America is headed for where it has always headed with occasional pauses for sanity- a fascist theocracy. Before you scoff, it may be well to remember that only about 20-25% of the American colonists wanted to separate from England, but were so militant that the 75-80% who were not sure were intimidated or converted to the cause.

Counterpoint - California was not a part of the U.S. during the American Revolution.

I mean in regards to Jews..... being murdered. for being Jews.

We are at the point where many Jews are pretending they are not Jews.

maybe the Israel haters will start to understand why Israel exists.  The Chomsky, Amy goodman types.

probably not.

It is possible (and sometimes justifiable) to criticize the Government of Israel without being anti-semetic.

That's a fairly ignorant comment to make. Those people absolutely understand why Israel exists...it's what they're doing that gets people upset. They're VERY close to becoming what they're supposed to be fighting against.

ignorant?   Ive read Chomsky, listened to Democracy now for years, attended a lecure in Wpg by Amy Goodman. Followed  Juan Cole for years. I have read a number of books about Israel, the greater middle east,  North Africa, about the history of the Jews under muslim rule.  The offers made to Palestinians, always refused. I have read about life of Palestinians under Fatah and Hamas.

I have read about the history of Jews in Europe. and Canada. none is too many.

I am also familiar with the history of the relentless terror attacks on Israelis that lead up to the wall being built.

I expect I am much better informed than you.

of course Israel government can be criticized, so, mostly agree, but it also it depends on the  nature of the criticism, where it comes from. agenda.

anti semites and anti zionists have found common cause.

and... People , anti zionists, that think that Jews can live peacefully in a Muslim middle eastern country, need to do some reading.

And I expected this. No need to try and justify. You can't. They can't either.

people may not realize, what it's like..... its everywhere, and always has been.

I have been on the receiving end of anti semitism since I was a child.

It's a fine line, for sure.

And, the wolf in the sheep's clothing is Christian American who is happy to support Isreal because they believe someday Jeebus will come back and eliminate all those non-Christians. They expect Jerusalem, and all the middle east, to convert or die.

Congratulations on figuring out that 2 assholes can exist at the same time. Criticism of 1 does not equal defense of another.

Once you take the theological stuff out, things get a bit clearer. Israel does have an absolute right to exist, but the question is whether the state of Israel has the right to exist as a purely Jewish entity, or as a multicultural one. According to biblical text, the Israelites, before they were a self-contained country, were directed by Yah to invade and conquer Palestine and were further directed to kill off ALL the inhabitants, which sounds suspiciously like genocide. And God punished them for not being thorough enough at it.                                                                                                                                                                             When Israel and Judah were conquered by surrounding Semites, there were no attempts at genocide, apart from the relocation of many as slave into Babylon. Other Jews fled to wherever they thought would be safe. Israel was under Arab rule for several hundred rule, and during that time it was relatively peaceful, although there were occasional uprisings.

It seems to me that historical wrongs, or what are interpreted as wrongs get passed down from one generation to the succeeding one and so forth. There is an interesting sidelight. About 6 years ago, Israeli archaeologists took DNA samples from 2000-2500 year old Jewish bodies and compared them to current Israeli and Palestinian DNA. The results, as reported by Haaretz newspaper indicated that the Palestinians were closer in genetics than most current Israelis.

Those who describe themselves as Zionists want nothing less that a "purely" Jewish state with all Palestinians evicted and the extremists among Palestinians and other Arab countries still see the Israelis as occupiers to be driven out. There seems to no way to reconcile these two factions. The extremists in both camps have created and sustained the other, and each benefits handsomely from the conflict.

Trump Is Basically Promising A Coup In 2024

Trump is off the deep end and making it clear that he intends to try to take back power by any means necessary in 2024.

Trump is claiming that any election that he loses should be tossed out and a new one held because that is what the Founders would have wanted. Of course, the nation was founded in rebellion against the tyranny of a monarchy, which is defined as one person holding power and denying representation and voice to the population.

Donald Trump isn’t hiding it. He isn’t pretending to respect democracy. If the 2024 election doesn’t go in his favor, the failed former president is going to demand that the Constitution be removed, and a new election is held.

Blah, blah, Blah. He has to get the Republican nomination first & no guarantee that he will.

Donald Trump secretly paid off millions in debt to North Korean-linked company while president

There is a “chance” Donald Trump didn’t break the law by hiding debt from his 2016 presidential campaign’s financial disclosure reports, according to Forbes.

Documents obtained by the outlet show that the then-candidate failed to disclose $19.8 million in debt to Daewoo, a South Korean company with a history of ties to North Korea.
“There is a chance that Trump’s omission may have been legal,” the report said, noting that Trump may have used a loophole in the law:

Although officials have to list personal loans on their financial disclosures, the law does not require them to include loans to their companies, unless they are personally liable for the loans. The Trump Organization documents do not specify whether the former president, who owned 100% of the entities responsible for the debt, personally guaranteed the liability, leaving it unclear whether he broke the law or merely took advantage of a loophole.

Forbes also pointed out that Trump may have hidden the debt because Daewoo, at one time, “was the only South Korean company permitted to operate a business inside [North Korea].”

And now the best of Herschel...

The people that frustrate and annoy me the most aren't the people who are upfront in supporting his insane nonsensical drivel.

It's the posers, the one's who acknowledge his complete unsuitability but rationalize their support for him.

They're nothing but posers, pretenders who really are who he is just a bit more polished around the edges.

Elon Musk promised to release bombshell documentation that Hunter Biden's laptop was loaded with all manner of incriminating evidence and proof that the Biden camp directed the DOJ and media to whitewash the said evidence. Today, Musk released his "damning" evidence which consisted of an email from Biden's electoral team asking that nude pictures and video of Hunter while he was intoxicated not be released. Hardly world-shaking.
