Atomic Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Always nice to see Bisons getting a shot with the big Blue. Was very surprised the Riders gave up on McKay so quickly. Blue-urns 1
Rich Posted August 31, 2016 Author Report Posted August 31, 2016 http://www.bluebombers.com/2016/08/31/bombers-add-ol-alex-mckay/ Quote WINNIPEG, MB., August 31, 2016 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the addition of national offensive lineman Alex McKay to the practice roster. McKay (6-5, 300, Manitoba, January 25, 1991 in Winnipeg, MB) was selected by Saskactehwan in the sixth round, 52nd overall in the 2016 CFL Draft. The Winnipeg native spent the last four years at the University of Manitoba. McKay started all 32 regular season and seven postseason games during his collegiate career with the BIsons. Following last season, he was selected to participate in the 2015 CIS East-West Bowl. The club has also released international receiver Kris Adams from the practice roster.
Fatty Liver Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) Adams was given a decent shot, despite having good height and speed his hands just didn't seem to be good enough. Edited August 31, 2016 by Throw Long Bannatyne LimJahey and Blue-urns 2
MyDogHasScheifeles Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 It was clear to all that Adams was doomed with guys on the ir mending up.

Slow and unspectacular pretty much sums up Adams Bomber career, sounds like the club is prepping for the return of Dress or Smith as well ... Edited August 31, 2016 by IC Khari
Noeller Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 When are they back on the practice field? Golf tournament was Monday, I think yesterday was a day off.....is today the first day back at 'er?

Had St John came to camp and performed, maybe he would be starting at Tackle. Then Mckay would still be here in backup/ development role. My opinion is that it was a mistake giving up on him so quickly, and that Chris Jones wanted the roster spot for his Eskimo buddy Andrew Jones, who has been horrible to say the least this year.
B-F-F-C Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 McKay didn't want to share a house with 40 other guys. ? JCon, Fatty Liver, Blue-urns and 3 others 6
B-F-F-C Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) Adams days were numbered as soon as Denmark was signed. He only stick around a little longer because of injuries. Inconsistency killed him. Edited August 31, 2016 by B-F-F-C bustamente 1
BomberBall Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Dressler and Smith are back at practice today. The Classic, Noeller and johnzo 3

This puts McKay in good company- with Chick, Denmark etc. I hope he does well with the Bombers- you can't coach size or passport and we have the luxury of having the time to assess and groom him. ddanger 1
Blueandgold Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Adams was easily the worst of our receivers. I'm glad to see him go.
JCon Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 I'm pleased they signed McKay. Local boy with nothing to lose! The Adams move was inevitable.
bustamente Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 No surprise on Adams and since both mighty mites are back on the field he was first on the chopping block really didn't impress anyone

Adams on the field together, I don't foresee height being an issue. That is one solid receiving core, sprinkle in Kohlert for blocking and ball security and they could compete with any receiving group in the league. ddanger 1

ddanger Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 we have some good players just about ready to return......exciting and optimistic times ahead!
bearpants Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 I'm always happy to add Bison players/local guys... being a depth O-lineman is even better... hopefully he works out to be a starter one day... Noeller, Mark F and GCJenks 3
