Apparently the GOP in general and the Trumpists in particular no longer see a need to appear sane to boost their popularity. They feel that between their rabid zealot supporters, gerrymandering and voter suppression along with appointing election officials who will follow orders to disqualify unfriendly ballots, they have the the next Congressional and Senate majorities locked up.  Their supporters have repeatedly demonstrated that they are willfully blind to any and all developments that reveal the GOP to be fascist, corrupt, pedophilic and arrogant. I literally think some people, and not just politicians btw, sit down with their handlers to brainstorm how can they make the most money for their own personal worth (capital, status), do they play the good guy or the villain with the skill sets we have? Then they go all in on whatever side they choose. This choice most times has nothing to do with how it aligns with who they may really be or anything else other than what will generate the most capital for their own personal bank accounts (usually 'offshore).  And this process is better facilitated in the present climate of no real consequences for one's behaviour the higher you are up the ladder.

I don't think they need to do much. The lobbyists take care of everything from funneling money into their accounts, to organizing political donations, and all the PACs. They just sit back, do nothing (literally) and get rich.

Mike Lindell claims banks want to sever ties with him due to potential bad press

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell is now claiming that some financial institutions no longer want to do business with him because he poses a "reputation risk" as he continues to push former President Donald Trump's false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

On Friday, January 14, Lindell appeared on Steve Bannon's podcast "War Room" where he claimed "Heartland Financial and Minnesota Bank and Trust are attempting to 'de-bank' him over concerns that they could face fallout related to having him as a client," Newsweek reports. During the broadcast, the two right-wing enthusiasts played an audio recording of what they claim was a discussion between Lindell and a banking official.

 

"Just because of our organization saying, 'Well, why are we connected with somebody that could be in the news.' And, not that the FBI is even sniffing and looking, but what if somebody came in and said, 'You know what, we are gonna subpoena all his account records...and then also we make the news,'" the person was reportedly heard saying in the recording. "So it's more of a reputation risk."

According to Lindell, he has been given 30 days to close his accounts but he has no plan to comply with the order.

Think rioting at the U.S. Capitol is a bad idea? Try calling Nancy Pelosi’s office the next day asking to get your stuff back.

According to Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), many people who participated in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection called the House Speaker’s office the next day asking about a “lost and found.”

Raskin told Business Insider that people were “asking whether there was a lost and found because they forgot their phone there, or they left their purse or what have you.”

The staffers answering the calls handed them off to the police, the lawmaker said, who then asked for their names, addresses and other details so they could, in Raskin’s words, “tie up those loose ends.”

More than 700 people have been charged in connection to the assault on the Capitol so far.

It might seem shocking that people who stormed the Capitol one day would have no qualms about calling the next day in search of their lost items, but Raskin said that points to former President Donald Trump’s complicity in the events of Jan. 6.

“When they were told that they were trespassing and invading the Capitol, they said the president invited them to be there,” Raskin said. “They didn’t have any kind of subtle understanding of the separation of powers. They just thought that the number one person in the U.S. government had invited them to be there, and therefore they had a right.”

“It underscores the central role that Donald Trump played in it,” Raskin added.
