Lol wut? How is demoting Grigsby panic? Nobody said get rid of him, just to give Volny the starter job. If we decided to bench Willy because of the last game, that would be panic, but Grigsby's position is not one that he has locked down or one that he should look at as his with no competition. If you want a RB that hits the line or finds the hole with no hesitation, put in Volny who'll run straight downhill. Besides with all the rave about him being a great special teamer, that to me warrants making him the premier back here taking at least 80% of the carries. You want a back that won't go down with arm tackles, stick him in.

I don't see how anyone's lost interest or a dead forum for that matter around here. That chat was hoppin too in the last game, so I don't see how that's the case at all. I admit when college football is going on, I tend to only watch the bomber games and somewhat tune out the rest of the CFL, especially on Saturdays, but no interest is lost whatsoever on this season. Right now, the team's going through the growing pains of becoming winners. Every team's gonna have bad losses like we had last game, but I would only call a small handful of games that we've had this year bad. Overall our team is more competitive than it's been in a while, and that's something fans all over the place here have forgotten. I'm with KaptCrunch, I think this team is a team that's got a great future ahead of them. My points to fix this team are: 1. Keep drafting and scouting for O-linemen, one of these days we're gonna hit the right combo up front and give Willy the kind of protection he needs. 2. Get rid of Kuale, I think he's the weak link on this defense. Dropped that pick back in week 8 or whenever our first meeting with the melonheads was that potentially could've won that game, and while he has talent, he just doesn't get that talent with no discipline is useless. He's the Ndamakung Suh of the CFL. 3. Get a bigger more powerful runningback who just runs straight ahead at all times. This is why I like Volny because he doesn't cut around and stuff, just runs straight ahead, but if he's not the answer, get someone else who runs with his style and puts the ball on the ground 0 times. I think Grigs is okay on some runs or on screen plays, but lately I've come to believe he should not get the vast bulk of the carries. We need an Avon Cobourne here.

The Bombers Won't Win Again This Season

I'll also say, I'm not really surprised about our current record. In fact at this point in the season, I figured it probably would be tough to manufacture wins, given how thick the competition gets at this point. And still, compared to the disaster of last year, this team is still better. I mean, last night was bad, but it wasn't how all our losses have been. 4 of our losses, including all 3 vs SSK have been close tight competitive games that could've just as easily been won, which if that happens flips our record around to 10-4. But with a team like ours, obviously those mistakes will happen. And I'll keep saying this, and I know others will need to hear it, even when we were on our win streak this year, I had said this team was not Grey Cup ready yet, and while maybe 1 or 2 of the losses did drive me nuts, overall I've been able to live with most of them knowing that this team is having a lot to learn about the will to win especially late in the season. Late season is where you run into the biggest tests because at that point, the glitter and glamour of some of your early wins wears off and the will to get up and play every game becomes harder, and our young guns have to learn that. But I think despite that, you gotta give O'Shea rope as a first-year head coach to get it right in the future, because the right players and the right coaches will learn about situations like that. I think if this team adds the right pieces up front on the O-line and gets a running game that opponents truly have to respect, I think in the coming years they can really become a force to reckon with. But you gotta take the wins we've had so far as a plus and some extra topping on the cake. Remember, we had a lot of people predicting only 4 wins for this year, and with us already at the maximum wins I predicted at 6, I think they've taken steps way ahead of what they were last year, it's just gonna take a year or 2 more before they take it to the next level. Best thing is for Walters and co to keep building with it and not wreck the talent we do have like Mack did. -
Wasn't impressed at all by him. Our corners were playing way off of those WRs and giving him checkdown plays all game. Buck Pierce on his worst days would've easily had that many points the way our D was tackling as well. That's what maybe 1 or 2 games all year for this old fart to play good? He may be good till the end of the year but he's not gonna last.

The Bombers Won't Win Again This Season

I'm skeptical of Etch and I wouldn't be upset if he was fired in the offseason, maybe even a little happy about that. Our run defense has been gashed and it killed us last night and he certainly is to blame for that. But our guys even when they were in position to make the stop simply forgot how to tackle. That's not entirely on the DC (keyword here is "entirely") when they don't finish the tackle. That's just bad execution on the players' part not to go up and bring the man down short of the first down on a short pass play. Again, that's not saying he didn't fail to call out some adjustments last night when he should've, but the players bear more responsibility for not finishing tackles. -
The Bombers Won't Win Again This Season

As bad as our loss was last night, look at this The entire east swept the west this weekend, so there's some comfort in that. But come on!!!! We won't win another game this year? I beg to differ. We may not win more than 2 games from here on out, but no team we're playing this next week is invincible. And teams have gotten up from awful weeks before and ours certainly can as well. -
Well, obviously tonight was a bit more of a downfall than usual, D has been rough, and obviously tonight they just didn't feel like tackling. I don't see it being that bad every week from here on, but obviously we need to make adjustments to shut the Esks down. Biggest one is making sure Reilly pays a price for running with the ball. Have Teague Sherman waiting right there so when he takes off running Teague hammers him. Take him out and the Esks offense will struggle. Or at least keep him in the pocket where he will be less comfortable and maybe hit around a little. Then maybe send bucknor on blitzes to take out John White on running plays. Either way, no more backing off receivers, go play press coverage on them and make them get open instead of letting QBs play Crowton checkdown on us.
-
Yup, I said that, make Carl Volny the starter. No more silly lateral moves on handoffs and use the man who runs downhill. When we get to the red zone from 3 yards out, he will push the pile into the endzone and not get caught in the backfield again. Keep Grigsby, but use him on draw plays and passes. Give Volny the bulk of the carries. And to add to that, I think we should use Stoudemire on the end around carries or passes that Stefan Logan gets for BC, he can do those and he's bigger and can run defenders over as we saw against Hamilton last week. This will free the offense up and keep Willy from getting hit.

