  1. I have thought of that, but here's a few differences I would say. Lapo didn't seem to run a whole lot of RB checkdown screens, he seemed to run a lot of short flat passes to WRs where they were sitting ducks to be tackled in the open field. The big difference between those two plays is linemen can get downfield and block linebackers on RB screens, they can't do that on WR checkdown plays. Another difference is Lapo seemed to get some kind of bad negative play on 1st down frequently, some of which was O-line penalties that weren't his fault, but others were bad negative run plays that would get us in the 2nd and long, and instead of trying medium range to long pass plays for a conversion, he would just checkdown the ball for a short range and end up short of the marker every time. He also refused to go for it on 3rd and 1 or less many times and that certainly gives fans a reason to be irate. To be fair, I don't mind that Bellefeuille has incorporated long passes in his offense, you gotta have both short and long passes, everyone does and there should be a variety. But in our case, when your QB is getting hammered, you absolutely gotta try something to slow down a rush, and screen passes if they are run properly can do that. I like Bellefeuille, but I really felt he blew it in this last game.
  2. Yup this is what I was speaking of, they are defending a horse**** QB and blaming an OC with one of the most polished resumes in the CFL for it. It's comical though, if Cortez goes, they are screwed. If Cortez goes then the Blue should sign him at any cost... I think there is something we gotta be careful of though, when it comes to "grass is greener" with other OCs that I was just thinking of today. I'm not disagreeing that I'd love having Cortez here calling the shots, but I think we gotta take care before flaming Rider fans for being upset with him. I think for anyone, it's said that the best OCs are the ones who have the most imagination and creativity in their playbook. I think for us we would say, Cortez is a creative imaginative genius while Marcel Bellefeuille has none of that. While for the Rider fans they're upset because they believe he got outsmarted by Ryan Dinwiddie and Jeff Garcia yesterday and didn't use his imagination at all in that playbook. While to us, no he didn't, he's a great OC who just has bad QBs in the camp right now who can't execute any of his plays. At the same time, I tend to think our O-line is so bad right now that neither Cortez nor Bellefeuille could execute their plays with us either. That doesn't change what happened to either of our teams yesterday, but the Rider fans may have some truth in what they're saying about Cortez not making some adaptations in his playbook from Durant to Sunseri. I also think we gotta take care of saying plays simply don't work because there was no creativity in the way they were implemented. You could come up with some of the most insane packages to get the ball in the hands of your speedsters, but if there is no blocking, or strength to execute the play, it will not work plain and simple. If Stefan Logan got no blocking for the packages in which BC uses him in, the same story would unfold there. Same thing for Cornish in Calgary or Millanovich's stuff in TO. But that said, this is why I believe Chamblin, Taman, and the rest of the Rider management is gonna keep Cortez, because they know their fans are not qualified to make decisions on who stays or who goes on that coaching staff. If he does go, then hey yes let's bring him in, but trust me, I'm more than certain they have no intention of cutting him based on what some disgruntled Rider fans say on the Rider board.
  3. I would also say I think it's just within the fans nature to blame first and foremost their coordinators, which I'm not saying ours aren't at fault, but I think throughout the league we've seen fans do this. Example, yesterday over at Riderfans, the whole Rider nation wants to crucify George Cortez for everything that goes wrong with that offense. To us, the answer is simple, it's that Sunseri has no arm and cannot get the ball downfield, and his decision making is uncrisp, and that's why Cortez is limited in what he can call for that O. But the Rider nation who look at other elements of things in Tino's game or in other ways they believe the team could move the ball, believe in that, hence why they blame their OC when he doesn't do those things. I'd say the same thing goes for here with Bellefeuille. What does concern me with Bellefeuille is that he's seemed to have gotten away from RB screen passes completely, and when your offense needs something to not only try to move the ball but also try and slow down a rush, those plays can be that thing. Now it may not work and when execution isn't happening period, it's likely because your team is just not talented enough to do it, but I do think he should've at least tried to run that play. But there are so many other factors that go into that execution besides just play calling or selection that you gotta remember before you start blaming the OC. We might also look at say Tom Higgins right now and say, damn I wish we would've hired him as HC, but if we had started out in that same 1-8 start as the Als, I'm guessing we would've been as vocal about calling for his head as the Als fans. The CFL is like that, your team can go from looking like utter crap to all star level in just a matter of games, or vice versa. But that's why you gotta let the season play out in its entirety before jumping to conclusions about head coaches or coordinators.
