  1. Oh btw couple Bomber hot takes: 1. The Nichols detractors (or detractor) are silenced because he is an all throws QB who was hitting several big ones including that beautiful Adams deep ball and the pump fake TD pass to Woltairesky. Not a game manager, and please ... Stop obsessing when he has sub 300 or 200 numbers. It's called the Harris factor. 2. Hopefully Lapolice took notes about the effectiveness of the motions and play action passes. He certainly showed again why he has been a respected OC, but let's hope he doesn't get in his own way again like he did late last season and in the WF.
  2. Maybe, but highly debatable IMO. I feel BC has em beat in several areas QB - I get that Reilly may not be the QB he was back in 2014 and 2015, and I even thought he declined a bit over the course of last year. But I'd still take him over Harris at this point. RB - I'll give it to Edmonton based on what I saw from Gable on Friday night, and he looked pretty good. WRs - I gotta give it to BC here with Carter, Burnham, Johnson and co over Stafford, Collins and Ellingson. Stafford was the only one I was impressed with, I mean Collins had some catches but he also put the ball on the ground, and Ellingson was mostly invisible. OL - I don't know, tossup, though EDM did do pretty well without Travis Bond, and when he gets back they'll only get better so maybe a slight edge there Defense: I think I gotta give it to BC even if the numbers didn't quite show it. The offensive talent they were going up against with our team certainly was better than MTL's. And as one poster said, Claybrooks is bound to get it better. Maybe not as good as what he did in CGY the last couple years, but certainly better I think. As a Bomber fan, I can't complain when the cards thus far seem to be stacking our way.
  3. Also wonder why week 2 has only 3 games and not 4?
  4. Blame the CBC Television Network for all of that lol
  5. Well if they didn't, someone should. I think Harker gets a few shots here these next few weeks, but he should be looking over his shoulder.
  6. Even though Ottawa won yesterday, I don't buy them at number 3. I'd bump em down to 5
  7. I certainly am not a believer in them or at least not at the moment. But I certainly wonder where Davis all the sudden got enough confidence to pull the trigger. I mean interceptions aside at least those are risks he's taking. I just never saw him play with that aggressive mentality when he was here.
  8. Well I'll tell you, obviously every week the Bombers win is a great one, and this one was no exception. Maybe more so because we're 1-0 and SSK and CGY are both 0-1. And looking at what's happened ... 1. We're going to find out what this Harker kid in SSK is made of and if SSK's defense can help him out. Too early to say but ... I don't think he's a Chris Streveler 2. Only one game this weekend was decided by more than 7 points, and that was ours, but even that one really was a hard fought close one. My memory could be getting short here, but I don't remember the last time I saw these kind of close scores in every game of a CFL Week. Lotta excitement for sure. 3. It might be early, but I'm going to come out and say it. The once dominant CGY will NOT ... I repeat WILL NOT reach the magic number of 13. They've not had fewer than 13 wins if you look it up since 2012, a year that they also finished below first. They will this year though, and that will be enough for us to knock em off. Now I'm not saying they're going to have a bad or losing year, but the numbers show that when they win fewer than 13, they lose the West, and after yesterday, that ain't no 13 win team I guarantee it. They haven't lost a home opener since 2011 either when they had their fewest wins of the last decade at 11 and lowest finish at 3rd in the West. Crazy this year does in many ways feel like 2011, I mean not because our team is anything like what it was then because it's not at all. But because of the parity in this league. That year was one of those years where the line between the good teams and the bad ones was so thin you would have the bad teams upsetting the good ones at any given time. Given how close these games have been, and given that we don't fully know exactly what we got in some of these teams, this definitely feels like 2011 with a West division that's once again very open, and no team not even Hamilton really differentiating themselves out East.
  9. After last night ... Wow, Im trying not to get too overconfident, but after seeing Calgary lose and us win on the road against a supposed to be very good BC team, it definitely does feel like our year. I think we definitely can contingent on a few things: 1. Can Darvin Adams stay healthy or at least mostly healthy and be here when we need him in the big games? 2. Will the good Lapolice show up like he did last night more so than the bad Lapolice we saw in the West Final? 3. Special teams kick coverage was a little concerning, let's hope O'Shea cleans that up
  10. Well, I'm guessing Ottawa threw a wrench in the way of everyone being undefeated in pickems
  11. When you lose to a team as bad as Ottawa, you definitely have gone bad ... Well to a certain extent. I mean, as we've been saying, certainly we expected Calgary's defense not to be the dominant force they have been the last three years in particular. But I certainly expected much better against the rotten RedBlacks. But I say now, this leaves us with no excuse not to steal the bacon for first out here cuz they definitely are not running away with the West this time.
  12. Which is why I and most others have said the race for the West is very much open between 3 teams this year, and why we think the Bombers can and should be expected to win it along with the Grey Cup. I expect CGY's losses on defense to show as their level of competition picks up and they play against teams like us with good QBing (despite what one poster says about Nichols) and playmakers. Ottawa has neither, and their garbage offense roster with pretty much no talent outside of Sinopli pretty much neutralizes CGY's losses tonight. Bottom line is the Stampeders winning big tonight says much less about them and how good they are than it does about how far Ottawa has fallen. I predict a full regime change comes there at the end of this season.
  13. Or if Calgary just inexplicably shoots themselves in the foot like Edmonton did last night and Bo Levi misfires passes he would normally hit. A scenario that's certainly not impossible or unprecedented, but highly unlikely imo.
  14. I just don't think the RedBlacks have the playmakers on the offense to really matter who's playing QB. And I think the pressure on Jennings to get the job done is much higher than it is on Adams, and in Calgary's fire house, that's got disaster written all over it.
  15. I certainly expect Calgary's defense to be noticeably more vulnerable when they play against their level of competition which would be us and BC. But against the RedBlacks ... I don't think so.
  16. If he can't even beat out Dominique Davis for a starting job, how the hell is he going to make this game close?
  17. Dude this is not the same old RedBlacks team we been seeing over the past few years. You replace stud starters like T Harris, Ellingson, Powell and Spencer with D. Davis, Jennings, Lankford and Holley ... They're going to get killed and we all know it.
  18. Just in case anyone is watching, although it is right before ours too so, the bad and the ugly will be on TV right before the good and the best play. Anyway, for all the Montreal bashers downing on a team who at least made last night's game entertaining (for me anyways), no you'll see what an actual dumpster fire looks like today. The RedBlacks are just that. I could be wrong, but I'm going to say this game will pretty much be in the books by halftime.
  19. This is the one factor that may prevent Montreal from becoming more of the competitive team that Khari was talking about. Mike Sherman's guy Bob Slowik got brought in, and as a Packer fan I can tell you he brought in some of the worst defenses I ever saw. He won't last more than one season in this league I'll tell you.
  20. You mean until Ottawa plays today
  21. So then I guess last night was two utter dumpster fire teams duking it out then? I mean, IMO, all the QBs playing tonight looked more sharp than Masoli
  22. That's what the mute button and radio is for lol
  23. Very good game, Montreal did look quite a bit better than the sad sack team they've been for the better part of the last few years. But so far, 2-2 in the pickem. I would get rid of Slocum though. He's definitely worse than Stubler.
  24. Well, Harris has looked pretty good so far. Collins Jr and their punt returner gifted MTL opportunity.
  25. Lol, well screw Black, but kudos to Khari for his locker room message cuz so far his team is competing up 7-2. Can they keep it up is the question.
