  1. Yes, of couse he does. But the Bombers don't. Willy getting 1% better has more value to this franchise than Marve getting 10% better. Very deceitful of you to remove the most relevant part of my post. Willy has absolutely nothing to gain from this game, especially if he's already ailing. ? It's right up there for everyone to read, it meanders thru a couple of different thoughts that just weren't relevant to my point. Do you re-read every original post thru all the re-quotes? That's pretty sweet, having that much time to kill. Willy has less to gain, not "absolutely nothing". That is because he is further along in his development. He's not at the end of it. And every gain he makes now will be incredibly important in the future. I don't think there's anything to gain from playing one more meaningless game at the end of the season. He's already played 16 games this year, and is probably looking forward to the off-season. Hmm. Well, that's not what Willy says, but what the hell would he know?
  2. This caught me off guard. But then I thought about it ... and I don't think you're too far off. I don't think we'd have to go that high, but realistically he could ask for a quarter mil per season and get it from multiple teams, so yeah, $900,000 over that term might just be what it takes to make it happen. If money is the only thing that matters to a player, Ottawa will have a tremendous advantage over the rest of the CFL. Even if they don't come to their senses and get rid of Burris. I wouldn't be surprised if Ottawa is almost maxed out salary cap wise. I think Desjardins spends like a drunken sailor. I suppose it's possible, but how many of those guys are worth keeping? They could get rid of their entire receiving corps in the offseason and not see much of a regression. They have a couple of NI Olinemen, the beginnings of a decent Dline, maybe two DBs and a safety worth keeping, Jon Williams would still be on a rookie contract if they chose not to re-up him for more money, DeMarco, a few other odds and sods. They could pretty much light a match to their roster at this point; clearing the books for a spending spree might be the plan. Cause he does try spend like a drunken sailor.

  5. Lawless' point was more along the lines of saying Cheveldayoff should trade for Sidney Crosby, and if he doesn't have 87 in a Jets jersey at the start of next year we can judge him a failure for it.

  7. If anyone thinks that by having Marve start this week, it means anything for next year, they're sorely mistaken. Marve could throw for 400 yards and 5 touchdowns and all it means is that the media will have some ammunition for when they conjure up their articles this offseason about a QB controversy. Willy is still QB1 going into next year, he's earned the reps, he deserves the reps and even if he's dinged up, beaten down and it ends up in a big loss for us, it's still all part of the process we need to be prepared to go through as fans. Because the end result will be a properly developed star QB. Period. You have to be Kidding ? Ryan Dinwiddie says hi. How did things work out for him and us after that Calgary game? One good game does not make a great quarterback. Ryan Dinwiddie was out on a double date with Troy Kopp. They both agreed one good game should be enough to be considered a great quarterback.
  8. Who cares? Should we have built this team around Will Ford? He was a divisional all-star last year. Is anyone trumpeting the achievements of Glenn January? He was a divisional all-star last year. Players don't count as talented unless they're divisional all-stars? You are hurting my brain. Tired of living on hope? No, I'm tired of people pretending the Bombers have somehow ruined their lives.
  9. Well I wouldn't expect to learn too much giving both of these guys time - there won't be enough reps to do that. They will have charted everything Portis has done in practise this year. They'll already have an idea if he's worth keeping around as a number 3 next year. Maybe give him the last series. Brohm is going to be a free agent in February. If I have 15 minutes of football to assess a QB, I'm finding out if Marve can be our number 2 next season, or if we need to pony up and keep Brohm. I suspect they'll want to get him back for camp next year, but if another team shows up with more cash in hand, what should our response be?
  10. Ahemmmmm Would someone at least have the courtesy to say "SPOILER ALERT"?
  11. For me it was the complete/incomplete catch to ... the new guy. Whatever his name is. Almost everyone in the stadium knew it hit the ground. Denmark is screaming at the bench to get a play in. Wait. Wait. Wait. Challenge. Incomplete. Sack on the final play is unfortunate but that was hardly the first time it's happened in the history of football. This was Bellefeuille not being aware of the situation and that pissed me off. Maybe the Bomber staff will claim they preferred to have a normal 2nd and 10 over a rushed 2nd and 5, but I saw no indications of that. Just an OC not paying attention.
  12. Grey Cup ticket prices are always marked up to a premium. I think my seat in 2006 cost around 4x a regular season game.
  13. He might have to hit the treadmill first, he looked well over 3 bills the last time I saw him. He's solidly in the "NFL weight" demographic right now, and unless he commits to a CFL career during the offseason it's unlikely he'd be conditioned enough to pull off a post Labour day walk on. Mulamba on the other hand should have the aerobic conditioning to do a midseason transition from NFL linebacker to CFL DE. But then he went and buggered his knee.
  14. Especially since it's only 24. 25 seasons. So are you including 1990 when we won, or next year? Because including a season that has yet to be played, well you might as well just say it's been infinity since we won. I really don't want to do this. 91 92 93 94 95 96 97 98 99 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 Now if you want to get out some kind of soft tipped device (easy jokes to make if you want) so you don't leave scratches on your screen and count those, it will add up to 24.
  15. De ferk? Literally no clue what your going for here.. Maybe something to do with Robert Baker not coming to Winnipeg from Toronto years ago? I dunno, just a guess. Chad Plummer remorse?
  16. Especially since it's only 24.
  17. This team needs quality Canadians at any position they can get them at. Take the best guy and don't worry about position. A shutdown corner meets the ratio requirements just a well as an Olineman. 7 best starters and 14 best backups we can get our hands on. Replenishing the hoggie pipeline is also a priority. Looking at our rostered NIs Olinemen, there are not a lot of names that make me think they'll be on the team 3 years down the road. We need to plant those seeds right away. Other than watching some playoffs last year I can't even pretend to have ever seen him play, but based on what info is available on the interwebs to us common folk he does seem like he could be a good fit for this team.
  18. You never fail to establish how dumb you are. What? It's a completely valid question, I was wondering the same thing myself. After reading this: I am very understanding of Blitzmore's initial reaction to anything the "DR." types.
  19. Not sure what you want to know about "his status". He's on the 1 game IR cause we can only put 46 players on the 46. We moved a spare part for a spare part at a time when we had a lot of Dline players injured, and probably saved a small amount of cash by doing so. Will he play this week? I'd guess no, but who knows what the staff will want to do with the last 60 minutes of football this year. I suspect winning the game will still be a top priority, in which case putting all the backups in is unlikely.
  20. Are you two dating now? You're just picking up on this? Frankly I'm jealous of the deep emotional connection they have. But more importantly, is Arceneaux playing or not? My fantasy lineup needs answers!!
  21. Of the 12 Olinemen taken in the 2011 draft, only 5 still have jobs in the CFL.
  22. He was ranked in the top 15 prospects by central scouting and was considered a decent steal in the 4th round. HEY NO FACTS! Every other GM in the history of sports has perfect draft picks except dirty mack! If it's any consolation... None of the Olinemen taken after Swiston are still with any team, and a few taken before him are also yesterday's news. Sorry, said I wouldn't do it anymore, all these nasty facts.
