Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?
jazzsax replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Strevelor for Mayor Strevelor for Mayor! -
If it's serious, there are options. Trade for Masoli. (Ham) Trade for Lulay (BC) Trade for GLenn (Edm) Bait Smilin Hank out of retirement (not a far fetched idea to be honest if he's still in shape. But TSN is probably paying him too much) All are solid options. Question is what we have to give up.

Weird, sorry for the multiple posts!

Regardless of who is in at quarterback, I am still going to cheer my face off July 7th when I'm in town for a visit. Give streveler a ton of reps on Friday, work the trade lines hard if neccessary and see what kind of rehab MN needs if he's out more than 2 weeks. We have a tough D, better than in years, we can build with a solid backup who has potential. Just will need the rest of the team to rally around and everyone pull their weight.

You can tell he's an American used to the American game. Yes he can scramble. I think that will be one of his strengths when he adjusts. He's fast on his feet. But he's got to learn that you can't just intentionally ground the ball or it burns your teams. This isn't the NFL....

Round 3 : Game 1 - Knights of the Roulette Table
jazzsax replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Already gone just like Nashville. -
I'm less pissed about the money and more pissed if I know he's had the playbook. Wouldn't surprise me if Chris Jones and him had an agreement to mess with things. Wouldn't put it past either of them. Club should fight for this one, and take him to court and make him pay legal fees.

Yeah, I started going just before they moved the island bar back... then for a few years after. Definitely always felt safe there, no drama compared to some of the other bars near U of M. Was loads of fun. And had one of the crispest sound systems in the city for quite a while!

Round 2 - Game 7: Jets @ Predators

Good. Hope he cries on a pile of catfish while he watches his team get slaughtered. -
Round 2 - Game 7: Jets @ Predators

3 hours and 11 minutes until the players hit the ice. 3 hours 16 minutes until someone botches the american anthem. 3 hours 21 minutes until the puck drops. 3 hours 30 minutes until we take the lead. 3 hours 35 minutes until I need a refill. -
The good old Get-ladium! Had a great soundsystem for a small room back in the 90's. And nice cheap drinks on the weekends.
-
I think this means Wally might go for it a bit more on 3rd and 1. Reckless for him is pretty much putting ice in his drink.

Round 2 - Game 6: Predators at Jets

And if you're wondering why the above doesn't make sense... If we lose, I want it to be so bloody close and a squeaker we can say "We tried our hardest". Even though I would be dissapointed, I wouldn't go to bed angry. If we win, I want it such a forgone conclusion that I can spend the 2nd period making PK Subban memes. -
Round 2 - Game 6: Predators at Jets
jazzsax replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Regardless of the outcome on Thursday, competitive hockey, and quality playoff hockey is back in Winnipeg. This team has tons to be proud of. But the last thing we want is them having been up 3-2 and then shitting the bed... (like against the Oilers in Jets 1.0). Too many bad memories. If we lose Thursday, I hope it's in Triple OT. If we win Thursday, I hope it's a slaughterhouse so I get a good nights sleep. -
Round 2 - Game 6: Predators at Jets
jazzsax replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Jets came out flat plain and simple. No adjustments, playing from weakness. Nashville came out hitting. Nashville came out agressively going at the puck, trying to force turnovers, forcing the Jets to make mistakes. 4 Power plays, next to no action. Jets did crap all. Quick early fluke goal set the tone, deflated the crowd and team and it was game over. We've seen them come back from worse so we knew we still had a chance in the 3rd, but the team made zero adjustments coming in, 5 minutes into the 3rd we know it was a foregone conclusion. This whole series has been an alternating 1 up 1 down from both teams, except for Game 2 essentially (which should have been the Jets the way they came back). Interesting to see how an extra day of rest will play for both teams. Nashville will be fired up. We need goals early and quick. -
Cool. I'm by the palm tree park across from CTK. We should do beer and wings at the Berwick on an away game!
-
Exactly. Lake Bonavista is almost in socialist territory. LOL 17to85 are you in Cranston? I could throw a beer out my window at you! (I'm in Cranston as well!!!!). I know there was a bomber fan that lived about a block from me... had tons of bomber logos up on their house right across from the Catholic school....

Not sure I agree Speed, but then again I live in the deep south of the city where we love our beer, love our guns, love our sports, and and don't give a **** about Nenshi and the asshats at city hall. All the complainers must live north of Glenmore and south of 32nd. LOL
-
I doubt that's why they don't want to have it. Reality with fan forums in every city is you only get the die hards. Die hards don't sell tickets, a good football team and mass engagement do. I live in Calgary. I see just as many stamps logos on cars as I do flames logos. People here love their team. They hate the choking, but eventually they know the stamps will take home a GC. The bigger issue in my opinion is weather. The stadium is wide open... in bad or cold weather it really SUCKS sitting in that stadium. No much covering from wind. Or rain. Or snow. Or rider fans. Those asshats are everywhere. One thing I liked about the Stamps is how they run the Red and White club. Every member has assigned reps that come to the tables and ask for feedback every game. They engage and find out how the members business is doing, what they can do to increase engagement / involvement, referrals, etc. The argos can learn alot from other teams. I was living in Toronto from 2005 to 2011... the first few years fan support was great. In game entertainment was great, the team made an effort engage with fans, get them on the field after and create a "family" atmosphere. Something changed after 2007 when the 100th cup hangover was over and then it went downhill from there.
-
Here's my thought. Offense is improved. If the offense can do it's job... and score a ****-ton of points... and keep our D off the field as much as possible, that will help cover us some of our gaps. In turn, it will give the D confidence, If our D doesn't get support from the O, and gives up a ton of points... well... them there's the season.
-
Ask a woman.... is it really a difference between 6 and 8 inches? (She'll say 6, he'll say 8!) LOL
-
Good and bad move. Good - shows leadership to the team that we aren't just throwing money at random dudes to be the top paid canadian when they haven't really shown they want to be here... Bad - We could have used him. LOL Oh well, we will see him when we play Montreal.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers unveil 2018 schedule
jazzsax replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Love the schedule. And love that we don't finish the year in Calgary like pretty much every other year. -
CFL coaching record[edit] Team Year Regular season Postseason Won Lost Ties Win % Finish Won Lost Result WPG 2014 7 11 0 .389 5th in West Division - - Missed playoffs WPG 2015 5 13 0 .278 4th in West Division - - Missed playoffs WPG 2016 11 7 0 .611 3rd in West Division 0 1 Lost in Division Semi-Finals WPG 2017 12 6 0 .667 2nd in West Division 0 1 Lost in Division Semi-Finals Total 35 37 0 .486 0 Division Championships 0 2 0 Grey Cups His first two years sucked, but we can argue he didn't have solid players to work with and was green. 23 and 13 last two years is pretty solid. I will take that in a heartbeat. We were 3 close games away from hosting the west final. Give him the benefit of the doubt.
