While I certainly thought Lapolice should have used Streveler in that one redzone series in the 4th, the offense overall was still way better than what we had been seeing. I put the biggest blame on Hall for going back to his dumb prevent defense and choking away a 15-point cushion. Only he could do that and stop bringing pressure.

Still awful with a smoke and mirrors show in Edmonton

Big win and we can cheer for the Esks to pull it out on Monday because the door is now open for us to take second from Saskatchewan. Winner tonight: Lapolice bringing the offense back to 2017 level making sure Nichols pulled the trigger quickly. Loser: Richie Hall going back to full on suck mode and needing the Ottawa offensive lineman and Sinopli to bail his butt out.

Gotta hand it to Lapolice, he's getting back to the quick out and play action game which is what works for Nichols. This is what the offense should be running every week. Unfortunately, Richie Hall looks like he's becoming a sucko again which is why Bomber fans don't trust him. He puts together a great game like he did against Edmonton and then goes full stink as soon as the offense starts clicking.

Riders @ Als: can the birds muster an upset?
USABomberfan replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm going to cheer for Edmonton on Monday because if the Riders lose that one, they could still get knocked to 4th. We then beat them, and I think the Stampeders will be out to murder them in 2 weeks. -
I will say too if we can pull this off, it'll make the Edm-Ssk game on Monday a win-win situation. If the Esks win (which I hope), we can still knock the melonheads out of 2nd place and take it. But if they win, it'll put us up a game on the Esks. But anyway, not to worry about that yet until we've taken care of business in TD Place.

I'm actually not bothered at all by our defense being the catalyst for winning in place of the offense because I've felt if they would have stepped up in the playoffs the last two years, we might have won or at least gone to the Grey Cup instead of finishing one and done. We gotta keep the brick wall in that side of the ball up and thwart the oncoming attacks. I'd like to see our DL continue to go on a tear and get pressure up in T Harris's face. Make sure he's errant in trying to get the ball to Sinopli, Ellingson and Spencer. On the offensive side of the ball, Lapolice needs to call more play action mixed with quick out passes on first down to get Matt in rhythm.

I don't really read the same things into practice rosters that I do active rosters.

Well O'Shea does have his hands in it too as I've often heard in the open mic games him calling up to Richie telling him to either blitz more or switch this or that. Course in the Edmonton, I have a feeling they must have anticipated Reilly would continue with the same formula he'd been using for years against us and decided to align the defense based on that. Plus perhaps some of those receivers were a bit shocked our defenders went after the ball on forced fumble plays as much as they did. I expect a bit of a different game plan from the Redblacks, but we should hold them to below 45 this time.

This is one I'm very curious to see how things turn out with. After going into Edmonton and actually blowing them out for once, team has to be pretty confident coming into this game. Big question will be will Richie Hall bring the new improved defense into TD Place after being made a mockery of in IGF about a month ago? And will Lapolice and Nichols keep the offense on track while perhaps also creating some big plays? Big things on the horizon during Canada's Turkey Day weekend starting at TD Place Friday night.

Not a lot of faith in our squad even though we just cut Edmonton a new one last night? -

Smh, Montreal you disappoint me letting this fake Riders team win. -

Well I mean if Manziel starts yes, but if Montreal is smart, they'll put Pipkin back in. He gives them the best chance to win. -
Please go back and start Pipkin tomorrow MTL. And please may Collaros suck and give MTL a freebie. It must be possible. If SSK loses this game, we can still shoot ahead of them for 2nd especially if we beat em in 2 weeks and they go full on tank mode.

So can we start talking about firing MOS yet?
USABomberfan replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well, I think O'Shea's skeptics have to be willing to give him props including myself. I did not think we were going to go on the road and dominate the Esks like we did tonight. Only three points for Reilly's offense? I don't think anyone saw that coming. I know, I know, we still got a few more tough games left against SSK, Ottawa and CGY and we still have to win a playoff game or two to get to the GC. But if we got real momentum coming out of this game, that's certainly possible. -

I can understand this thinking, but let's remember something. Berry was here a mere three years, and had just come off a close Grey Cup loss during which he had to go with a backup QB who did virtually nothing else throughout his entire CFL career. And the key was he built some momentum at the end of 2008 and reached the playoffs but just couldn't quite close the deal. And he also didn't hire a big old dud as his defensive coordinator. Mike O'Shea has been here 5 years already and while it's good that some patience is warranted, some way somehow it's gotta start making these playoff runs count. And that is assuming we get to the playoffs which right now we're on the outside looking in and needing help from BC's opponents. -

I say MOS must at least get to the playoffs to keep his job minimum. But I think once the offseason hits upper management needs to force him to hire a new defensive coordinator and open up the QB competition next preseason between Nichols and Streveler.
