Very funny actually.. They have two editions.. Guess first one was such a hit. There are 3 now. I loved the first, and it went big. 2nd was okay. The third one comes complete with a couple of cameo appearances from real players, some of whom mispronounce their own names......good fun. "east west bowl" on youtube My favourite part is after all the Quizzenthrop McDingleberry's get introduced they stick in just one small white receiver - "Dan Smith, BYU". It's the perfect finish.

For sure - the Bomber brass should have known to catch rainwater in buckets and run out onto the street to dump it out. Foolish of them to just "expect" drainage.

When I was at the stadium 2 weeks ago they were adding insulation to the exterior walls of the concourse and covering that with corrugated sheet metal. So if you didn't like the painted cinderblock look from the last 2 seasons, I suppose you might consider this good news.

Can't get a contract in the NFL if you're under contract in the CFL. If he's looking for work down there it'd dumb to sign a contract up here.

Go Sea Eagles!!! (The only game I've ever attended. Didn't understand the rules, didn't really follow what happened, hung out with guys who were mostly strangers, drank a lot of beer in the cheap seats, had a blast. I hope that was helpful.)

If people look past that first overall hype and just take him for what he's worth, he's still good enough to be on a CFL roster. He's going to end up somewhere; I won't complain if it's on our roster. I also won't expect him to start at linebacker.

Could the Jets actually make a Cup Run this year?
mbrg replied to IC Khari's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
My cousin and I managed to get tickets for games 3 and 4 against the Oilers in Minneapolis. Stars swept them in 4 games to win the conference finals before losing to Jagr and Lemeuix in the Cup. Soooooo loud in that arena, and not a single stinking John Denver song was played. 8th place Edmonton took Carolina to a game 7 in the cup finals in 06. Calgary beat the top 3 seeds in the West and took Tampa to a game 7 in the cup finals in 04. Neither won, but anything is possible. There are a few teams that the Jets match up poorly against in our conference, one of them being St Louis. Considering how the Jets played them close to equal last week, maybe they have a better chance against those teams (Anaheim being another) than I'd previously given them credit, enough that they can't be written off. The Jets certainly have better than a puncher's chance. If Perreault returns in time for the playoffs they will have 3 solid lines and 3 very solid defensive pairings, and a 4th line that can be put together using Stempniak, Slater and Hallischuk. And that still leaves Thorburn, Pardy and Peluso as puzzle pieces that can be fitted in. This is now a surprisingly deep team. I'm not going to rain on anyone's parade. This is a team with a legit lineup now. Outside of a Rinne/Price type elite goalie and a name-brand megastar, there is nothing that separates this Jets team from any of the other playoff teams, and in terms of total talent, we are probably ahead of a couple of other teams that will also make the playoffs. -

And the Pavelec contract. Chevy must have been drunk when he negotiated that. I actually have no problem with Pavelec's contract. It might be a year longer then I'd like, but a cap hit of $3.9M is reasonable for a starting goalie, which is what he was when it was signed. And the Jets really had no other options when he was signed. They weren't going to trade for a starting goalie with where they were in their program, and there was still a chance / belief that Pavelec may turn into something more. We've got Pavelec under contract for 2 more years after this one. Hutchinson is signed for 1 more year after this one for 600k (575k cap hit). So it doesn't matter for next year. Even if you can't trade Pavelec over the next year, you can still manage that transition year as Hutch will still be an RFA. I believe because of Hutch's age, you won't be able to give him a bridge deal as I believe he will only have 1 year of RFA left before being a UFA, hence why Pavelec's contract might be one year too long. But, even if you can't dump Pavelec for a bag of pucks, you can still manage the two of them for that one year after Hutch gets a raise. It isn't at all an anchor of a contract like others out there. I still believe it was the right move at the time they signed Pavelec. Within the long term plan the Pavelec contract makes sense. They had two potential starters in the pipeline but still a few years away. Pavelec was essentially the best player on the team at the time, and this team would have been in a bad way without him. Carolina is currently paying over 6 million to Ward and over 2 million to Khudobin this year, combining for around 8.5 million on just their goalies. Using almost any comparison to the other 29 teams, there is nothing about Pavelec's contract or the Jets goalie situation financially that is a problem. Unless you are filled with spite and insist the Jets have to trade Pavelec. While that might become feasible in the next year or two it is a terrible idea now, and not part of the Jets' plans.

The NFL has their version of TCF too. Before camp even starts or the last day of it, it just seems unlikely to me that he survives all the roster cuts he will need to to stick with the Ravens this year. No PR eligibility left, and there will be players of similar quality that the Ravens can sign for cheaper. Unless he had a helluva offseason training, we're probably firing up another Bilukidi thread in about 6 months.