Ding ding ding, we got a winner. Anyway, the threads here have a point that Hank does not belong in the same convo as Warren Moon, not even close. I'm gonna even predict he will not even become close to getting to the CFL hall of fame. 1 grey cup win against 5 or 6 for the more illustrious QBs in this league, that pretty much says it all. But anyway, how long before the Fire Desjardins signs hang up in Ottawa? The fact Campbell does not give Elliot and Carder significant playing time at this point is beyond stupid. Any one of those QBs would make the Redblacks offense watchable for their fans over this trash.
-
For the Redblacks sake, they had better hope so. Best QBs in the league are the ones with good instincts and just good football IQ in general, and old Hank has none of those. I don't think we're gonna win by much in this game and our O which has been struggling will probably continue to do so, but 11 points will be enough to win due to Hank only being able to manage 7 points a game. If you're a Redblack fan, it's time to blow up the team twitter page and demand he get benched and Elliot put in to turn on his Drew Brees mode and power up the Redblacks offense.

I say why not, this guy never misses a long snap. We got snap issues every game so far since Wild has been out that have cost us points on punts, so why not go after a certified expert for snaps. He wouldn't need to come in for any other play other than that, and who better than the pro of all centers, Jeff Saturday. Okay just kidding, but damn, gotta be someone out there who is an expert LS.

I wouldn't say the league itself is bush league, but the officiating method is. Bottom line, I don't think the big cigs running this league understand how bad the officiating is in the league due to a lack of bringing up the proper refs through the ranks and training them in. Also, to the point of what someone said, if the head refs can't keep their staffs together throughout the year, that to me is a problem and should be changed back to what it was, or something to keep from disjunctions In the field calls. I mean, I'd think officials work as a team just as much as players do and this current method must be stopping it. But on top of that, if you're gonna keep adding rules or amendments to the rules, you had better get your refs up to speed on those and they aren't.

See my tough love (on Willy) thread - exactly what I've been saying. 9 td passes in 12 games. Not good enough I don't think anyone denies that this O needs to get better. O-line is still having issues, and I agree, Willy is playing in a bit of a funk right now, and no the refs weren't responsible for a mismanaged goal line situation at the end there, but again, that does not let them off for their incompetence and awful **** shows on these fields and the CFL is not doing anything to fix it. Disgraceful. I hope Glen Johnson gets fired at the end of this season, he is 100% to blame for sitting on his *** and letting these incompetent bums run around on our field screwing up everything. What an idiot.

1) How did that play affect the outcome of the game? 2) I bet if it had been a Bomber receiver, people would be saying it was the correct call. Even Irving and Currier thought the correct call was made. And I'm quite sure that call that was made against TJ Harris 3 years ago when we lost that game to Calgary was the exact same thing. Bang bang play, and it has been called against us all the time. Fumble hands down, and Greg Peach got robbed of his touchdown.

O'Shea heated in CJOB post game interview
USABomberfan replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Did the reporter forget our expertise long snapper has been out for some time now, hence all these unwanted safeties and now blocked punt? I don't blame O'Shea at all for getting upset that someone reported a fabricated story and didn't do his job right. Another black eye on our local media. -
Well, whoever you blame whether it's that nutjob Glen Johnson or now resigning comish Mark Cohon, someone needs to do their job out there instead of putting up with this referee crap job that's costing teams games and robbing fans of ticket money. It's ridiculous and the league is coming under fire from me for putting up with this.
-
Very true and if we only finished the season with 1 more over Ottawa, I'd take that too. But I still say we got issues with not diversifying our run game and using 1 back way too much. I say, pull Grigsby when we're down in the goal line and feed the ball to Volny or Pontbriand. We need a big boulder running down in there who will run defenders over and push piles into the EZ. That's not Grigsby's strength and we need to get Carl or mr M down in there bulldozing it.
-
its not bellefielle that threw incredibly stupid interceptions vs ssk and its not belle who piised the last threw plays of our game today. Dude, if you're gonna bring that up can you at least read what I said in it's entirety? I said I thought he just mishandled that situation where Willy threw the ball in the last few plays of the game. I said, he could've ran some Marve sneaks or Volny power runs down in that goal line. Nothing wrong with that when there was still time. Bigger culprits of tonight's loss were those ****** refs. Ellingson fumble ruled an incompletion, and that awful call on the guy running into the kicker when he was blocked into him. Those 2 fail calls changed this game and what should've been a drive with a FG to win it ended up becoming needing a TD. No excuse for the CFL to put up with that.
-
I'm a little surprised it's not Bellefeuille who's getting the tough love. Mind you, I'm not down on him, completely, nor am I one of the crazies who wants him fired ..... yet. But I do think he could 've called that goal line situation at the end a little better. There was still enough time to try and run Robert Marve sneaks or draws in that situation, or even trick them and have Marve throw on a bootleg. I don't see any reason we couldn't have called that. But I agree with Grigsby, he needs to sit, and when we're down in the goal line, bring in the rock and let Volny pound it. I've been saying that for years.
