He's the fourth guy. Doesn't actually get any reps with the offence.

Week 16 CFL - Mon. - Tor.@ Mont. (Sask. 15 - Hamilton 30)

I would really enjoy a year without any rule changes. -
I'm not necessarily saying he doesn't know anything about offence, I was just replying to Spuds' assertion that because he had spent his life in football, he knows what constitutes a good offence. And your mention of Burke is a perfect example as a case where that simply isn't true. As tburg might point out, he has to prove he can do it first, not just have excuses why he hasn't.

If you want to review Walkers skills re-watch the Bombers first game against the RB's last season. No doubt that he had the physical talent at that time but as we have seen until recently with Stoudermire sometimes these guys forget how to use it. No Walker has been the same since day one with Hamilton. He's fast. If he has a big hole to run through he's got the speed to exploit it but when the going gets tough he folds faster than superman on laundry day. Speed gets guys 9 lives in sports but if you can't do anything with that speed but run through gaping holes you're not a football player, just a track star. I was not impressed with Walker and wondered why Winnipeg bothered bringing him in. Interesting comment about his speed though. There is something very wrong with Bombers run game and it doesn't matter who the RB is. First, they telegraph every run. So its easy for the D to pick up. Secondly, every run play takes too long to develop. You can count steamboats while the QB is holding the ball out there waiting for the back to take the ball and then silly-walk into Picard's backside or one of the Bombers guards or the waiting arms of an opposing defender. It's been like that for the past couple of seasons. Its almost like there's no communication between the O line and backfield. And of course no play action to give pause to the D and no misdirection. Major fail. Does MOS not see this? I honestly don't think he does see it and wouldn't know how to fix it if he did. MOS was a LB not a QB, unlike head coaches like Hufnagel and Austin. I'm sure he sees the game differently from many of us and I don't think it's a coincidence that our D is light years ahead of our O. Yea cuz if your a defender.. All you retain and have the ability to follow is defense.. *insert eyeroll emotji* Lets be serious here. Hes been involved in football for how long? He isnt an idiot. He sees now his defenses played against offenses and Im sure he realizes what offenses could and would beat defenses.. I'd agree with you if he had shown any kind of aptitude for offence so far. But his throwing of support behind MB for the last two years, and everything that's come with that move, has not really shown that he does know much about offence.

We only just hit 20 K for the first time a few years ago, when we found out we were getting a new stadium. Props to the fans of Winnipeg for sustaining it for the past 5ish years, but it's hardly a guaranteed number.

I'm not sure how a game that we only lost because we continually shot ourselves in the foot proves we aren't as bad as we thought. We think/know we're a bad team because of the fact we consisitently find ways to lose close games. As well as being completely blown out of the rest of them.

Week 15 - Sask @ BC - (Calgary 23 Hamilton 20)

Keeping in mind that those numbers will project to a 1200 yard season. -

It's taken quite a while to get him on that stretcher. Hope he's ok. -
Interesting thought, might actually come down to insurance coverage or the CBA. if he did injure himself playing basketball or building a birdhouse would he be eligible to go on the 6-game?Da'rel Scott ended up on the 6 game IR after hurting his back working out in the weight room. Not the same as building a birdhouse, but not really football related either. I think you could make the argument that working out was football related. It's part of his job.

I seem to remember us fans calling for our Oline coach's head a couple years ago and being stoked when Wylie arrived to replace that bum. There is still a talent deficit for sure. We have one rookie. Picard is largely ineffective. And while he provides the leadership, his snaps are awful and he takes too many penalties for the level of production he is giving. I would gladly accept some flags if he was mauling guys in the run game, but that doesn't seem to be happening. And Neufeld, from what I can see, just gets beat around the edge too much. I seem to notice ends running around him and coming up from behind Nichols.

Oh please just give up that this team can make the playoffs. They are freaking terrible. They are easily the weakest team of four crap teams. You are seriously delusional if you think the riders are a better team then us. With Willy, we're better. Right now I don't think you can make the argument there's much difference between the two teams. I certainly wouldn't call anyone delusional who thinks so.

