  1. I'm going to lay my money down that he is. Since when did any coach keep their job after only winning two games with a highly favorable expansion draft? The last coach who coached an expansion team who only won 2 games (Dom Capers) got fired immediately, there's no way Campbell stays after that gong show he put on this year. I'm gonna bet the whole lotto on that.
  2. This is it !!!!!!!!!!!!! Well this is it in terms of 2 things 1. On a small note Rick Campbell has to win tonight to keep his job which even then is unlikely. 2. For the Argos, it's a win and MAYBE in scenario. Covered in the other playoff thread but to resimplify it, if the Argos win tonight they stay alive for now creating an "all the marbles" situation in Hamilton tomorrow. Montreal is in regardless but they and the Tiger Cats are both gonna fight for the East host spot. And either SSK or BC will come over to play them. So for Toronto it's........ Lose = Out and Hamilton in Win = In with a Hamilton loss, out with Hamilton win It all starts tonight
  3. From the looks of things, Trestman is in the NFL to stay now. As to that what happened with Troy Smith thing? He's never been a keeper QB anywhere he's been. He hasn't been all bad, in fact he even showed good flashes when he played for the Ravens and the 49ers, but there was always that fizzling out that he would have at some point down the road that ended up derailing his career. In this case, I think having a young completely raw OC running the offense early on with no help is what put him in trouble. Had the Als hired Garcia and co earlier like at the beginning of the year, I think he would've faired much better. But, it is what it is.
  4. It's not about the kind of players they are, it's about the similarities in how they've succeeded. Neither Buck nor Jonathan have had all that good of numbers, Pierce's worse but Crompton is hardly an elite QB yet. It's a comparison in that they both have found ways to get the job done. Never tore it up on a Calvillo level, but both just had to do enough to win a game thanks to their outstanding defenses. That's where the comparison is similar. Not criticism, I even said I'm not discrediting him. I give him credit where due in what he's done to help change the fortunes of Montreal, and he certainly has done his part. But I think it's more that the Als also were able to get things clicking in the running game with Sutton once he got up to full strength, and Noel Thorpe's defenses have been the strength of that team all year and with a little help now from the O, they've maximized on that.
  5. No surprise, he proved my midseason thread wrong when he turned things around. Yeah I know he had help from Garcia, Schonert, and Thorpe, but he is still the head coach and in charge of everything. Kudos to him, he earned it.
  6. I'm not going to discredit Crompton by any means, I do think he as a player and as a person has some leadership capabilities that the team can rally around. He has a pretty commanding way in the huddle too, but I don't know that he's all that much more than a slightly better version of Buck Pierce without injuries. I think the bigger credit has to be given to Noel Thorpe and that defense, they're the ones who I'd say have been the rallying point of that team and they've been playing lights out most of this 2nd half.
  7. Bob Irving also says the Bombers are better http://cfl.ca/article/irving-blue-bombers-are-on-the-right-track
  8. In truth, sure, I happened to bring up Dave Ritchie though because the Ritchie years started off much like this year did. Reinebold and the regime in charge of those years had pretty much emptied the cupboard on him and he had to go through the process of restocking it. Like I said, the wins for Ritchie didn't all just come right away, but it could be seen the team was getting better and eventually we did become the number 1s in the West. My biggest hope is that the days of egomaniacs running this team are over. So far, I don't see any scapegoating taking place and that's a good sign. Best way to fixing problems is everyone owing up to them, and so far I think we've seen the team do a good job of that.
  9. Mike Kelly also finished the 2009 season with 7-11 record. Just sayin' I knew this would be brought up. But anyway, Mike Kelly's record was only a partial reason he was fired, the bigger reason is because he was an embarrassment to the team and the league as a whole with his awful character, the CFL commissioner at the time even said so. He was also GM and majorly ****ed up throwing good players out the door with that control. If you can't respect or treat your players like a professional should, you don't deserve to be coaching. Plus Kelly didn't take a 3-win team from the year before and improve them, he took a perennial Grey Cup team that Berry had built and pretty much rode it into the ground. Bigggg difference from what O'Shea has done.
