for that price (6th rounder) i'd have made that trade. Health is a big concern, but as you said if he can stay healthy he'd have upgraded our receiving corps big time

yeah hes worth the pick on a gamble all day.

It could also mean that the Als don't think SJ will be ready to play as soon as TC or that his major knee surgery will limit his effectiveness or that they tried to renegotiate his contract and he wasn't interested.

Those are all salary related, just said in 3 different ways.

The Als weren't willing to pay him what his contract says.  That's all there is to it.

Paying a receiver $250,000+ is not really feasible, can't see many of those contracts being offered in the future.  Bowman, Green, who else is being paid that much to catch balls?

if they are an elite wr and either have sustained it and will be around a while or its a mid season pick up It could be worth while. Long term, if you can lock up a consistent elite wr I think itd be worth while. One wr can make a bigger impact on an offense then one ol.

CFL contracts not worth the paper they're written on. Just a big scam to sign players for the now & not tomorrow.

the "guarantee" point is better known as the veteran cut date lol.

How many players have to take pay cuts? Seems almost all veterans have to at some point. So, why sign a contract over a year in length? GMs like Popp will just grind their players anyway. Sometimes just months after signing a new deal. Either sign or be cut. Okay if you're 28 & at the top of your game. Not good if you're 32, a longtime CFL vet & only have a couple of years left to play at a high level.

its not a thing of have to, like bryant and medlock did last year. They get money shifted around to off season bonus money instead of the steady money on the check.

It is a little silly the level of security players have. Pro sports, especially football player have a short enough half life as it is. I hope at some point the league and PA move to better player issues like this. It will only make the game and league better in the long run.

He does look good though. I hope he recovers and has a good year (when not against us of course.)