Maybe Huf will come over to be HC/GM if the Stamps want Dickensom to take over.
-
I would say it's pretty obvious that he'll test free agency, why wouldn't he?
-
At the moment, I agree. I would like to see Nichols against Montreals defence as opposed to Saskatchewans before I completely buy in. Regardless, Nichols is way better than Brohm or Marve.
-
Agreed 100 per cent. If he comes here, he'll be a project. This isn't a bad move though by any means. Personally...I think everybody gave up on Smith too early. Smith was also around 30 when he finally came up here. He had bounced around for a while in the NFL. Boyd only turns 25 this month.

I'm pretty sure he's 6' 0", which is definitely short by NFL standards (most 6'3" guys' scouting reports will say they 'lack ideal height')
-
Sammy Watkins is 6 and he's playing with the bills of the NFL.Sammy Watkins wore #2 at Clemson. You're totally right. #6 is Deandre Hopkins. Also a first round pick in the NFL.

Sammy Watkins is 6 and he's playing with the bills of the NFL. Drafted 4th overall and had nearly 1000 yards as a rookie with among the worst QBing in the NFL.
-
Well, I hope all our DBs can out run our LBs.
-
Well, he's ineligible for rookie of the year so no worries there. Why is he ineligible? Because he dressed for a few games in the NFL.

We absolutely want him in the CFL. With our team or not, he is too talented to waste languishing on some random team's PR.

I think you're going about this somewhat backwards. I doubt the BOD gets involved in that way quite yet. MB will be fired at some point, likely in the off season, but I think MOS starts next season as HC. If next year is another disaster, then he will get canned. Walters, I think, will get another HC to hire, but if that doesn't improve things, then Miller will have to fire Walters and hire a new GM. None of that starts will Miller getting fired. Not unless they catch him spending cash on cheeseburgers and foot massagers for his basement. I have that same feeling UNLESS the next 2-3 games how we consistently demonstrate no compete in our game. Then he's gone for sure imo and Hall is promoted to interim. I certainly wouldn't mind that, although I can't see a situation in which MOS is gone and MB coaches on. Also, I'm starting to notices that the successful teams across the league seem to be run by offensive minded coaches. The last couple of ours have definitely not been even capable of running an offensive meeting and I might hesitate handing the team off to another DC.
-
Our record with Willy at the healm is nothing to be proud of though. We also got blown out in games that he's started. It doesn't excuse MBs offense in any way.
-
So just so I know, how many times will you have to be told that the BoD had NOTHING to do with any of those hires except for Wade Miller? Ultimately, the **** falls on the BOD if the underling hirings don't work out. I'm guessing you haven't been on a lot of boards. I have experience on one here in Calgary. We did hire 3 head football coaches for 3 different community teams under the same organization when I was on that board over 3 years from 2004 thru 2006. I actually helped set up that very board as our first bantam team went from being an expansion team being run exclusively by the league that set it up to a team part of that league but acting independent of it decisions wise. Under the board, our organization grew from one bantam team with 34 kids (ages 13-15) to 2 atom teams (ages 8-10), a pee wee team (ages 11 & 12) & a midget team (ages 15-17) with nearly 200 players. I congratulate you on your involvement in your community. Boards like that need good people who are prepared to roll up their sleeves and get the dirty work done. Having said that, I can assure you that the type of board you sat on is very different from that of the Bombers. I've been on NGO boards, community boards like the one you have served on and corporate boards. The Bombers will function very much like the corporate boards. They'll approve budgets, set overall goals for the corporation, set policies and by-laws, review various aspects of the organization and receive reports from Miller, and if required, from other senior managers. What they won't do is personnel stuff or football operation stuff. Trust me, you do not want a board messing with that stuff. Ever. Thank you. The Blue Bomber board will fire Miller if they don't believe he is doing the job. I imagine if that happened they could do a total housecleaning if need be by firing Walters & MOS. Not beyond the realm of possibility. However, it's all about timing & when (if) it happens. In reality, firing Miller means the team didn't do well so a trickle down effect would take place anyway when a new President is named. I think you're going about this somewhat backwards. I doubt the BOD gets involved in that way quite yet. MB will be fired at some point, likely in the off season, but I think MOS starts next season as HC.
