Whether thats sincere or not who knows. Have followed US Politics since the Watergate. Seen many Presidents and administrations, including Clinton who didn't care a whit about foreign policy, and the bungling efforts of Carter. But the real outstanding corruption instances are stuff like Nixon, Iran gate (Reagan) Gulf wars (Bush's) and the completely mendacious and corrupt Trump administration. Even yesterday, this Stone business is pretty well the most naked. overt and obvious case of political interference. I have seen - with his personal stooge as Attorney General (Barr) and totally compliant lapdog Republican legislators in both House and Senate - they no longer make the slightest attempt to hide it. As far as Lindbaugh......using the word sincere about him is a complete waste of time. The medal from Trump, is an insult and a total sham. btw.....you calling my observations "partisan and biased claptrap".....and musing about "work to do".......shows me that you are working far too hard to provide a nakedly immoral Trump with some form of fig leaves. Zontar Posted February 13, 2020 Report Posted February 13, 2020 Partisan Obama prosecutor holdovers and Mueller gang members recommend ridiculously harsh sentence on Stone knowing full well it was going to get pushback from Barr. Then claim to be horrified at "interference". Then quit like theyre martyrs under the jackboot of tyrant Trump knowing full well media buddies at Post and NYT will run that narrative. This is not a scandal. This is cheezy partisan political games that should be called out no matter what ones political persuasion. If you cant see it then Im really not sold on your claims of impartiality and detachment
The Unknown Poster Posted February 13, 2020 Report Posted February 13, 2020 Anyone comparing Dems to trump is a troll, maliciously ignorant or both. It’s not even close. it’s the difference between policy and morality.
johnzo Posted February 13, 2020 Report Posted February 13, 2020 one of the thinking errors you see nowadays is the idea that if you're criticizing Trump and the GOP then of course you must be a rabidly pro-democrat stooge, because those are the two teams and you have to be a fan of one, right? And it's the way that stupid people argue. "You hate Trump so naturally you must be down with all the sex crime and shitty legislation that Bill Clinton did, right?" Just for the record: "Bill Clinton should go to jail if he raped children on the Air Pedo" and "Trump is a criminal who is a danger to the USA and indeed the world and he needs to not be President ASAP" are not contradictory viewpoints. One can hold them both at once. 17to85, The Unknown Poster and Wanna-B-Fanboy 3
johnzo Posted February 13, 2020 Report Posted February 13, 2020 Zontar, please bring data to this discussion. What's the normal sentence that someone convicted of multiple counts of perjury and witness tampering gets? Was this sentence out of line with the customary sentence? The proposed sentence was in line with the DoJ's sentencing guidelines for the crimes involved. If the guidelines are unjust, why didn't Barr adjust the guidelines rather than making a specific intervention on Stone's behalf immediately after his boss tweeted his displeasure? It sure looks like someone is worried about Stone spilling what he knows. I know several American prosecutors and it's not surprising to me at all they would go apeshit on charges that interfere with the smooth workings of the legal system. Nothing pisses off a prosecutor more than someone who lies on the stand or tampers with witnesses, because those things can **** up a prosecutors case and they take that more personally than they'd take a random robbery or murder. Prosecutors also love putting people in jail; it's just novel in this case because the perp is an affluent and famous old white dude with suction at the presidential level -- that doesn't happen a ton in the states.

Yeah, they wont accept that "Obama wore a tan suit!!" is as bad as Trump trying to bribe a foreign government to investigate his political rivals. Im sure they're really outraged over Rush Limbaugh too, right? Funny you never see those people here express disgust with the bigotry of Trump and his pals. Hmmmm JCon 1

The only issue is that there would be an end to the constant cover up by the GOO in that scenario. Considering Trump has been investigated from day 1 of his presidency, how do you rationalize that he hasn't been charged with anything? My guess is he pushes the envelope to the very edge without actually breaking any laws which is what drives Democrats crazy?

He's actually an unindicted co-conspirator in felonies.

Cohen didn't specifically name him although everyone knows he paid the porn stars hush money. Almost 4 years of investigation and that is all they could dig up? Trump is so corrupt but after 4 years of constant investigating they can't even name him in the charge because Cohen wouldn't name Trump in his plea deal. Yeah that Trump, he's some sort of big time criminal. lol.