  10. I don't see the Riders winning anything in Montreal. That place is a death trap for them. TBURGESS, on 03 Nov 2014 - 10:53 AM, said: BC (Cross Over) vs Edmonton with an Edmonton win. Same thing with BC, they never win in Montreal
  11. Well, the seeding is still yet to be determined, but the way things are playing out, this is what it is looking like: East Seminfinal Saskatchewan at Hamilton West Semifinal: BC at Edmonton East Final Host Montreal West Final Host Calgary My predictions for the games are as follows Hamilton 31 Saskatchewan 6 Edmonton 28 BC 10 Montreal 22 Hamilton 19 Calgary 29 Edmonton 17 Grey Cup Calgary 38 Montreal 28
  12. 2 things 1. Get that one big OT who can knock John Chick and Adam Bighill on their butts 2. Fix the special team coverage, that was the difference in us losing to the Riders in one of our games, and possibly BC in this last game.
  13. 17-14. I don't know whether or not to believe the Als are the real deal right now, or if they're just a reverse pattern of the 2011 Bombers.
  14. Als with a 7-3 lead early here. The race for the East is on.
  15. If anything, I'd think he didn't run the ball enough. I think he was slightly better at not abandoning it like he did against BC last week, but for a coach I've always thought of as run-heavy, I think he still could've done more.
  16. I didn't watch this game but saw the stats, and once again Rick Campbell was an idiot. He's a QB wrecker and I guarantee you he just made another Justin Goltz out of Danny O'Brien. Yup, I said it.
  17. Yup, it's a process that has different phases to all of it. I think we passed phase 1. We obviously won't know about phase 2 till next year, but this is exactly the direction I wanted to see the team head down. I don't care if the negatrons here are not optimistic about next year. I am, and nothing's gonna rain on that.
  18. Can't imagine he wants to remain on a PR much longer if nobody is going to grab him.
  19. Dumb Post Is Dumb
  20. Yes, although Marve did at times keep plays alive. But I agree, Willy hasn't just forgotten how to play good QBing. I think he just hit a slump, but no reason he can't get out of it this offseason. Notice how Duane Ford actually was able to talk on how this team was improving and how they could continue to do so. Certain fans around here and certain columnists would do well to listen to what he has to say. Spot on with much of his analysis (May Rod Black Never Come Back). Anyway, we closed her out with a win which is what you always want to do. I think we can shoot for 10 wins next season.
  21. Yup I said it first. And the 2014 Season finishes at 7-11 Long way to go for this team to improve, but this is still a big start. I know, if only we hadn't laid that egg in Ottawa, or beaten the Leos last week, or managed to win one game vs Ssk or the last against Hamilton. But hey, we're getting there as I've been saying all along. And a Win is a win. Let's take that Grey Cup in 2015
  22. It's MOS decision to deal with them that way. So, ultimately it's on him. And of all the "bunch of jerks" as you put it, so just who are they? Wiecek? Sure constantly. Lawless? On occasion. Who else?? Show me where the media in Winnipeg is anti MOS & hates the guy as I don't see it. Where are the other jerks? MOS has to grow up & deal wth the media. That's his job as well as coaching. Bottom line. The Winnipeg media isn't the problem for the Bombers. The point is those dudes are knowledgeless bums who should be fired out of journalism. Because they are not true journalists. Media outlets need to hire professionals to cover stories, not bums. So yes, the WPG media needs to clean their house and get it in order.
  23. Maybe instead of ripping on O'Shea for dealing with a bunch of jerks every press conference, we should rip the WFP and the Sun and tell them to get some real reporters and not useless columnists. They should not pay these merely street-smart rollovers to come in and cover football stories when they don't know what they're talking about half the time. Surely it can't be that hard for a professional news organization to actually go through linkedin and look through people's resumes to see their football knowledge experience and get real journalists in town. Bottom line, if the media is gonna lecture us on cleaning our house, I suggest they do the same to theirs.
  24. Nobody should get fined for calling out the CFL Officiating as garbage. If that happens, then Free speech is DEAD. That is a good thing for Bob Young to do, though I think he should've been harsher on the CFL for that. As for Barker, yeah he should be suspended from coming down on the field of play. Obviously nobody could tell whether or not he was telling the ref what to do, but if he was, then yes that does deserve some sort of penalty. The ref should be penalized some sort of fine too though for letting the guy tell him what to do if that's the case.
  25. The faulty assumption that people have is "Willy took 10 sacks that were his fault last game, therefore he's going to take 8-10 sacks (give or take) again this game." I say no, that will not happen. He knows what he did wrong that last game, and players don't usually like to repeat the same mistakes twice in a row. I don't know what the game plan will be, but I expect he will be getting rid of the ball quicker. Also expect that we won't be neglecting Cotton in the second half either.
