Tracker Posted September 3, 2016 Report Posted September 3, 2016 The China Clipper has dropped anchor for the last time. May he and his find peace. Noeller 1
iso_55 Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 he had a full & wonderful life. CFL running back with the Stamps & Esks, multiple Grey Cup winner, successful businessman in Calgary, GM & President of the Stampeders & finally Lt. Governor of Alberta. RIP Normie Kwong. JCon and Noeller 2
iso_55 Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 Was probably a mover & shaker in the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party as well hence the Lt Gov position. Most people would be happy achieving just one of these accomplishments in life but Norm did it all.
WBBFanWest Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 Being that Mr. Kwong is from Alberta and had a long association with both the Esks and the Stamps,, I'm sure that there was nothing he hated more than the Riders. That being the case I hope that today, in the Bomber locker room, they take a minute, pause in silence, and remember a true CFL legend. Then I hope they get out there, kick some green butt and win one for the Clipper. May light perpetual shine about Normie Kwong and may he be granted peace. johnzo and Noeller 2
Noeller Posted September 4, 2016 Author Report Posted September 4, 2016 Our fancy new football field up in Olds is named for him, so I'd done a bunch of research when that happened. Hell of a football player.
IC Khari Posted September 5, 2016 Report Posted September 5, 2016 Another CFL great passes, so sad. That whole Eskie team from the 50's is pretty much all gone now.

Mark F Posted September 5, 2016 Report Posted September 5, 2016 wikipedia entry for the surname kwong mentions him. "Since the Han Dynasty, the Kuang family had a prominent role in the Han aristocracy. Several high generals and commissioners were from the Kuang clan, the last recorded Kuang aristocracy was of the Ming Dynasty."
Engelwood Posted September 5, 2016 Report Posted September 5, 2016 He also has his name of the Stanley Cup too as an owner. One of the few to have both grey cup and stanley cup rings.
