  1. Bede isn't a Canadian citizen - he's from France. Still, considered a Natl. no? I believe the old rules more or less let anyone from another country who didn't play football in the US be a non-import (ie an Aussie rugby player looked at as a punter would have been a NI on the old rules) New rules state " Nationals are defined as a person who was a Canadian citizen when he signed his first contract, classified as a non-import before May 31, 2014, or has lived in Canada for five years before turning 18" So under the old rules I believe bede would have been a NI, with the new rules he's an international Really strange, because Bede played college at Laval. Yet both Waggoner and Westerman qualify as Natls. through loopholes. wouldn't call it a loophole, it's just the new rules. Waggoner has Canadian citizenship, so he's a National. Bede doesn't so he's an international. Although I get what you're saying in regards to Waggoner played all his football in the US and Bede played university in Canada.

  3. still early, but so far glad I took Montreal in the pickems
  4. This weeks pick ems are great. 3 games are basically 17 people vs 16 people, so basically 50/50. Then the other game is 32 for Edmonton and Duressler47(I assume) as the only person picking Sask
  5. I could be wrong on this as I'm far from a football genius, but from what I've seen if we're up against a stronger D line where we aren't opening up as many holes I'd prefer to see the run game focus on Marshall and pounding for yardage. Against a weaker D line or a game where our O line is opening up some holes I'd prefer to see it tend more towards Cotton who is more likely to make a linebacker or DB miss one or one after getting through the line. Basically call the plays based on what we're being given on the field and making adjustments to it, which isn't really a very Blue Bombers thing to do.
  6. Typo, he meant Brink not brick. He got far too excited thinking about Brink and Elliott coming back he missed a few words that would have provided the necessary clarity on our future Brink/Elliott QB combo
  7. I know the intent of this wasn't necessarily to say Marve isn't suited to start games, but I think it's a bit early to say to split the back up role up when Marve has never had any opportunity to start a game or be the true backup But then again I'm in the play Marve camp more because I don't want to see Brohm on the field in any situation. I can't see how he could be worse than Brohm, so even if we know Willy is out and have a full week of prep, I'd rather see them go with Marve and see how it plays out.
  8. this should be worth warning points from the admins
  9. Poblah at QB? Marve is apparently not 100% healthy both last week and this week for what that's worth.
  10. Did not expect it to work out when I went with Ottawa in the pick ems. Kicker better come through here.
  11. if anyone needs last minute tickets I've gotten sick and don't think I'll be going, have a pair of tickets near midfield about 15 rows into the upper deck
  12. For those of you going what section are you in? I'll be in G2.
  13. I think people around here would ***** about absolutely any coach we hired. What surprised me going to Calgary for the game Saturday was how many stamps fans I heard bitching about Dickenson.
  14. Just got home from the game my thoughts on what I saw Bo Levi reminded me of years of bomber qb's, not a good game for him Seemed like the deep ball worked the two times it was attempted, but looked like Calgary had enough pressure that we couldn't go back to it much rough game for lirim stoudemire looked rusty, hands weren't good, and too much east/west/south not enough north game was there for the taking and the team couldn't execute when they needed to Good experience with the stamps fans, much better than attending bomber/rider games where rider fans are dicks. As well able to bond with stamps fans over mutual dislike of rider fans
  15. normally I don't comment on the reviews and the challenging PI, and as much as I hate the riders, that was a painful call, and painful that review held up
  16. I'm thinking of driving down to Calgary tomorrow to watch this game, just trying to find someone I can convince on short notice to go for a road trip. I'm already planning on Bomber games in Edmonton/Vancouver/Ottawa this year and a stamps game in Toronto the day after the ottawa game ($40 train ride ottawa to toronto). So thinking why not add Calgary to the mix as well. Last time I went to a bomber game in Calgary it was a 38-11 loss, so hopefully this will be better than that was.
  17. I'll be in section G2 for the game.
  18. If you have the game PVR'd, depending on how far over you record, go watch sportscentre after the game. They had the score up correctly, but had the records of both teams showing as if the riders had won.
  19. if he misses the kick will there be manure on his lawn?
  20. I bet that's why Neil Lumsden is doing the Amazing Race Canada with his daughter, Jesse is probably too big of an injury risk.
  21. just a heads up for week 3 the options show Calgary at Toronto when it should be Toronto at Calgary.
  22. I actually find coming on the forums during lousy seasons makes it more tolerable. Even watching the chat during games, the amount of bitching, whining and just terrible attitudes usually makes me feel like bomber fans don't deserve a win, even if it's the same handful of people every week, they do a great job of making me not care that the bombers lost.
  23. I can't speak for anyone else, but the reason I want to see Marve start is I want to see what he can do, not because I'm sold on him. I got to spend a bit of time in training camp last year, and from watching him throw wanted to see him get some meaningful time last year which he didn't. That's carried over to this year, still curious about his ability. On the other hand, getting to see Brohm play hasn't sold me on him. So I'd prefer to see Marve get a chance. So people wanting to see Marve play I think has as much or more to do with not wanting to see Brohm on the field as it does with being sold on Marve as a better option.
  24. So through 1.5 weeks I have determined the best strategy would be for me to make my picks, and then reverse all of them.
  25. Considering the outrage of Jets fans blaming the Bombers on the cancellation of the Heritage Classic, and all the negativity surrounding the stadium, that's pretty impressive. ???I never heard about any of this? The Bombers cancelled the Heritage Classic? Personally I think it's stupid to call something a "classic" before it's even been played, and I also think that paying $300 for the privilege of sitting in a stsdium in -40C to watch a bunch of millionaires skating around at half speed is just stupid. It wasn't that it was cancelled, the parties involved couldn't agree on a date. I believe the bombers didn't want to give them a date in December because of the proximity to the Grey Cup and worries about people spending their money to go to the hockey game instead of the Grey cup. The NHL and the Jets didn't want a Jan/Feb date because of temperature concerns. That's the basics of the situation as I recall.