Read that almost immediately after he posted it. The comment section must be spammed with 7000 posts of Rider porn by now. 17to85 will have printed it off and used it to wallpaper his house this weekend. -
The degree to which Chevy is bolstering this lineup surprises me. Not that Stempniak and Tlusty are marquee players, but they can play legit 2nd and 3rd line NHL minutes on their bad days, and on their good days have put up pretty decent numbers. And considering what we gave up to get them? Solid trades, even if both are pending UFA's. Klingberg's future was as the next 3rd/4th liner we complain about once Thorburn is gone, and a 3rd and a 5th for Tlusty? Pretty good trades for the Jets. Landing UFA's without significantly impacting the future - those are exactly the kind of trades every contending GM should be trying to make. I'm glad ours is.

I'd prefer we exclusively sign defensive linemen who want to be harbingers of anarchy.

He has the size and right passport. Could be a worthy project since he just recently started playing oline. Doesn't cost us a draft pick so why not. We need about 15 Olinemen to properly run a training camp; typically 5 imports and 10 NIs. There will almost always be at least one undrafted NI Olineman at camp each year, just because of the numbers involved. Worst case scenario is that he lives up to expectations. Best case, he exceeds them.

Wowsers. Landing anywhere other than BC seems unexpected. I guess after missing out on Glenn, Lefevour was the best option available for the Als.

This thread had very little relevance to it to begin with, it's turned into a more spirited discussion. Spirited discussion? This discussion has been beaten to death over the last two years and you're usually the first to call posters out on that. If Lapo and Mack's names were never mentioned again. It would be too soon. Let's discuss the present not the past. The past shapes the present. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it etc etc. Yea but the only thing we can truly hope that management learns is what not to do going forward.. The one thing we can all agree on is Darren Cameron FAILED to live up to the high journalistic standards set by fellow bloggers and is unworthy of winning a Bloolitzer.

This tells me that the team recently had a player named Jarrell Jackson on the roster. Neat. I'll assume he played a position on the football field somewhere. Live and learn.

So does anyone else here think the Bombers should waive the 3 year waiting period before inducting Pall to the Bombers HOF? If social media has any value at all in this world, it will get on board this campaign.
-
Ottawa entered week one of the season last year without any kickers on their roster. He's just really bad at his job.
-
"likely"? When has there been even a hint that the Bombers are interested in re-signing him.SMH. IDK what SMH means. Silly Meat Hat??? Slight Maturity Hindrance.

This team was down 4 Dmen and handled it fairly well 2 months ago. The loss of Perreault however, that's the tough one to overcome.

Take out any one of the pieces we got in return and I'd have to give that deal a fair bit of thought. Without Armia, for example, I'd give it a mild thumbs down. Of course the money aspect adds another element, but I don't like to view trades from an accountant's point of view. In this instance, the money saved may end up used towards a couple of key players who are pending UFA's and RFA's, so the accountant's point of view has value.

Stafford was completely different than trading for a rental player. Stafford was one of five pieces the Jets acquired in that trade. If they had traded a first or second round pick straight up for Stafford - a traditional trade deadline deal - I would have been strongly opposed to that. Instead of giving up pieces of the future like picks or prospects (Kasdorf had no future here), they acquired two prospects and a pick. What they gave up was two players with fixed term and salary. The reason players like Stafford are called rental players is because teams give up something of value for 3 months of their time, after which they are gone and the team is left with less than what they started. Unless they win the cup. In 3 months time the Jets will still have more than what they started with, even if Stafford doesn't stay. In the mean time he fills holes created by injuries. He isn't a rental player, he is a bonus on top of the other players we'll keep as part of this deal. Rentals are UFA's traded to teams that think they have a chance to win the cup. And the reason that people frown on trading for a rental player isn't because they are UFA's, it's because you trade away a piece of the future to get that UFA. In this particular trade it's pretty easy to show we not only didn't trade away any pieces of the future - Kasdorf and Kane weren't part of the future, Bogosian/Myers is nearly a wash - we acquired 3 pieces for the future. Calling Stafford a rental just because he happens to be a UFA ignores why the term "rental" was applied to those types of trades in the first place.

Can't see any draft picks stepping in this season and starting right away and making a difference. Could easily see a top ranked receiver or defensive lineman stepping in and playing right away. Any players good enough to step in and play right away are the same players that will attract NFL interest. And I doubt any receiver will be good enough that we're switching our ratio and only playing two imports. If he's that good, that just means JFG is back on the sidelines. OK well you're the expert I guess. Thank you. But I'd hardly consider myself an expert. I just took your idea to the next logical step and made 3 points that seem reasonable. Darryl Waud good enough to start right away? Sure, it's possible. And that's why there has already been reports of NFL interest in him. Demski/Durant so good that they start right away? Sure, it's possible. Would that mean the Bombers change their ratio on the offensive side, starting Demski/Kohlert/KFG and two imports? Or would they instead just promote the new guy ahead of JFG and still start three imports? I'd say the latter is much more likely than the former. So the ratio remains unchanged.
