Tracker Posted May 11, 2023 Report Posted May 11, 2023 Arson, Burglary, Death Threats: Abortion Clinics See Uptick In Violence Post-Roe Many categories of violence and threats more than doubled since last summer, particularly in states where abortion rights remain protected. Violence against abortion providers and clinics skyrocketed following the Supreme Court’s decision to repeal Roe v. Wade last year, according to a new study. The National Abortion Federation released its annual report on violence and disruption against abortion providers on Thursday morning, and the numbers are striking. NAF found that all forms of violence ― including arson, burglary, death threats, stalking, invasions and bomb threats ― has increased significantly since 2021. From 2021 to 2022, around the country, burglary increased by 231%, stalking of clinic staff and patients increased by 229%, arson increased by 100%, and invasions of clinics increased by 25%. Several states enacted near-total abortion bans immediately after the Supreme Court’s decision, which forced many abortion clinics to shut down in red states. Anti-abortion extremists then shifted their attention to states that continue to protect abortion care, leading to a disproportionate increase in violence and threats of violence in areas. “The threat of violence against abortion providers unfortunately remains on the rise despite dozens of clinic closures across the nation,” Michelle Davidson, security director at NAF, said during a Wednesday press call. “The 2022 violence and disruption statistics indicate that anti-abortion extremists were emboldened by the SCOTUS decision and state level wins.” In states where abortion is protected, stalking increased by 913% (from eight cases in 2021 to 81 in 2022), bomb threats increased by 133% (from three in 2021 to seven in 2022) and burglaries increased by 100% (five in 2021 to 10 in 2022). The National Abortion Federation defined these states using Guttmacher Institute’s analysis of abortion care in the U.S., including states that fall into the categories of “most protective,” “very protective,” “protective” and “some restrictions/protections. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/abortion-clinic-violence-report_n_645c0d19e4b03e16f1a0c207 Wideleft 1

Sad What I would have preferred is Trump being interviewed by one journalist in an isolated setting. Mehdi Hassan would not have let Trump get away with his BS. That “town hall” environment played perfectly into Trumps hands. However, I don’t think he attracted any new voters. He was just appealing to his base. Tracker and Wideleft 1 1

Tracker Posted May 12, 2023 Report Posted May 12, 2023 CRAZIER AND CRAZIER... DeSantis’ new law: Doctors can’t deny treatment for unvaccinated patients but can refuse LGBTQ ones In Republican Governor Ron DeSantis‘ “Free State of Florida,” as of July 1 it will be illegal for physicians and other medical professionals to refuse to treat unvaccinated patients. It will be illegal to mandate vaccines. It will be illegal to mandate the wearing of masks. It will be illegal to require a “vaccine passport.” But, also in Ron DeSantis’ “Free State of Florida,” it will be legal for a physician or other medical professional to refuse to treat a patient who is LGBTQ for a “specific health care service” if it violates their “conscience.” And legal for insurance companies to refuse to cover patients who are LGBTQ for a “specific health care service” again, if it violates their “conscience.” JCon 1

Tracker Posted May 16, 2023 Report Posted May 16, 2023 Giuliani said he was 'selling pardons for $2 million, which he and Trump would split': ex-associate complaint Noelle Dunphy, a former associate of Rudy Giuliani, is suing the onetime Donald Trump attorney over a litany of misconduct, including sexual assault, harassment and wage theft, ABC News reports. Dunphy joined Giuliani’s team in 2019 as his director of business development. In a 70-page complaint filed with the New York Supreme Court, Dunphy recalls “alcohol-drenched rants that included sexist, racist, and antisemitic remarks, which made the work environment unbearable,” and noted many of the former New York City mayor’s diatribes were recorded. The complaint alleges that in Feburary 2019, “Giuliani forced Ms. Dunphy to have sexual intercourse with him for the first time” after she “had refused and avoided having sex with Giuliani.” The former associate also claims Giuliani asked her “if she knew anyone in need of a pardon,” because he and Trump were “selling pardons for $2 million.” Per page 25 of the complaint: He also asked Ms. Dunphy if she knew anyone in need of a pardon, telling her that he was selling pardons for $2 million, which he and President Trump would split. He told Ms. Dunphy that she could refer individuals seeking pardons to him, so long as they did not go through “the normal channels” of the Office of the Pardon Attorney, because correspondence going to that office would be subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. According to Dunphy’s lawsuit, Giuliani declined to register his communications with Ukrainian government officials under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). When pressed by Dunphy on the matter, “Giuliani told her that he was able to break the laws because, he said: ‘I have immunity,’” the complaint claims. The lawsuit seeks $10 million in damages. bustamente 1
