The mute button was only used for the opening 2 minutes, which may not have been the best use to avoid any interruptions later on, but allowed for some typical “debate rebuttal” To happen. And misuse of the mute is not the moderator’s fault. Her worst failing was allowing repeated “can I respond” instead of just saying “no we’re moving on”. She could have steered back to the original question a bit more when both candidates danced around an answer. Tracker 1

Mr Dee Posted October 23, 2020 Report Posted October 23, 2020 👁🗨 The unremarkable debate. A toned down version worked out much better, but...for me The moderator allowed too many 30 second “10” second rebuttals. KRISTEN WELKER: Thank you President Trump and Vice President Biden for a great debate! MUTE BUTTON GUY: S**t sorry I'm late, did I miss anything - Daily News Only one person said he made a mistake tonight. Cringe worthy moment #1: Trump calling people who comply with the law (specifically court orders to appear for immigration hearings) the ones “with the lowest IQs.” (75% comply with court orders - Daniel Dale) Cringe worthy moment #2: Melania pulling her hand away as they walk off the stage. Indians react with anger to Donald Trump describing the air in their country as "filthy" during final US election debate. - BBC News Biden was again imperfect from a fact check perspective. He made at least a few false, misleading, or lacking-in-context claims. Trump was, as usual, a serial liar. - Daniel Dale 👁🗨 Too funny - “Hunter Biden was mentioned on Sean Hannity's show at least 23 times tonight. It's all these guys got“. - Aaron Rupar. Biden sarcastically refers to Trump as "Abraham Lincoln," and Trump gets confused by it. By far the worst line of the night was Trump saying "I am the least racist person in this room" Best line: "You know his character. You know my character...the character of the country is on the ballot." - @JoeBiden Three post-debate snap polls: Who won the debate? CNN: Biden 53, Trump 39 Data Progress: Biden 52, Trump 41 US Politics: Biden 52, Trump 39 And the unscientific CNN North Carolina "undecided voter" panel which with Biden 9, Trump 0, a Draw 2. Of course Trump shows his own polls where he won by at least 93% Oh, man, I can’t believe Biden’s staff let him wear his watch on a debate stage. He just looked at it. Which never looks good. - Roger Simon Nyah, nyah moment “I know more about wind than you do.” Trump 👁🗨They really should have a cartoon Pinocchio face behind the candidates and whenever they lie or put forward false claims, it would get longer. Imagine the length of that face behind Trump. MOBomberFan, Mark F and Noeller 1 1 1

Evers, however, has said those steps have been necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19 and has encouraged Republicans to convene on further measures." https://madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt-and-politics/gov-tony-evers-says-hes-still-waiting-on-republican-covid-19-response-plan/article_a83f4365-3635-50ef-8cea-ac0565a3492e.html Wanna-B-Fanboy and bustamente 1 1

Mark F Posted October 23, 2020 Report Posted October 23, 2020 (edited) Full blown Nazi stuff under Trump. Nineteen women at ICE detention center in Georgia back whistleblower's claims of 'medical abuse' including surgeries that left them sterile without their consent New report includes interviews with 19 women held in Georgia ICE facility They allege 'medically unnecessary' surgery without their consent Some women were left unable to conceive children after the procedures Women under Amin’s care were administered birth control and underwent procedures without their consent, including to remove their reproductive organs, such as the uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes, according to the report and interviews by The Times with women whose cases were reviewed by the medical team. The new report was written by a team of nine board-certified OB-GYNs and two nursing experts, who reviewed more than 3,200 pages of records obtained for the 19 women. You don't have to look as far as Uganda to find the same type of story, unfortunately. "In North America, forced and coerced sterilization of Indigenous women is usually described as something of the past, a dark blemish in American history and a symptom of colonization and the 20th century eugenics movement. The data is sparse but significant: Anywhere from 25 to 50 percent of the Indigenous women of reproductive age in the U.S. were sterilized in the 1970s. In Canada, over 1000 Indigenous women were sterilized between 1966 and 1976, according to Karen Stote, researcher and author of An Act of Genocide, one of the only books on the history of forced sterilization in Canada. In the 1970s, both the U.S. and Canada stopped promoting pro-sterilization policies. But they didn’t outlaw them either. Then, four years ago, Indigenous women in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan began to come forward to say that this was still happening in Canada. Brenda Pelletier and Tracy Bannab were the first two women who told the Saskatoon Star Phoenix that they were pressured by staff to sign consent forms for tubal ligations while in the hospital delivering babies. In Canada, over 1000 Indigenous women were sterilized between 1966 and 1976. Now more than 100 Indigenous women from various nations in the region have come forward to say they were coerced or forced into a sterilization procedure as recently as 2018. Many are part of a class-action lawsuit led by Indigenous rights attorney Alisa Lombard, which has been developing since 2017. The women are calling for sweeping reform to the health system, and $7 million (CAD) each in damages." https://www.iwmf.org/reporting/indigenous-women-in-canada-are-still-being-sterilized-without-their-consent/ bustamente, Wanna-B-Fanboy, Mark F and 2 others 1 3 1
