I was thinking of this. One thing is for sure that Popp and Trestman are a tandem and very good friends. Popp certainly is better at his job when Trestman works with him. Now, I don't believe Popp back in 2013 had it in mind that Trestman was going to get canned, esp considering he had moderate success his first year with the Bears. I suspect in 2016 when Baltimore let him go that yeah he did give him a call. Perhaps had Mr W been patient enough to give Popp one more year, Trestman probably returns to MTL. Only other thing to consider is they would've still had to go QB shopping in MTL. They've benefited in TO from having Ray just as they did Calvillo.

Pretty much that can sum the difference between a HC and a coordinator. If you got the teaching tools and the know-how with the Xs and Os, you'll usually succeed as a coordinator anywhere. If you don't got a strong enough persona or the right philosophies to go with it, you're not likely to succeed as a HC.

Maybe not but if that old guy doesn't start wising up soon it's going to get real bad. No stability at all with coaching and it's why nobody smart will accept any HC jobs out there unless the Als get sold to more competent owners.

He's meddling in football business and has had ... 5 coaching changes in just as many years. He also is the one who hired that buffoon Kavis Reed to run this team. What kind of an owner is stupid enough to do that? That Montreal team is going to take years to fix and it is definitely that silly old owners fault. What he is doing is worse than anything Glieberman did. Bottom line is every CFL fan knew that Kavis Reed hire was going to be a disaster and Wettenhall needs to be held responsible for it.

Well, for BC it would depend on who becomes the new GM since a Buono retirement in my books would mean he's no longer trying to coach from upstairs either. Plus, with this whole trying to sell the team thing, if someone took over new ownership and cleaned the house, perhaps the situation becomes more ideal for the next guy. It's Montreal though whose the embarrassment and the team that's going to have to settle for a failure HC to take over until their owner stops acting as bad as Bernie Glieberman. If I was an Als fan I'd start boycotting their games and advocating for other fans to do the same and force the Glieberhall's to sell the team. WORST OWNER EVER.

Well, I guess I just wouldn't know all the nuances behind becoming an OC. I just heard that it took Millanovich several years of prep before he started calling plays. Maybe Buck Pierce is ready. I wouldn't know. If he is, then hell yeah I'd say let's roll with it.

Just saw on Twitter the Ridirts cut Jacoby Ford. Guy has a little mileage on him, but YES ... I'd say he is an upgrade over Greg Carr and certainly over Lankford. Also has kick return experience btw and has done a better job in that department than a few others we got. I'd tell our scouts to look in on him. I'm a bit surprised they did that btw without Naaman Roosevelt back yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fogg is put on his side.

While Reilly is certainly a gunslinger, I'm not underestimating Maas's willingness to go to the run on draw plays. Also, he seems to like quick outs to Vidal Hazelton. I kinda wonder if we shouldn't shade Loffler over to his side to lower the boom on him as opposed to him doing that on one of our guys like he did to Jovon J last game.

I guess I had figured the thread that was going was saying he was out the remainder of the season ... but had a possibility of returning some time in the playoffs. Maybe that changed and he's going to be out indefinitely now. Really hope we don't have another Cory Watson on our hands with these injuries.

It's him and Darvin Adams who we need back in order to win on Sunday. I'd take a Chris Matthews signing, but not sure we could just crash-land him in here and have him ready in just 6 days or less.

They beat us once late last season after the Nichols trade, but we've taken 3 of the last 4 since starting him including 2 in Edmonton. I just hope this squad is ready to go come this Sunday though because playoffs can be a different animal.

Let's hope so, I just felt at that point with all their injuries piling up at 7-0 and them just barely getting by with wins at that point we were setup well to knock em down. They've gotten a bit healthy since. But no, I hardly bought the hype. I just really wanted the Ridirts because I believe they're the worst team in the playoffs this year, and I think they're going to get beat bad by Ottawa this weekend because Ottawa's playing that game on the site of this year's Grey Cup and have the formula with a healthy Trevor Harris and Willy Powell to run wild on them. I think we can beat Edmonton, but Richie Hall better go with tight press man coverage all day long because soft zone is a bad formula to use against them.

It's finally here, postseason has arrived and the path to Ottawa starts now. We got the Eskidolts at home and a game that may be our most challenging of the postseason unless the stamps resurge in a big hurry, or the Redblacks run the table out east and get to play in the GC in front of their home crowd. The biggest watch I'm looking at? Nichols and D Adams must return to action and Clarence Denmark come alive in this game. We need the offense to come alive because Richie Hall is a dead weight failure. If we can get our passing game going, maybe Harris and Flanders can get things going underneath. But this game is a must win. One and done is 100℅ unacceptable and someone will be fired if that happens. Citizens of Winnipeg, it is your civic duty to be in IGF at 3 PM Sunday.

I think we caught Edmonton at the right times in the regular season though. It's not easy either to beat a team 3x in a season. What does give me confidence is the game is at home. We definitely needed a home game and not a road disaster like we had having to play BC last year. And we did have one extra day than Edmonton to prepare. But that also means expectations MUST be raised for this game. One and done is not acceptable when you host a playoff game. Walters and OShea are safe regardless of the outcome, and they definitely should be. Hall will need a win, a tough defensive showing, or the excuse of the offense short-circuiting to stay. Otherwise the drop kicking I've been talking about will happen.
