bustamente Posted May 8, 2020 Report Posted May 8, 2020 It wont change much but if I'm the Judge I make the DOJ jump thru hoops, what is the reasoning for dismissal and why are prosecutors resigning from these high profile cases
pigseye Posted May 8, 2020 Report Posted May 8, 2020 Just now, The Unknown Poster said: You're wrong. Stop ignoring facts. So it was just a coincidence that Flynn talked to Kislyak "multiple times" to wish him a Merry Christmas, right? And was Pence lying when he said Flynn lied to him? Was Trump lying when he said Flynn lied to Pence? Are you suggesting that Flynn did NOT lie, told Trump and Pence he did NOT lie and they both publicly said he did? How does that make sense? You're clinging to the fact Barr, who has repeatedly shown to be Trump's lawyer, not a real AG, is dropping the case and you're ignoring the actual facts. You can believe that lying to the FBI is no big deal. You can believe back-channelling to Putin is no big deal. But you cannot deny the facts that those things are wrong, he was caught, he admitted it and the only difference today is Barr deciding that, even though Flynn is guilty, it doesnt matter. Dude, let it go, the transcripts have all been released, everyone involved has admitted there was no direct evidence of any collusion or conspiracy, only anecdotal evidence, none of which was material to the investigation. The whole thing should have died before it even got off the ground. Now Trump is going to use it as ammo to fire up his base while Biden has to fend off rape allegations. This is smelling like 2016 all over again. The Dems are just too stupid to let Trump hang himself on his own, which he would have done, instead of just pouring gasoline on his pyre.

Like getting the dates mixed up. So let the courts decide that and dismiss the case because of it. You did say you wanted everyone given due process no?
The Unknown Poster Posted May 8, 2020 Report Posted May 8, 2020 7 minutes ago, 17to85 said: Even reading the document it's even stupider than that. He wants to withdraw his guilty plea, ok let him have his day in court and let justice prevail... except here comes the DOJ which says "nah we don't think they can prove it so we are going to just drop it" In what world is that justice? Barr is the judge of everything now? Yup because his charges are a plea deal. So withdraw his plea and then let him face the much stiffer charges he would have. The reason he wanted to change his plea in the first place is because he was about to sit down with prosecutors and totally flip...suddenly, he did a 180...I wonder why. Oh yeah. The problem though is he was charged by the Special Counsel and Barr just did an end run. What happens down the road if a Democratic is in the white house, there is some scandal, a special prosecutor comes in, charges a democrat with crimes, he pleads guilty and is awaiting sentencing, special counsel office is closed and the Democrat President fires the AG, fires the assistant AG and suddenly the charges by the special counsel are tossed out? Think anyone in the GOP would have an issue? It basically guts the special counsel. Tracker 1

Trump & Pence both admitted it. You seem to be the only person who thinks he didnt do what he plead guilty to. 17to85 Posted May 8, 2020 Report Posted May 8, 2020 It is insanity how anyone, even a troll, can argue against this bottles the mind. The amount they have to move the goal posts is surely exhausting. Who has that kind of time or energy? The Unknown Poster 1

And its silly anyway since he plead guilty to lesser charges in a deal so saying oh he plead to minor things that werent material...yeah because he made a deal to flip and then when Trump got to him, he suddenly wanted to change his mind? Come on. I guess the Judge is in on it...the judge who called his acts treasonous. Everyone is out to get Trump lol
Mr Dee Posted May 8, 2020 Report Posted May 8, 2020 I shake my head every day now at the criminal, circus-like government proceedings being carried out by the Republicans Also, for those, who for some reason, defend the actions of these Repugnicans..
JCon Posted May 8, 2020 Report Posted May 8, 2020 If they don't throw out the charges, Trump will have to pardon him. To be pardoned, he has to admit to guilt, which he's already done a few times. Trump is the swamp. blue_gold_84 1

You did say you wanted everyone given due process no? I guess that is still up to the judge according this left leaning source anyways, https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/07/us/politics/michael-flynn-case-dropped.html It is now up to the federal judge in Washington overseeing the case, Emmet G. Sullivan, to decide whether to dismiss it and close off the possibility that Mr. Flynn could be tried again for the same crime. If the judge wants, he could ask for written submissions and hold a hearing on that topic.

Criminals are accused of many things. Being smart is never at the top of the list of those accusations.

How can you over look this from DOD's link above? The immediate predicate of the government’s move to dismiss the charges today was the release in April of FBI notes about its interviews with Flynn. Among the notes, an unidentified FBI employee wrote, “What is our goal? Truth/admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?” The notes are the latest example of dubious FBI behavior. As a recent Justice Department inspector-general report found, the FBI has repeatedly abused rules for obtaining warrants under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. As I have written repeatedly during the Trump administration, the FBI’s long record of abuse means that its statements cannot be taken at face value; the bureau will look out for its own interests, and break the rules to do so if it must. No sane judge would continue with a case like this. Tracker and The Unknown Poster 2
