TO @ SSK - East Final Rematch + QB Mystery Afoot

Looks like he's about to head to Drew Willy territory and wind up in MTL. Only place I can think of where Collaros would be wanted. -

Also, looks like the QB mystery may not be such a mystery. Collaros got injured I know, but looks like he was actually doing worse than BB when he was in. I'm betting he just lost his starting job to him. -
Gotta love seeing Ottawa give those guys a big old beatdown. I'm just curious as to how serious Collaros's injury was. Course he was actually doing worse than Bridge when he was in and may have just lost his starting job to him.

Good news is we get 3 cracks at em so we could drop one and still take the other 2. -
The offense (and even less so Nichols) are not to blame for that. It's mostly Richie Hall's defense causing that with another chunk of the blame going to O'Shea's questionable special teams gambles in those playoff games. But then again I'm betting you knew that already. We're all entitled to our opinions on Nichols, but I guarantee he's going nowhere right now. Now on the last point, we all agree we're excited about Streveler. He's the finest rookie QB we've seen in a long time. But it's still Nichols team because to go deep in the playoffs and reach the cup, gotta go with the guy who's got the experience. But again back to point one, switching out the QB isn't going to fix the defense which is what we'll need playing at a high level come crunch time.

He didn't actually suggest Masoli should come here, he was venturing to guess who would grab him up should he be parted. I'd say he can go straight to Montreal or BC (if Jennings stinks up again). This would probably never have been said even just a year ago, but Masoli would be a downgrade likely on all our current QBs except for maybe Ross.
-
Well, obviously Montreal needs all the help they can get.
-
That just shows the ridiculous level it's come to now because back in the old days you would be walking out the stadium in handcuffs.
-
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Streveler will most likely face a stiffer defense than an Edmonton unit missing some of their secondary, but I'd see little reason to think Molson will be pulling in a big crowd. I haven't heard that place get loud in a while, and it likely won't until they get their next Calvillo. Their owners and front office staff have been ruining that team and most Montrealers are now tuning out that crap and no longer buying season tickets.
-
The thing is though every chunk of yardage he picks up in between the 30s he always squanders with sacks and picks. I mean, it's crazy he had almost 300 yards passing against BC but only 10 points to show for it. So unless he turns those yards into TDs, they're useless. I still say he's on a short rope and the Matt Schiltz or Jeff Matthews era will be starting in Montreal very soon.
-
Time to rebound after the loss and with guys like Leggett, Lefrance, and Wild coming off the 1-game we're going to be in even better shape for this game. Streveler was great in game 1 and I am now eager to see him run out onto the field and get it done in week 2. I also think our defense is going to have a better showing this game knowing Willy and his holding onto the ball too long habit. I know BC's defensive line is probably better than ours, but Willy was giving them sacks on a silver platter all game and he's likely going to give us some too in this game. Not at all elusive like Reilly. I'm going to bet that if the Als offense sputters like it did in the second quarter and beyond against BC that we'll be seeing the Als march out Matt Schiltz or Jeff Matthews during this game.
-
Well, to be fair they were honestly out of the bidding war for Franklin with no chips to offer on the trade table. Collaros possibly, but when he's seen as damaged goods they might not be willing to risk that he might be more broken than Willy. I will say though this is why I'm glad Lapolice turned down the HC job there or who knows but Streveler just might be an Al right now. I do think though that Willy's rope just got a lot shorter with that 2nd half and Schiltz will be coming in sooner rather than later.
-
Well, Als offense has gone cold. Should they pull Willy and stick in Schilz?
-
Big question is whether or not Willy will hit any more of those deep balls in the 2nd half.
-
Wow, Mike Sherman beating Buono in his CFL debut.
-
Of course they'll probably look like world beaters next week against Montreal, but once we face the good offenses again that will disappear.

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?
USABomberfan replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well, if Franklin's first meaningful action numbers mean anything, Streveler is actually beating him in that regard. And Franklin was an understudy QB for several games before he came in and was also in an NFL camp. Streveler has had to do a lot more than he did in much shorter of a time. -
Reilly is tough to bring down and we all know this. What's driving everyone crazy is we've never changed a damn thing in the way we've game planned against their offense and he knows what Richie Hall is throwing at him. He knows when he's going to get one on one coverage outside, soft zone, etc. If you don't change things up and keep running the same thing over and over, you'll get beat by the good QBs every time. Claybrooks keeps causing havoc on opposing offenses because he's always changing things up all the time and bringing unpredictability. That's why he is elite and Hall is a dud who gets figured out by a every good offensive coordinator and QB.
-
I'm pretty sure we all know the answer to that one.

I didn't see a whole lot of inaccurate passes save when his OL was looking shoddy. He did look a little slow at times, but you should know by now he's not really a mobile QB and he usually throws the floater balls better than the bullet passes. I did say after they won the cup that that was probably a good time for Ricky Ray to retire and retire standing up. But since he decided to return and is at this moment the most decorated QB of the 2000s Calvillo era still playing football, he'll be playing every game this season that he's not injured in. I am thinking though that one more significant injury and he will call it quits for good. -

Problem is their OL is giving him nothing to work with. Only run plays working so far are jet sweeps with Martis Jackson. -

Man oh man oh man. No disrespect to Trestman or Brady but play calling here has not been one of their better masterpieces. Although that OL is definitely making it brutal and Ray just has never been a mobile QB. Still, any more big hits or teeing off on him and Franklin will probably be operating the controls before this is over. -

Not looking good either for Heath or the Argos offense. -

Yup, man the Argos O-line went AWOL
