Busy little beaver, that Walters. I'm pretty sure he's a human. Well, we all don't have inside sources with the Bombers! Fine. He could be a human. knowitall

Sure would be nice if I could throw this up again tomorrow: Busy little beaver, that Walters.

Do you see the Bombers making big splashes to make the 2015 G.C. ?

Making a "big splash" for the sake of optics because we are hosting the cup next year? That seems like a pretty terrible idea. I bloody well hope any signings we make are 100% substance based. -
Which Player To Get Stitched On New Bombers Jersey
mbrg replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I've got a Jon Ryan jersey. Guess I should wear it though. So embarrassing - he plays for the Seahawks now. Can you imagine the indignity of having to be associated with the Seahawks? Hey, it's nice to have a team you root for win a championship now and then. Now. Shouldn't they win it more than once before adding "and then"? No idea why I'm trash-talking the seahawks fan. I've got nothing against the c-hox. Long offseason. Have to do something to pass the time. So, how about that time they gave Matt Flynn 10 million dollars... -

If we offer Heenan 250K, we will be establishing the value for him. And then the Riders will re-sign him for that amount. As far as I'm concerned, the higher we drive the price up, the better. They'll re-sign Heenan but they'll have to make hard choices elsewhere.

Insert expression of joy here. Insert tongue-in-cheek comment about how Walters isn't doing anything here.

If it ain't red, I ain't care! (although I like several of Hamilton's import receivers)

That's what he did this past season. No reason to expect him to behave differently this offseason. -
Educated guess or a little more insider knowledge than that? Unlike some I obviously am not the type to take a dump on this organization at every opportunity, but I have seen them completely screw up what should have been some simple and easy signings before.

Congrats on a great season Saskatchewan ...

I sat in Ivor Wynne in 2002 and watched my Bombers dismantle a horrible Ticat team. One of the worst teams I'd ever seen, and they brought that lousy product on the field week after week, for years. The stands were not full, but they were far from empty. Those were fans that can thump their chests in my books. Supporting your team year after year despite absolute dreck, those are good fans. -
Click on the original link provided and press play - you'll still get the entire game. Most of the Bison scoring happens in the first half anyways, they put it in cruise control in the second half. I was at the Bison game in 2007 that sent them thru to the Vanier Cup. Vs McMaster? Western? Might have been 2,500/3000 people there, but if they televised it it would have looked totally empty as people were only allowed on the west side, same side the main camera shoots from. Outside of Laval, the CIS doesn't really draw crowds.

The NFL will find talented players and ****** (edit: okay then autocensor - grab) them up. Toronto finally got Cory Greenwood this year after drafting him in 2010. A guy like Orlando Franklin will probably never wear a CFL uniform unless one is given to him for Christmas. This isn't because he's an Olineman, it's because he's too good to ignore. The CFL is a minor league to the NFL, they will take the best players regardless of position. Like Vaughn Martin. You don't ignore Olinemen in the top of the draft just because they're Olinemen. You simply do your best to assess their talent, including if they might be too good for the CFL. The Altona Maroons probably could have put a claim on Wayne Gretzky's rights in the (whateverleaguetheyplayin) Hockey League if they wanted to. It just is a waste of a move that could be put to better use.

His logic in both Etienne and Poblah was that he wanted to shift our ratio usage to a second receiver**. Poblah was highly regarded and couldn't be considered an "off the board" pick. Mack's logic in selecting him in the supplemental draft was fairly sound. We would have had the 7th overall pick in the 2012 draft. Not that I consider Duane Forde the be-all end-all of the draft, but he knows more than me - the question of whether or not Poblah would have been taken in the top 7 of the 2012 draft was asked of him, and he said he would be off the board by then. And when you consider that drafting Poblah allowed us to use him in 2011, rather than waiting a year to add our 2012 pick to our roster, one could argue that the use of a supplemental pick on Poblah was a savvy move by Mack. Etienne has been discussed to death. Drafted on highly extrapolated potential - did not live up to it. His logic in Pencer was that he wanted a "ratio-breaker". His intention was Westerman, but having missed on that he rolled the dice on a guy he thought they could groom into a tackle. He felt taking the best player available was not worth what they gave up to get that pick. Essentially he shot for the moon. Summary - 4 wasted picks. Very few positive things will ever be said about 2009. My recollection is none ever played a regular season down for the Bombers, but I'm not claiming that as fact. Quinney may have played some special teams downs for Toronto. I don't know because I don't care who plays special teams for Toronto. This is simply not true. Saying it continually does not make it true. It makes it seem like you don't understand what BPA means. **Assuming there will be little argument in ignoring Hargreaves as a receiver.

Seems like last year the same thing was said about the quarterback. We need to draft Olinemen and we need better play from our Oline, but it's myopic to continue to insist in mid-November that 23 weeks from now we have to use the #2 overall pick on an Olineman, regardless of all information or decisions that happen between now and then, or this organization has failed. Stop dealing in absolutes.

