• Teams owing picks for amounts up to $7,510,464 must have those picks available in next year’s draft (2017).
• Teams owing two picks in the same round must have them available in the next three drafts (or three picks in the next four drafts, etc)

Here is the big one:

• If the original team chooses to accept the terms of the offer sheet, they are also not allowed to trade the player for one year from the date of exercising their right to match.  (i.e. if Jets match an offer by another team, they can't trade Trouba for one calendar year.)

That's a lot to give up. He wants $8 mill a year. No team in their right mind would give up two first round, second & third round players for Trouba. Maybe McDavid but even then...

And if he can't sign for less to try get around the draft picks (say like $4 million) because the Jets will match it and make him play.  The contract offer one signs is the contract they have to sign with the original team too.

There was a lot of talk around July 1st about the Bruins, but  the Bruins have traded away their 2nd and 3rd in 2017.  That would mean that then the Bruins would have to make an offer to Trouba > $9.388,080 per season as the only compensation they could send back was the four first rounders.

If Trouba gets traded i'm pretty sure we get a very good d-man in return who hopefully plays the left side and a medium prospect/ draft pick. Don't think Chevy will fleece anybody this time but the return will be very good.

Hall was the price for a top pairing young D on a great contract a desperate team had to pay. Return for a disgruntled player with no contract asking for a trade and to be paid big money will be much much less

Bottom line.  If he wants to play in the nhl... he has 2 options. . 1. Sign with the Jets. 2. Sit until he is traded. Jets will not let a 22 year old RFA who has earned nothing and has zero rights tell them what they can do. He won't be traded until someone offers what the jets want.

There has been talk of teams making deals with Vegas to avoid losing someone they can't protect. You never know...unfortunately Vegas has nothing to trade back but draft picks.
