Thus far it appears the Als are about to get Strevelered again.

Matthews starting, but as things start getting out of hand I fully expect him to get yanked.

Well, with the Argos sitting in last place in the East and pretty likely without Ricky Ray seeing the field anymore in a boatmen uniform, the biggest acquisition they made this offseason will now be put to the test. Going up against the team that developed him, James Franklin will be asked to bring Toronto their first win of the season. Can he do it?
-
I just sure hope they didn't rush him back simply because Streveler didn't do as well this last game. As much as I want to win games, I still hate seeing the plug get pulled on the rookie's learning experience.

Well, Montreal's in a pretty desperate situation QB wise right now that even if they have to pick up the league's Jason Boltus's to fill the bag, that's what they'll do. Like I said, it's complete 2013 Bomber territory for them right now.

Matthews was given some pretty good looks, including by (Need I Remind You) Marc Trestman. I certainly trust his judgement much more than yours on QBs, and that he elected not to keep Matthews is pretty telling.

2014 Willy probably, but this is not 2014 anymore. Sorry but any QB who is that trigger shy and takes as many sacks as he does is just not fit to be a starter anymore. He's at 2013 Buck Pierce territory now and his CFL days are limited. As I've said repeatedly, Matthews is not going to be their guy either, but at least he's not a deer in the headlights guy. I liken him to Joey Elliott. Not consistent but certainly will take risks.
-
Yeah Willy is way beyond done and moving to the next in line should have been done already. Jeff Matthews is pretty bad though and while I expect he'll start this next game, he won't be doing that for long. I suspect they may be just getting Adams a little more time to get the playbook learned or what not. At some point you gotta figure he'll be seeing the field.

Agreed, a guy like Reilly certainly will try and buy that extra time to go chucking it deeper downfield where as Masoli will be content to live off of short and intermediary slant/seam routes all day. I don't think that has to necessarily be the case. Seems like the narrative I constantly hear is that MOS doesn't entirely like the bend but don't break defense, but he likes turnover generating. Also seems like he always gets in a dilemma about Hall's future and then ends up just letting him stick around. The way that's kept up, us fans don't want to have to deal with his hesitation on the matter anymore and if Miller, Walters and the BOD put their hands on the scales, Hall's exit will be assured. I don't think O'Shea had to be fired if that happens. He just must be told to go get an instant upgrade non-BBDB defensive coordinator.

I think we all understand that we don't want to go back to the old dark days of upper management micromanaging the product on the field. It's more that we can tell who on this coaching staff is not cutting it, and it seems O'Shea is too reluctant to cut them loose. I would only fire MOS for not firing someone on his staff as a last resort, but I see the middle ground in upper management putting the heat on him to do it as completely reasonable. If he feels the heat, he just might do it and save his own firing.

Not even remotely close to what my post was about.

Yeah, if anything Walters should be vindicated because he's giving the team talent and Hall is wasting it on the defensive side. I do agree that at this point the expectations should be higher now than simply making the playoffs and this team should start calling anything short of a Grey Cup win a failure. But I would hold onto Walters and O'Shea a little longer so long they don't come up with any more half-baked excuse to not fire our awful DC.

Do The Lions Eat Us Up Saturday Night?
USABomberfan replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's one of those games I feel we can win, but I'm also feeling like the pressure is on our offense to keep carrying the load because Richie Hall is such a dumbass on the other side. He completely relies on other QBs getting greedy and forcing throws which certainly can happen with Jennings. But if he's not calling press man coverage and Jennings is content to take dump off throws, it's going to be a long night. -
It's a crazy thing but the Tabbies had better be careful here. It's a taboo thing but I could see the Riders stealing one from them if they aren't careful or get complacent. Obviously SSK seemed to have taken the week off of practice and learned nothing from losing to Ottawa. They must have looked at our 56-10 score and assumed MTL had given up on the season already and would just come in lying down. It's early in the season yet when crazy things happen and obviously with the bad publicity that MTL loss put on their city n team they'll be looking to get a win to fix it. And Masoli is not that great either and he's definitely going to have that 300 yard passing game streak stop and have bad ones coming up.
