  1. I think it depends on which Masoli shows up. Let's not forgot that while he has come up with a few highly unexpected wins such as last year's comeback in Edmonton and the big opener against Toronto that same year, he's thrown a few stinkers such as those 8 turnovers I think it was he committed against us and that awful one against BC as well. If he gives Ed Gainey easy ones in this one, the Ridirts may not need Bridge to do much other than just manage the game. If the hot Masoli comes out though and gets Hamilton up early, then the Ridirts are gonna tank.
  2. Might be one of the more intriguing matchups between bottom teams seen out there in a while. For the moment Hamilton is Masoli town and ... well it would be the darnest thing if they began a roll to catch the Redblacks and Argos, even as unlikely as that is. They got an opportunity with Montreal descended into even more chaos than they have now. Big thing tonight is the Tabbies get to play against Brandon Bridge who apart from throwing two TDs in garbage time against BC is still well unproven. If Capicotti and company get to him enough in this game, it might even be Vernon Adams time before you know it. Gonna be interesting to see how McAdoo calls this game.
  3. Ahhhh beat me to it, it is a nice event to have on in a bye week. Especially since no more Thursday night games are on the air from here on out.
  4. I've never heard of such a thing.
  5. I'm sure they can, but I don't suspect they're using robots modeled after RBs and Wideouts running full speed across the field.
  6. I don't think anyone is against trying to prolong a player's career by not subjecting them to too many injuries through practice or potentially sustaining head injuries in various drills. But I feel if they don't specifically address all the small issues that arise where the rule goes vague, there's going to be too much lightening the load going on that there'll be unintended consequences come game time.
  7. A trade that prolonged the career of the otherwise inept Jim Barker.
  8. But it's not about skill and know-how, it's about game conditioning. Yeah I am sure players probably like the idea of lighter practices, and no full contact sessions probably shouldn't be done every day. But I really think if you don't prepare with any padded practice, you're going to see more injuries come game time.
  9. Exactly, I'd put this on par with the NHL coming up with some silly rule like no more practices on skates.
  10. I'm going to go with tradition here and say bad. i mean I have to think contact practice and full pads and all have some essence to conditioning players and getting them ready to go in big games. I really don't like this move by the league and think it's going to do more bad than good here.
  11. I'm most interested to see what Lulay decides to do this offseason, whether he feels it's time to retire or wants to give it one more shot.
  12. Trust me I'm with you there. Even feel a bit bad for some of the Als fans who you could say are of the reasonable non-arrogant sort and who've stuck with that team over the years, and I say that because of our whole circus parade in 2013 between the whole thing about Burke saying "it was the offense's decision" and then those leaks from the BOD office and all. But hell am I glad it's someone else and not us for once dealing with this crap.
  13. Yup, I am not surprised by this. All I can do is just shake my head at the buffoons running things in Montreal. Kinda seems odd though that Chapdelaine woulda wanted him promoted to GM, unless the idea there was to try and get him off the field sidelines. If that rumor is indeed true.
  14. I was thinking Mike Kelly. He'd fit right into all this.
  15. I along with many others have seen enough of his defenses to know they are no worse and usually better than Richie Hall's. Whether we hire him or not would likely depend on whether he and O'Shea would work well together. But well before he was fired I saw plenty of people talk about him coming here should Richie Hall tank.
  16. To me, I don't think there's any way of knowing really who is or isn't interested in Thorpe right now. We do know this that obviously Calgary, BC, SSK and Ottawa are not going to have any DC vacancies. Is Edmonton dissatisfied with Benevides's performance, or has Toronto's commitment to Chamblin wavered at all? The answer to that could be telling. The only true vacancy at the moment is in Hamilton as Lolley is still under the interim tag having replaced Reinebold. Either way though, Thorpe wouldn't be able to install a new system until the offseason.
  17. He is, but honestly so are the men upstairs above him. Unfortunately for Als fans, the owners will not sell despite local interest. http://montrealgazette.com/sports/football/cfl/were-not-for-sale-alouettes-owner-robert-wettenhall-says Even if the Als haven't lost enough money to start hitting the panic button yet, keep this gong show and losing season stuff up and it's going to get worse. My what a stubborn old man.
  18. Kavis Reed is a backstabber and likely has a big ego, perhaps wanting to get one of his own guys or himself installed as the DC. I'm guessing while he was ST coordinator here, he and Thorpe musta had some kinda fighting going on behind the scenes or something. The way he dismissed the guy was classless too. Yes he'll find work as a DC, I have no doubt about that. But getting the whole HC gig at this point would be a pretty big risk not knowing what you're going to get. And Hamilton's a little unstable too. Not Montreal unstable but still in a bit of upheaval that I'd have a little pause before going there as well.
  19. I don't think he'll get a HC job now that he got fired because his stock will have taken a huge hit. But I am in the camp that once this season is over, we should at least consider bringing him onboard as DC because he certainly couldn't do any worse than Hall.
  20. Meantime rumor also is Glenn hasn't reported to practice today. Ridirts may be starting Bridge Friday in Hamilton.
  21. I believe his son Andrew is calling a lot of the shots these days, and I say that because remember 2014? It was him who passed right over Popp's head to hire Tom Higgins as head coach, and I'm betting he was doing something with this current circus show that now has taken center stage there. I'm guessing Bob has kinda taken more of a backseat approach even if he still holds the title as Chairman.
  22. Yeah I believe so too especially since MTL has been doing this even before Mack showed up. The point though was that it's only fitting that he's there because he fits right into this fire the coach circus culture that the Als have perpetrated even more so than us now.
  23. This right here, and I'd also add one of the very reasons why Lapolice accepted the chance to return here is because we changed our approach by keeping O'Shea even if there was good enough reason to fire him for the 2015 season. It was us showing we're committed to stability and building something. Montreal has done the exact opposite over the last 4 now 5 seasons and now they're paying for it.
  24. The smart guys currently looking for openings will stay away from Montreal until that team is sold to more competent owners.
  25. I don't see Lapolice wanting to go there now. Did you see Moe Khan's tweet? He just pointed out how the average lifespan of MTL coaches since Trestman left has been 20 games or something like that. That is really bad. I thought we were bad about firing coaches when Bauer was here, this franchise has now become the most unhinged unstable place to work in CFL history. If I'm a prospective HC, no way I'm going to accept any offers from Montreal.