Your post makes no sense. How do you get 7 good NI starters if you don't take the best player available (with consideration to availability around the NFL factored in)? Having a bunch of OL who might be ready to play in 2-3 years (right when they become free agents) won't help us. Gotta draft and develop those mid-round guys into being players. How many 1st round picks on Calgary's OL or Saskatchewan's? We desperately need players who can play now regardless of position. That is how the good teams approach the draft. It makes complete sense. Apparently the idea revolves around having 7 NIs start on the Oline...

I think the only teams that want Kane are those who would put Kane on a first line. Everyone else sees his salary and is scared off. Scared to think what putting him on a line with Crosby or Stamkos would do. Kane's a pure finisher. Stamkos would do little with him; Crosby can probably make anyone look awesome. Ideal situation for him is pairing him up with a Backstrom or Ribiero type set-up man, like Neal and Ovechkin have. Scheiffle may become that guy, he has potential to be both an all-round forward or fantastic compliment player, but I'm not sure yet which road he will take. So far it's been the former, but he's young and this line combo is too. While it's a pretty unfair comparison to make the guy I see the most resemblance in Scheiffle is Crosby. His total package skill set and how he positions his body against his opponents, that kind of thing. Of course the difference in talent level can make it hard to see. I'm guessing some will refute this strongly.

WHY AREN'T THE BOMBERS DOING ANYTHING!?!?!? other than this...

Thank you kind sir.

From where I sat any increases in the susceptibility of our pass defence had more to do with a decrease in our ability to generate QB pressure than our secondary being asked to tackle a RB. And now someone will insist that should be on Etch... Whereas I ask why did the pressure decrease? From what I could tell, most of the problem came from a reduction in pressure from our end positions. And now someone will insist that should be on Etch... But why? Is there really a defence in the world that needs to disguise the intentions of the rush ends? The ends are going after the QB on every play with a mindful eye on keeping containment. That is 99% of their job. In the latter half we saw decreased production from Vega and Peach, and their replacements. And now someone will insist that should be on Etch... At some point the players have to make plays. Injuries? No idea how big a role that played, but we were not getting plays made from our end position at the rate needed to make the overall design of the defence effective. And that is on the players.

More about giving a fair and accurate assessment in what happened over joining the torch and pitchfork crew. I don't really care one way or the other about him being here in 2015, but that doesn't mean I'm going to join all the drama queens who insist he should be the whipping boy for 11 losses. Most of those can fairly be hung on the offence and/or special teams breakdowns.

I'm not much for rumours, but just taking this at face value the reason a deal never gets done for Kane is because the Jets essentially want Kane in return - a guy who can put up decent points and has some term left on a reasonably-priced contract. Does either team have a player like that? I dunno. I'll gladly take Tavares. Kane's looked pretty good since returning from injury. He's been fast and physical, effective defensively too. Why is this rumour out there now? Wait until he makes a tongue-in-cheek comment on Twitter that everyone can take waaaaay too seriously. Then start the trade rumours.

That's a cop out answer though. It's not like there are hidden candidates all over the place, there are a limited number of viable options. It's only a cop out answer because you think it is. So you think they should not do their due diligence, and should keep Marcel regardless? Sure lets maintain the status quo. I must have missed the part where this switched from defence to offence. Will scroll up.

That's fine, that's why I was musing about breaking down all 18 games. 16 I guess, there's not much point in looking at the Edmonton and Ottawa games, the entire team crapped the bed in those. But ya, look at each game with the simple idea of what happened and why did ________ get those points on the board? Cause that's all that matters when it comes to wins and losses - the score. Not the rushing statistics. Those matter at contract time. What defence isn't? I'm 50-50 on wanting him back, I'm just trying to be objective rather than emotional in determining his role in our team's wins and losses this year. Some running back put up 120 yards on us that led to 2 field goals in a 60 minute football game. Maybe that wounds the pride but it doesn't amount to the reason a game was won or lost. The main reason I wouldn't want him back is I don't think we can win a championship with this defence. A winning record and a playoff berth? No problem. And Tim Burke found employment 3 minutes after a DC job opened. The comings and goings of coaches in the CFL has never had a logical pattern to it. Is Etchevery the best DC in the league? No, he's unique but not the best. Who is? Whatever name people use to answer that question, it's pretty likely that many of the players on that team are better than the ones on ours. So does Etch's defence look better with better players? Of course it does. And we all knew going into this season that our roster didn't stack up to most others in the league. Over in the Trestman thread, several people are nodding their heads about the obvious statement that better players make coaches look better. For some reason no one wants to admit that this would be true of our coaches. Our coaches are just garbage somehow. Is someone out there better than him? And available? None immediately come to mind. Odds are we're rolling the dice on a total freshman DC, or bring back Kavis Reed or Greg Marshall.
