  1. Heath and Marcus Brady or whoever is using Bellefeuille's playbook for the Argos. Man I'll tell you they'd better get that fixed or Ricky Ray will be retiring sooner than they think with the Franklin era beginning.
  2. Seemed to me like he wasn't really being serious as much as trying to be a little funny, though perhaps he just wished Streve and Wolt would've done just a lil more when they were at UMinn.
  3. A QB tandem system .... Could be a return of the old days here.
  4. I should have done a change vote option so those 5 "no" votes don't feel too embarrassed.
  5. Not sure I'd bank on that with Bear Woods out.
  6. Well, game 2 of week one is now going to be played, and looks like it'll be a good one. Argos are playing without a few starters on D, and the big ? in Regina is who gets the nod behind center. Signs seem to be pointing towards Collaros, but there may actually be some playing time being split between him and Bridge. Could get interesting.
  7. True, but Walters still would have to make the final call on that I imagine. So give credit to him for listening. Still, perhaps now a few posters like 17to85 will stop bagging on Lapo since he did that.
  8. No I can tell so much from 4 seasons he's been here costing us playoff wins.
  9. I'd say this just may be Walters's biggest find as GM yet. First fresh out of college rookie to start in the league since Anthony Calvillo and I'd be willing to bet he did even better than AC did in his baptism of fire game.
  10. I knew it was a mistake not to fire Richie Hall this offseason.
  11. All in all, I thought that was a good showing for Streveler and we gotta stick with him. Sure he threw two picks and was just over 50% in completions, but considering he's a raw rookie who's barely had time to learn the playbook and has not had the benefit of learning for a year behind a veteran, I was very impressed with him. Bumps and bruises with a rookie QB must be expected, but he's got resiliency through and through, and once he gets experience I believe he really could tear this league up. Yes I do think we got Franklin MacManus here.
  12. Well ... Not great but it's hard to complain about Streveler when he's a pure rookie starting on opening day and the first ever to do it in the CFL since Calvillo. And his TD pass was a beautiful dart. I will say though that Ryan Lankford has got my ire up again and I really hope he gets shipped out before long. And Bighill does make Hall's defense marginally better, but I still say if we're going to stop the CFL's elite offenses at some point, we're going to need a new DC.
  13. A pure rookie QB starting for us game one. Hasn't happened in a long time and it's going to be the highlight of the game. Danny Mac ... Lookout.
  14. I like the move to start Streveler, no sense in wasting time on Ross when his ceiling is too low and he has no 20-yard gun. Get Streve in there and let him run this offense all the way.
  15. Depends on if not turning the ball over means a boatload of 2 and outs.
  16. I think we're looking a little more at it as a week by week thing. Assuming Ross does go in the opener which seems to be what will happen, he'll get a majority of the reps. But over the course of several weeks, he'd better be able to pass for multiple TDs or he should be benched without question. As I've said, I don't like risk averse QBs, and i don't care if Bennett's deep ball looked ugly, at least he gun slinged it out there. Ross has been doing little by way of giving any of our jump ball guys a chance to get downfield and make a big play on it. Bennett and Streveler can bring out that element in Lapo's offense.
  17. I would have probably looked at his not benching Hurl when he was here as a worse sin because he was way more consistently bad than Willy IMO. In Willy's case, you at least had an argument that perhaps he still had it in him to learn Lapo's offense and finally jumpstart something because back in 2014 and 15 he had shown some propensity to be a future star QB. Yes he should have probably turned the job over to Nichols sooner, but once Nichols did get that start against Edmonton Willy never saw the field again. Now ... We don't know yet how much rope Ross is going to get. I feel if Streveler could have just continued on the tear he was on against Edmonton that Ross would be riding in the back seat by now for sure. But ... I do see where the concern might be that MOS is a bit concerned about trying to turn underperformers into studs at the expense of winning at certain times. It's often surprised me how despite he and Walters working well together, Walters does seem to be wanting more superior players out on the field.
  18. Get a DB to do it like Fogg was doing when he was here then.
  19. No I'd go further and give Randle an AR spot with the understanding he may need to be switched out once in a while when the ratio must be maintained. We definitely have a few WRs currently there like Lankford who aren't cutting it.
  20. Perhaps a better comparison then would be with another Alex aka that low ceiling and bad armed Alex Brink dude. Sorry but I don't see Ross as having that capability to do the no 1 on your list with his risk-averse mentality. And yes Willy getting hit too much likely led to playing in shell shock, not to mention the bad Bellefeuille offense, but his indecisiveness is definitely there with Ross. And I'm not going to buy that his lack of big plays sits on Lapo when Streveler and Bennett chucked the ball down field.
  21. This coaching staff barring somehow getting V Adams on this roster would certainly be better off investing in him and Streveler as perhaps our number 2A and 2B QBs cuz imo, Ross is another Willy who fails to make big passes or generate big plays down the field. It's him who should be exiting quick.
  22. I say we should have kept Rueben Randle and axed Lankford. That move shoulda been a given considering Randle did way more with the ball thrown his way than the dud RL.
  23. It's likely QB by committee until Nichols returns. And yeah I agree, Ross should have a very short leash and get demoted quick because I really am much more if a believer in Bennett or Streveler. I know Ross had a higher completion percentage than Bennett and Streveler that last preseason game, but I think he lacks their mental toughness. Streveler went from a 100℅ completion rate against Edmonton to a 33℅, but that TD pass he threw there in a game that was otherwise going all bad for us at least showed me he's a fighter who won't quit when things are down.
  24. It is and that's not the issue. Issue is we still got some areas that need help and we gotta look at who can go where on the depth chart. Thus far FMB and Lankford are busts imo. Ross has had a better completion ℅ but Streveler could very well displace him.
  25. Two short punts giving the Leos easy fp? Ridiculous!
