket. And he would have full access to the facility and all it's resources. This is what I understand to be happening when people say "everyone is doing it". I think a guy like Kris Adams might have fallen in that category. I have absolutely no knowledge of that situation and am using it purely as a hypothetical, but to me that is what I would consider normal and reasonably acceptable practise in the CFL. While their is a limit to how long you can stay in Canada on a work visa when you are no longer employed, I don't think you have to leave the country immediately, so I don't believe their is anything unethical or illegal happening in the hypothetical I gave. What is alleged with the Riders is something monumentally beyond that. I agree with 17to85, this speaks to Jones' massive ego and the belief that rules don't apply to him. Now his arrogance is combined with the Riders' bank account. I'd have no problem with the CFL investigating all 9 teams. Will they find out "everyone is doing it"? Yes, if we're talking about the situation I've outlined. Every team has to be doing that. Every team doing what the Riders are alleged to be doing? No chance in the slightest.
