  1. All games are winnable games. The Bombers played well last week, and also left a healthy amount of room for improvement. What happens tonight will not alter last week's performance. It is in the books.
  2. Sinopoli
  3. Well I didn't pick any teams last week, so I got that one correct by abstaining.
  4. Flawless execution of this idea so far. A Winnipeg legend followed by a CFL legend.
  5. CFL website is the worst website. Of all time. Seldom correct. Missing things that are really important. Want to know who won the Grey Cup in 1949? Check wikipedia, cause you won't find that on the CFL website. Draft result? lolololololololololololwhyonearthwouldweputthathere? Put so much effort into style there was nothing left for substance. The CFL game certainly has it's foibles and oddities. It's an eye of the beholder thing. One could argue that the extra down in the NFL allows for sustained drives where as the CFL has more punting. Or one could argue that the extra down in the NFL allows for more boring play calls, as drives look like 3 yard run, 3 yard run, 4 yard slant, 3 yard run, etc etc, down the field. The CFL has way more WTF??? moments than the NFL. Both the good kind and the bad kind. To me that makes it far more exciting to watch. One person's opinion.
  6. AND kept shouting down JPan85 that the dink and dunk passing not only played no role in the win, but was a bad thing. That is also something you did. On page 7. Hamilton has one of the stronger defences in the league and their success comes from massive pressure generated by the front 7. By intentionally dinking and dunking, Willy did not have the ball in his hands long enough for that pressure to become a factor. It is called a game plan. It is nearly the perfect game plan against Hamilton. In past years we didn't have the personnel to execute it effectively. This year with Smith and Harris, we do. Of course the defence also played a huge role in the win. As did special teams. Almost like it's a team game... There will always be differences in opinions here. That's what makes it a discussion forum. For many, that's part of the fun. Constantly behaving in the childish manner you do is what I have no patience for.
  7. For all his amazing runs, the Blinkiest memory that I have is the time he ran between the offensive and defensive tackle while they were fully engaged with each other. He just kinda twisted sideways and ducked under their elbows. I have seen all sorts of spin moves, juking and ankle breakers in my life. That is the only time I have ever seen anything like that. And the end result was just a boring old gain of 6 yards to the left side.
  8. I was thinking simply on offence, some plays like a run to the left while the right tackle is grabbing a jersey 30 yards away from the ball carrier. The reason I wouldn't want them to be making a decision until after the play is for the reasons you suggest. It would need to be completely obvious. CFL QB's can often spend 6 seconds running around in the backfield before they find a receiver and a hold at the start of the play might seem meaningless at that second and have a huge effect on what would have happened 4 seconds later. There will be coaches who lose their minds over this. End of the day, calling the existing rules correctly and with consistent application will always be my first choice over adding new twists to the rules.
  9. I'm not sure that's 100% factually incorrect, but it's awfully close.
  10. I'm not going to comment on the game because I didn't watch it. There's no point in going on and on about something I have no knowledge of. Seems only logical. And yet this thread has a healthy number of people complaining about what OShea said in an interview they admit they didn't listen to. Isn't the internet wonderful?
  11. Goodness people...Burris is a great QB who has gotten better with age and all that Hank and Frank nonsense hasn't been a thing since 2006; yes we probably win the 2007 cup with Glenn but it's not as simple as changing 4 plays because that's not how time works so get over it already it's an unprovable argument; and how could anyone who saw what happened in SK ever suggest bringing Chamblin in? Knee-jerk reactions tend to be stupid at the best of times, and this not being the best of times might be why it sets a new bar. And someday in the future Chamblin will get an assistant job again, probably in Hamilton, and do just fine just like Reinbold is doing in Montreal. None of which makes this idea any brighter.
  12. Would that mean that the flag gets thrown and then they decide after the play if it was relevant, or that they decide during the play whether to throw the flag or not? Since the "impact on the play" is usually easy to tell in hindsight, I wouldn't mind the former but would be terrified to give that kind of power of the latter to CFL refs who already manage to muck up the simplest of things.
  13. Sutton on the dock of the bay, watching the lock of the week slip away...
  14. Credit to the Lions/Stamps game for providing both the runner-up and the winner for dumbest coach's challenges of the season, and accomplishing it in the span of 5 minutes.
  15. If you don't mind a 10 minute walk, I've always been able to find a place to park in the residential area north of McMahon. I think it's north. I don't know, I don't live there. The mountains are in front of me and McMahon is on the left. That should equal north.
  16. Popp is frantically calling Hervey as we speak, but is cautious and confused at why this is such a bargain deal.
  17. I saw Laine at the airport. (I was driving down rt90 and looked up and the guy sitting by the window in the plane that was circling to land DEFINITELY was Laine)
  18. Exactly how I feel. If two players grade out equally - something I am not in a position to assess with these two - then 10 times out of 10 I'm taking the player with the rarer skill set. The Jets are in a position to assess them, and I'm guessing they don't have them as a tie.
  19. A troll goes fishing and you silly people bite. C'mon now, this isn't your first rodeo. Look at that sunshine outside. I plan on being in the stadium 30 seconds after they open the gates.
  20. I'm taking Arceneaux unless he doesn't score a touchdown, in which case my pick is Banks. Unless he doesn't score. Then Smith. I feel no need to specify which Smith.
  21. The injury status of players. Status? Statuses? Statii? Yes, I believe they do. It seems like teams have to declare something by the end of their 3rd practise of the week. Probable, doubtful, out etc.
  22. And they'll still scratch four two of these guys prior to game time (duh), so it still might not be Flanders.
  23. They have to declare their roster now. They won't play him if he's not ready, but they won't make that decision until tomorrow. I am curious what they would have done with the 4th DI if he was 100% though. Still Flanders, or...?
  24. Hmm. To take your word for it, or the guy who is clearly talking out of his ass... Decisions, decisions.
  25. Injuries are a part of football. There will be more as the weeks go on. Build depth, next man up.