  4. I can see your point, but one reason why Willy is not going through his progressions and getting to scan the field like we saw earlier this season, is that he feels a ghost rusher coming even when the pressure is not there. I don't disagree that pulling him was the right move, just had to be done, but our O-line is just that bad. It is maddening that we just can't get the right crew of people up front that could at least hold up their man for about 2 seconds. I don't know though, these other teams have a lot more going right for them right now besides just their QB play. I'm not saying Crompton and Collaros haven't done well, they have and certainly are part of the recent turnarounds in their respective teams, but there is a lot more behind it than just them.
  5. And maybe Doug Berry for assistant HC- then we would have a hat trick of disgraced head coaches. Seriously, Reed set new records for dickishness in his days as Edmonton HC. I'd take Reed as a DC, it's not his fault his GM threw their all-star QB out the door and kept leaving him with scraps to coach. But look, Toronto's been happy enough with what Burke has done for them and he was a terrible head coach. I don't care what someone looked like as a HC, that's got nothing to do with how good a DC they are.
  6. Yup this is what I was speaking of, they are defending a horse**** QB and blaming an OC with one of the most polished resumes in the CFL for it. It's comical though, if Cortez goes, they are screwed.
  7. And that should do it. Time to cheer on the blue.
  8. I guess I'm okay with this move, but this should be Volny taking all the carries in this game.
  9. Yup and why not? Game is all but in hand now. Hopefully Tisdale or Olivier-Broiulliette come out with one more pick 6 to score 44 on the Riders
  10. I bet pretty soon they will call for Lapolice to be their head coach and then I will really start laughing.
  11. I'm laughing that they're blaming George Cortez, that's just the silliest thing I've ever read, making an offensive coordinator the scapegoat for an awful Goltz QB under center for them.
  12. Doege is in. It's gonna be a merry-go round the whole rest of the way here Rider fans, get used to it.
  13. Yup it was almost 38-7 there. Regardless of our game outcome, this is gonna make for at least 1 part of an enjoyable Turkey Day.
  14. Yup, I don't know how anyone who's a bomber fan can't think this is funny. Haven't been over to riderfans yet today but I hope they start yelling out of desperation to put KJ in lol, I'm gonna laugh my head off if they do.
  15. And the embarrassment continues. This is just making my day right now haha. 31-7 This Rider team is winning 0 more games this season.
  16. 24-7 And the Riders dumpster fire continues. And btw, there is no such thing as being better if the Riders won. Suck it melonheads.
  17. Montreal should've been given one last Hail Mary shot there. And those Riders are lucky they aren't down 28-7 right now.
  18. Checkdown Sunseri, lol, he's lucky his team is only down 7 at this point.
  19. And the Als go up big time now Duron Carter atones and scores big. Boom And then Sask just got lucky, that should've been Montreal football on that play, Bowman ripped it out before he was down.
  20. We're gonna go in there and win today. Bellefeuille is coming out with a brand new pistol screen game that's gonna throw off the Esks defense and have them confused all day.
  21. Als will win the East as it is, so we can cheer for them Meantime, Sunseri effed up and the Als make em pay. Boooyah
  22. If I'm the Als I come up and load the box or take away the short passing game, Tino ain't got no deep ball capabilities.
  23. GD it Duron
  24. Game on in Montreal, let's make Canadian Thanksgiving Day special with a Riders loss and Bomber win. Btw, as I'm in the states, our turkey day doesn't come for another month, but I got the Als pullin this off.
  25. I know probably not a whole lot of people want to watch this, but the uploading of Bomber games continues By Quarter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBS0S1lrOVg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaCeODMd2Qo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhmxE_8M3Ls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqQ3OVW6MIc
